Today we have Dawn Heald  to
show us a beautiful bowl she has created:

I've made a shaped button bowl and I'll be honest it was meant to be a flower bowl. However, with a slip of my scissors and a couple plasters later, it changed. I'm overall pleased as these make handy little bowls easy to get at the contents.

You can make papier mache shapes using a variety of different sturdy objects. Just wrap in plastic wrap/cling film first to prevent the paper sticking to your objectives.

To make this project.

Choose object shape to use as a Mold. Cover with cling film first to prevent the paper sticking to your object. Tear small pieces of book pages and glue them all over your object. Build up as many layers as you like depending on how thick you want it. Leave to dry naturally.
Then remove object from the papier mache. You may need to cut down it to prise is off. If so simply use small pieces of book pages and glue back together. Dry and then trim and neaten edges to get shape you want. Neaten further by sanding and applying glue on very edge.
Paint all over with watered down white gesso

When dry apply colour all over using Alchemy Wax using sponge and or paintbrush.

Now make some embellishments with Shell Mold and paper clay, painted with Starlight Paint and Pink Alchemy Wax. Make some little fishes by Stamping Fish stamps onto Frosted shrink plastic, die cut, colour with clear sparkle pen and shrink with heat tool.

Back to the bowl, sponge edges and stamp the little asterisks all over the outside with Black Stazon Ink. Then add dots of White PVA glue all around outside. Dry.

Stick embellishments around outside of bowl. Add further decoration with buttons and Peacock Stickles.

Hallo everyone - me again!!
How are you all? It really is the season of mists and mellow fruitfulness now isn't it?  Definitely need to make sure I have a jacket on when leaving the house of a morning.

Today we welcome new DT member

Claire Jackson

with her delightful Birdcage project:

Here she is to tell us all about it:

1.Stamp the Hearfelt Creations bird cage four times.

2. Place the matching die over the stamped image and tape down to prevent it from    slipping. The die cuts very closely to the image for a very delicate result.

3. Colour the die cuts and don't forget to colour the back too. I used Promarkers so I picked a pale pink for the reverse so that it would not show if it seeped through to the front.

4. Using Artista super light air dry clay and silicone moulds make some flowers. You can take them out of the mould straight away and they are robust enough to handle and colour. Left for 24 hours they become papery and light.

5. I also made some other casts but in the end only used the owls.

6. Glue a selection of flowers and leaves to the top of a small round box (diameter 5.5cm). Colour with alcohol pens.

7. Fill the gaps with PVA glue and sprinkle Stampendous shabby white embossing enamel liberally over the lid. Shake off the excess and set with a heat tool.

8. Tape the bird cages to the edge of the box. Do alternate sides first. Then bend the tops to meet in the centre and secure with a glue dot. Finish by adding two owls, some flowers, glitter and a ribbon.

Around the House

Hello everyone!
If anyone needs a final bit of inspiration
we have another project on the Around the House theme today.
It really is a beauty and is by

Dawn Heald:

I'm here to share an art journal page in my MDF book,
using a few things from around the house
to apply colour and stamp with.
I do hope you like it.

How I created this.

First off I covered the board with very thick layer of
white gesso applied with pallet knife and left it to dry naturally.

Then with Fresco Finish Paints I used the palette knife
to spread on thick uneven layers to make my sea and
again left it to dry naturally.

Next I took some small plastic nappy sacks
(any plastic bag would work, thicker plastic bags will give chunkier
more open look) and dabbed them in
the Alchemy Wax and proceeded to
gently dab all over the board, alternating colour as I went.

Then I used the Bay Leaf stencil and stippled through
Peridot Alchemy Wax to create a backdrop of sea plants.

Now some mixing:

Scoop out three small amounts of
Media Texture Sand Paste and add
a different colour of Alchemy Wax to each one.
Mixing the the pink and blue wax to get purple.
The Alchemy Wax mixes really easily
to create new colours and also into texture pastes.

Apply the coloured Media Texture Sand Paste through
TCW mini Octopus Stencil, omitting the octopus!
I really pushed the paste through the stencil
to get a different look not as sharp.
I let this dry for a bit then finished off drying with heat tool.
Then put the stencil back on and drew through with a white gel pen.

To add detail to the background I found different sized lids from
"around the house" and stamped with them using
Starlight paints, Alchemy Wax and Stazon Midnight Blue midi ink pad.

Now I needed some sea life.
I stamped, coloured and die cut my fish.
I used Distress Markers to colour and
I glued them to the background with hot glue.

The stamps and matching dies are Heartfelt Creations.
(My first products from them and I'm mega impressed
at the designs and quality and storage packaging).

I finished off with a stencilled word "Imagine" from DecoArt stencil,
using the same Midnight Stazon ink in top right corner.
Then added some Sequins and dots of
White Opal Liquid Pearls coming from the fishes mouths.

I like the way the page shows the different textures
and also the matt and pearly finishes.
It's one of those you can't help but touch.

Many thanks Dawn for your lovely project

Here's what Dawn used:
