The Cuttlebug Spot ~ Lace

Hello, it is time for another challenge from The Cuttlebug Spot.  This week the challenge is to use lace on your project.  I sometimes struggle with lace on my cards, it just never looks right to me.  As a result I tend not to use it very often, but on this card I really like how it added to this card.

The stamps are from Rubberneckers set Floral Silhouete.  I started by masking off the flowers on the stamp and then inked the leaves/branches with Memento Pistachio.  Next I removed the painters tape and with Memento Cantaloupe marker I inked the flowers.  Then I gave the stamp a good huff and stamped it.  After cutting out with Spellbinders Label One and before removing the die I lightly sponged with Pistachio ink.  I finished up by adding some small pearls to the center of the flowers.  I am also entering this card into the monthly challenge at Stamping Sisterhood, this month it is an inspiration piece.  The inspiration piece is a photo of graduation cupcakes.  I wanted something that could be used as a graduation card or a card of encouragement.   Make sure you stop by The Cuttlebug Spot to get the full details of the challenge and to see the gorgeous creations from my fellow DT members.  Thank you for stopping by and have a super week.

The Cuttlebug Spot~Father's Day

Hello it is time for another challenge at The Cuttlebug Spot.  The challenge this time is to make  Father's Day project and use different shades of blue.

As you may have noticed I didn't read the challenge very well and don't have much in the way of shades of blue, oops.  I used By The Sea from Gina K Designs.  I started by coloring the lighthouse and then masking if and sponging the background.  I finished up the main image by adding the seagulls.  It is hard to tell by this photo, but the buttons are a navy blue with a marbling of a lighter blue.  Thank you for stopping by.

The Cuttlebug Spot~Mother's Day Card

Hello it is time for another challenge from The Cuttlebug Spot.  This time the challenge is to make a Mother's Day card and to feature a flower using either a circut or cuttlebug.

I used a scallop die in the cuttlebug.  I cut out somewhere around 15-20 layers of tissue paper attached them together with a brad and the scrunched them until it looked a lot like a carnation.  The sentiment is one from Notes to Mom from Gina K Designs.  I am also entering this into StampTV's Mix it up Monday challenge to make a square card.
Now head over to The Cuttlebug Spot for all of the details and to see all of the gorgeous creations from the rest of the design team.  Thank you for stopping by and have a wonderful week.

In addition to The Cuttlebug Spot challenge I also used this weeks sketch from Card Positioning Systems.  I did omit the three circles elements of the sketch as I couldn't make it work with my card.

The Cuttlebug Spot- Make a box

Hello it is time for another challenge at The Cuttlebug Spot. This time the challenge is to make a box and then make something to go in it. I made a pizza box with a set of note cards.

I used Theresa's set Dogwood and Butterfly form Gina K Designs. Theresa posted recently a cad where she had colored the dogwood flowers in blue and I wanted to give it a try. For the most part I tend to not use blue for flowers, not sure why.  You can find a tutorial on how to make a pizza box here on SCS.  They are super easy and fun to make.  The note cards are 3 1/2 inch square.  I colored the flowers with copics and then cut out.  After cutting out with nestabilites I sponged the white with memento summer sky and danube blue.  It is a bit difficult to see in the photo, but the box and layer on the cards is navy.  I hope you can play along with us and be sure to head over to The Cuttlebug Spot for all the details and to see the fabulous creations from the rest of the design team.  Thank you for stopping by.

The CuttleBug Spot- WinterScene

Hello, The Cuttlebug Spot challenges are back after a holiday break. This time the challenge is to create a winter scene and to use texture,Use texture like felt, buttons, string, ribbon etc.
For my card I used Mountain Wilderness Theresa's latest set from Gina K Designs.  This is a fabulous set for creating scenes.  If you come by my blog often you know I do enjoy creating scenes.  I started by sponging in the snow drifts by masking and sponging with distressed ink weathered wood.  With the mask still in place I stamped the trees and mountain.  I finished it off by adding the deer and grass.  The "moon" is a button that I had in my button jar that just happened to match the ink perfectly so that is what I added for my texture.  I am not so sure I like it, but I have to step out of my comfort zone and give it a try.

I hope you can play along with us. Now make sure to check out the fabulous creations from the rest of the design team.   Thank you for stopping by.

