Bag It

Bag It

Hallo everyone!

I have decided that one cannot
have too many of these bags.
They seem to make even the
most mundane items look as
though a special purchase
has been made

Here's Hazel Harler with her
gorgeous bag

"This is my decorated bag using the So Soft fabric paints

I started by putting a piece of corrugated card
inside the bag, this was to give me a firm surface
to work on and stop the paint from going through
to the other side of the bag.

Sorry about the photo, I didn't realise that the
shutters on my camera hadn't opened properly.

I used a sponge the add the paint.

I mounted some small Gelli plates onto
acrylic blocks and used them like stamps
to add the colour,

I must admit that I like this and wonder
if I should have stopped there.

Then used a sponge to stencil the paint onto the bag.

I stencilled some flowers.

I used some indian ink markers to give
the flowers a bit more definition

I also added some white dots here and there"

Thank you Hazel, that
really is a versatile design

I'm thinking that you could stop
at any of the stages and still
have a stunning bag.  I would
go so far as to say that you could
make a series of bags and stop
the decoration of each one at
the end of the different stages

That'll be the birthdays sorted for this year then....

'Till tomorrow

Buildings

Buildings

Hi There!!

Here's Hazel Harmer with
a gorgeous Canvas, set to
make us all feel happy and
smiley

"My canvas is nothing like what it was going to be like,
it was going to be a snowy winters night -
all shimmery and glittery,
but our boiler packed up in the
middle of November and wasn't fixed
until December 23rd.

The first week we had no hot water either and because
we'd been so cold I decided my canvas had to be summery!

used the Carabelle Studio house stamp.

stamped the houses and coloured them with felt tips.

I used a Memory Box stencil and modelling paste
to stencil the sun in the corner of the canvas.

I gave the canvas a coat of gesso and
when it had dried I used a sponge to colour
the sky and greenery with Fresco Finish paint

The sun was coloured with yellow and orange acrylic paint.

These are some of the embellishments I used,
I coloured some of the dried flowers green and left some white,

I die cut some leaves but didn't use them.

I cut the strip of paper because I liked the scalloped edge
and thought it would make a good fence.

I glued the dried flowers to the canvas and
attached the houses with a dimentional double sided tape
then I drew pathways from the doors.

I used a white pen to turn the strip of paper into a fence.

The fences are attached to the canvas with a thicker
double sided tape than I used for the houses.

The birds were stamped with Stampers Anonymous stamp,

I had to go over the birds with a black marker as they didn't
stamp very well on the canvas.

I added a heart shaped balloon and wrote "Home is where the heart is".

Because I used a deep canvas it meant that
I could carry my design round the edges."

Supplies:

A deep 6 inch square canvas.
Carabelle Studio stamp.
Black Archival ink.
Felt tip pens.
Memory Box stencil
Modelling paste.
Fresco Finish paint.
Stampers Anonymous bird stamp.
Black marker.
White pen.

Thank you Hazel - I'm so glad you didn't
go the winter night route - maybe you
could give us that one for the next heatwave?

A really super, smiley, proper like canvas
for a winter's day - what a brilliant idea!

'till tomorrow

Favourite Songbook

Favourite Songbook

Hallo everyone!

We've reached the last week of November
how scary is that?  Have you even started
your Christmas Cards, bought those
presents, ordered the food............

Here to take your mind off it all with
her Favourite Songbook is

Crafty Field:

Today I am showing a card inspired by the
Roaring Twenties and Charleston.

This card is fairly simple to make and there
aren't many techniques to show you step by step.
However, I thought you might like to see

my stamp positioner in action.

I resisted for a long time getting one but

now I couldn't live without it.

A stamp positioner comes with a thin
acrylic sheet and a right angle block.

With the sheet abutted to the right angle,
stamp your motif on the sheet so that the
edge of your wooden or acrylic block
touches the bottom and left edges of the block.

You can now find the perfect position for your stamp
by moving the transparent sheet over your page.

When you have the placement, get the
right angle tool back around the transparent sheet
as shown in the picture.

Take away the sheet being careful not to move
the right angle block and stamp the motif on your card

This is how I stamped the flower all around the card

for an Art Deco feel as well as the ladies!

I coloured the flowers with a red marker

and a gold gel pen.

For the ladies I used Inktense pencils.

Supplies:

Thank you for showing us the
Stamp Positioner .............
Maybe another one for the
Christmas Stocking?........

'Till tomorrow

Christmas Makes

Christmas Makes

Hi there!

I see the supermarkets have started to hide away day to day
products in order to make room for their Festive offerings.

It is obviously that time of year again and
for those of us who haven't even thought about making
our Christmas Cards yet, inspiration starts here with

Karen Gist

Using Versafine Ink stamp the image onto a plain white card blank.
Stamp again onto white card and cut out the tags.

On the card add silver glitter to the snowflakes as well as a few dots
 here and there.

Punch holes where marked in the tops of the tags.
Colour the letters & holly with a light green pen and then the berries and around the punched holes with red.

Rub a light covering of Pumice Stone DI around the outsides of the tags.
Wrap red wire threaded with a few silver beads through the tags,
 adding twirls as you go.

Attach the tags with 3D foam pads.
Trim off excess card.

Products used:

Many thanks Karen for gently easing us into
this year's Christmas Card making fest.....

See you all tomorrow with
more inspiration
