Blue-green or greenish-blue

August 1! Holy moly- the summer is almost over! Have to say, it has been such a brutally hot summer that a little fall would be nice. Next thing ya know I will be complaining about how cold it is!!

Since it is the first of the month, that means a new color challenge at The Rainbow Card Challenge! This month's color is:

Teal- such a difficult color, Blue-green, greenish-blue, not my favorite color, but always fun to get out of your color comfort zone and try something new.

I have been so totally going broke on Pinkfresh Studio's stamp, stencil and die combos. Today's card features "Folk Garden". I used the matching stencil set to add the color and die cut the whole thing. All so very easy peasy.

So if you are struggling with the summer heat, here is a little something, something to keep you sweating!

You have all month to show me your blue-green or greenish blue teal cards. Stay cool crafters!

with sympathy

Sympathy cards are the hardest cards to make. But they mean so much to person who receives them. I know all the cards I received when my brother died really touched my heart.

My card today is inspired by the new challenge at CAS on Friday. It is a color challenge.

These are Stampin' Up! colors, but when you do not have them, use colors that are as close as you can!

There is something so soothing about these colors that make it perfect for a sympathy card. This card cab easily replicated with any flower/leaf stamps you might have in your stash. If you don't have a bird die, a butterfly would work just as well.

*Please Don't forget to make your card  CAS!*

If you do not make it clean and simple or we do not see the challenge theme in your entry, them you will not be considered for a prize or a Top 3 spot. Please read the rules carefully.

Our winner will be our guest designer for the next challenge at CAS on Friday!

I love fall

There is a funny thing about having seasons change, spring and summer you can't wait wait to put away your long pants and sweaters and get into shorts and t-shirts. I am in the long pants and sweaters stage. I am ready for the cooler weather.

The leaves are beginning  to change here in Pa. and the hotter days are fewer  and fewer. My creativity is leaning to Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas cards. The next few months are my favorite time to craft.

In honor of the start of fall, I am using my gift set from Simon Says Stamp called "Fall Frenchies".
I am joining the fun at a few challenges.

I am also going to submit a second card to AAA Cards.

So put on your long pants and sweaters and joining in these "cool" fall challenges!

Thankful

Welcome to November everyone. The month that kicks off the holiday season with Thanksgiving being three weeks away. I have much to be thankful for this holiday. The most important being thankful to be finally finished school. It has been a long eight years, between my BSN and now my MSN. I am also thankful that I will have the luxury of time- time to stamp and create. That is what makes me happy and keeps me sane.

There is still time to play along at Inky Paws. The challenge is to use twine or burlap. I used twine last week and this week I am using burlap. I had one little piece, so I had to be very careful that I didntscrew up my card. There's another thing to be thankful for. 😃

My card this week uses the "shades of autumn" set from Newton's Nook and the sentiment is from the "autumn Newton" set.

Where's Pinkie?

Well fall arrived on Saturday at 9:54 and the weather turned chilly. I am sitting here typing this with a warm leggings, a long sleeve tunic, and a sweater, drinking a cup of very hot tea. It seems like yesterday I was sweating in shorts and a tank. How is that possible?

Do you remeber as a kid one of the best things about fall was jumping in piles of leaves? Tell me, you all did that didn't you? Well Miss Pinkie my old girl, isn't too old to play in the leaves. She might not be jumping around, but she will bat a few around. Can you see her? She's hiding behind that pile of leaves.

You still have time to join in the fun over at Inky Paws, for the "Fabulous Fall" challenge.

For my card I used the "Autumn Newton"  set. The background is the "Serene Stripes" stencil and turned it around create a"plaid " background. My base card used my go-to die set "Frameworks".

Falling for autumn

We are halfway through September and I am ready for for some crisp cool weather. I am done with the hot, humid and rainy summer we have had in Pennsylvania. It's time to feel the fall breeze and see the autumn leaves covering the ground.

Inky Paws challenge this week is a theme. Fabulous fall. That sure conjures up lots of images huh?
My card today is CAS but with lots of textures. It kinda reminds me of that baby book- "Pat the Bunny". I used just the dies from Newton's Nook's "shades of autumn" and I die cut them from various types of papers and materials.

I layered them onto an embossed panel cut from the "frameworks" die set. The sentiment is from "autumn Newton"

House of Cards October Challenge Texture

Fall has definitely arrived in my neighborhood. It is grey, windy and cold. I think we will be able to go with out the AC tonight!

This month at House of Cards we have a duel challenge:

You can use these colors but we want you to add some texture to your creations! I recently treated myself to a webcam to make videos. Today is my first video! Bare with me please it is my first and I am still learning.

Today's card features the colors and texture.

If you watched the video, you will see all the textures I talked about. This card kinda reminds me of the book "Pat the Bunny". You just want to touch it and feel it.

AAA cards is having a a challenge that fits my card,so I had to play along: wordplay.

I hope you enjoyed my first video, hopefully they will improve. Hope to see you all over at the House of Cards for this month's color/texture challenge!

Challenge Sunday

Its Sunday and its challenge day. I was glad to see there are still some challenges that want Thanksgiving cards. I have a few left to make.

This card began with the idea of texture, which is what they want over at Just Add Ink. I got out some acetate which I haven't used for awhile. I stamped the leaves with StazOn ink and colored the opposite side with copics. I love the way they blended in a puddle fashion. Kinda like alcohol inks which makes sense since thats what copics are. I stamped and fussy cut the leaves to embellish the front of the card. I added the twine for extra texture and a few gems and there  ya have it!

Here is a view that allows you to peek inside the card.

Look how cool those copics blended together!

I am entering this into Pals Paper Arts color challenge- OK once again maybe I am fudging it a bit.

AAA cards has this awesome photo inspiration- can ya see where I was going with the card and the photo?

The Paper Players has another Thanksgiving inspiration

Lastly CAS on Sunday wants you to use twine. I was trying to think of something really creative, but nothing would work but something traditional. But what the heck it is Thanksgiving- the penultimate traditional holiday!

So one card, five challenges! WOOO HOOO!!

Off to finish my paper on self-care- now that I have just practiced my own self-care!