The Cuttlebug Spot - Oh So Soft: Felt

It is Tuesday and that means it is time for another The Cuttlbug Spot Challenge.  This week the challenge is to use felt on your project.  This was a difficult challenge for me it is my last for The Cuttlebug Spot, as this is the end of my term.  Nilda has also decided to take a short break on the challenges, but she plans to be back soon with more.  As for me I can't wait.  On to my project.

I started with an idea I had about a week ago to emboss my own felt and it worked, kind of.  I started by spraying the felt with starch and then running it through and if gave this great deep embossing to the felt.  I was so excited, then as I was putting my card together I noticed that the more I handled the felt the embossing was coming out.  I will work on this technique and if I get it right I will share with you.  Being as I was disappointed with my first sample I made another.

Here is the first card.
Here is a close up of the embossing.
Now for my next card.
I hope you stop by The Cuttlebug Spot and give this challenge a try and don't forget to check out the rest of the design teams projects I am sure you will not be disappointed.  Thank you for stopping by.

The Cuttlebug Spot - Push the Button

Happy Tuesday!!! It is time for another The Cuttlebug Spot challenge. This week the challenge is to use buttons on your creation.
On Saturday I recieved this adorable image that I had ordered from Simon Says, it is an Ippity stamp from Unity.  I couldn't wait to color this one.  I also used the sketch  from The Sweet Stop. They are celebrating 100 sketches this week and there is a twist to the sketch this week of How Sweet.  I chose to go with a sweet image instead of an image of something sweet.

Now you should head over to The Cuttlebug Spot and check out my fellow Design Team members and see their gorgeous creations.  I hope you have time to play along this week.

I would like to thank you all of you who take the time to leave such wonderful comments on my cards.  It really means so much to me.  I also want to apologize for not getting to you blogs nearly often enough to share some love. Thank you for stopping by and hugs to you all.

The Cuttlebug Spot -So Charming

The challenge this week for The Cuttlebug Spot is to use charms on your project.  I have been wanting to make a white on white card for a long time.  I almost got there this time, but I couldn't resist adding a lilac mat.  It is still mostly white and I am very happy with how it turned out.  I just wish I could have taken a photo of it to show how pretty it really is.

Last week Beate posted on her blog how to make a frame with nestaibilities and I knew I had to try it.  It is pretty easy and I will definitely being making more of them.  I can't seem to get a link to the exact post on Beate's blog with the video, but you can find it at the bottom of  her 3/5/11 post.  It has been a very long day so I am keeping this a super short post.  I have the card details at the bottom of this post.  Make sure to check out the rest of the design teams gorgeous creations  on The Cuttlebug Spot.  Thank you for stopping by.

I am also submitting this card to the following challenges
  1. Stampin Sisters in Christ: Use a stamped flower
  2. Let's Ink It Up: Show your embossing
  3. Cute Card Thursday: Signs of Spring
  4. The Pink Elephant: Spring Time

The Cuttlebug Spot - Ouch! Hat Pins

It's Tuesday and that means it is time for The Cuttlebug Spot.  This week the challenge is to use Hat Pins on your project.  I happen to love using hat pins and it has been a long time since I had used any so I was happy to see this challenge.

I used the adorably sweet image from The Greeting Farm. She is from Naughty or Nice.  I added glitter to her wings and halo, but it is hard to see in the photo.  To make the hat pins I used a pearl topped pin that I added beads to.  to stop the beads from sliding up and down the pin I used a stop bead that you can find in the beading section of a craft store.  Finally after placing the pins in the bow I took my wire cutter pliers and snipped the sharp end of the pins so there are no sharp ends.

I hope you can play along this week.  You can link your project on The Cuttlebug Spot and while you are there make sure to check out the rest of the design teams fabulous creations.

I alos used the sketch from Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge.  It is a great sketch and one that I will be using again.Thank you for stopping by.

The Cuttlebug Spot - Pop Up

This week at The Cuttlebug Spot the challenge is to make a pop up card.  I choose a bit of a different type of pop up card.  This type is called a Surprise Pop Up Card, and you can find a great tutorial from the Fabulously Talented Beate HERE on Splitcost Stampers.

This is the front of the card.

And if you pull the tag on the top this is what you see.

This is a very cool card to make.  I know I say this every week, but I had fun making it.  The adorable image is a Pure Innocence from My Favorite Things.  The dp is Basic Grey Jovial.  I added stickles to the snowflakes.  I hope you can play along this week.

Make sure and check out the challenge as well as the gorgeous projects from my fellow Design Team members on The Cuttlebug Spot.
