Out West Coasters

Align LeftI made these coasters using Theresa's new stamp set Out West from Gina K Designs. Gina's tutorial this last week was stamping on tiles to make coasters. I have seen these done before and always wanted to try, so now I have and I love it. I stamped using stazon and then colored with copics. Copics and Stazon don't work well together but if you are very careful you can make it work.

Now on a personal note, I made Center Stage today on StampTV and I am so thrilled there are some very beautiful cards, so if you would like to take a look click on the center stage button in the top left of my blog. Thank you for stopping by.

Designs, Just so Hippy by Melanie Muenchinger. The designer paper is from Basic Greys yummy bittersweet collection. I colored the giraffe and balloons with copic markers.

I also used the sketch from this weeks challenge on SCS.

Ornament Shaker Card

I made this for the limited supply challenge this week on Split Coast Stampers. For this challenge all you had to do was use a snowman image. I enjoyed making my last ornament card that I thought I would make one as a shaker card. I did have some trouble gluing it all together and keeping the micro beads and glitter inside. I used my nestabilities to cut the circles. I colored the hat and scarf with water color pencils, and with my snow writer I added the white puff to the hat.
Thanks for looking.

Supplies:
Stamps: Merry and Bright (SU)
Paper: whisper white, bashful blue, basic gray (SU)

How I store my nestabilites

A couple of months back I started buying nestabilities from Cut At Home if you haven't heard every month they give a coupon code for 40% one item. They have good service, but be prepared to wait awhile for you nestabilities to arrive they have been back ordered most of the Spring.

Anyway back to the reason I am posting about them today. I needed a way to store them and did some blog surfing and found where someone ( sorry I don't remember who) who stored hers in a CD wallet on magnetic sheets. I thought it was a great idea so I went to Staples to buy some magnetic sheets, they were out which was a disappointment so I consoled myself with a walk down the Michael's (it is only two stores down). While there I found that they sell the sheets much cheaper than Staples and I had a coupon. You can see in the picture how they look. I cut the magnet sheets 4 1/4 x 4 1/2 using my paper trimmer and an old blade, I have to tell you it cut like butter. I then labeled each of them so that I can keep them all straight. I didn't have a extra CD wallet and didn't really want to buy one (I would rather spend the money on stamps), so I used a binder and CD pages the are two high so that when I get the long rectangles I can make a small slit in the top one so that they will fit. Here is a close up picture.

May Day Basket

Here is a May Day Basket that I made to give to one of my neighbors. The tutorial I wrote for it is in the post below this one. Thanks for looking.
Brenda

May Day Basket Tutorial

First I started with a strip of Whisper White that is 2 3/4 x 8 1/2. Then using Bud Basics I stamped in Basic Black then using the crayon resist, I sponged with Lavender Lace, Pretty in Pink and Wild Wasabi.
Then I layered the white strip on Elegant Eggplant that was cut 3 x 8 1/2. Next I attached it to Lavender Lace that measured 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 and stamped the word happiness from Warm Words.
For the next step I used sticky tape to form a tube and closed off the bottom like for a sour cream container.
After that I crimped to seam the end and make sure that the sticky strip really sticks.
The last step was to punch holes in the sides and thread ribbon through for the handle, so that you can hang it on a door knob. Finally I made "flowers" with pixie sticks and flower stamps and punches.
All supplies from Stampin' Up
Stamps: Delight in Life, Bud Basics, Doodle That, So Many Scallops, Lots of Thoughts, Warm Words
Paper: Whisper White, Lavender Lace, Elegant Eggplant, Pretty in Pink
Ink: Lavender Lace, Pretty in Pink, Wild Wasabi
Punches: 1", 1 1/4", 1 3/8", 1 1/2"circles, scallop
Non Stampin' Up ribbon, paper shreds and pixie sticks

Weekend Sketch Challenge #43

Here my card for Beate's weekend sketch challenge. I really liked this sketch. I had fun making it and that is what counts for me. I hope you like it. I also made a purse size tissue holder. I came up with the idea and then I got to thinking it would be neat to give with a get well card. I have made a tutorial for it below this post if you would like to make your own. Thanks for looking.

Tissue Holder Tutorial

Do you remember this tissue holder, well here is the tutorial for it. This is my first tutorial so if you have any questions please feel free to email me.

Supplies you will need to make this tissue holder are: one sheet of card stock, scoring tool, bone folder, 1 1/4 circle punch, strong tape or adhesive, and Velcro or a magnet closer.

To make the tissue holder you need to start with a piece of card stock that measures 6 1/2 by 10 1/2. If you want it stamped now would be the time to do that. I wheeled mine with Basics Outline using Purely Pomegranate ink.

Next you need to score the long side at 1", 3 1/2", 4 1/2", 7", and 8". Then you need to score the short side at 1" and 5 1/2". I used a bone folder to make the folds nice and crisp. Now you need to cut away the areas marked red in the first photo. This will be the end that starts with the score at 1". Now you are ready to fold it up and punch the half circle as shown in the third photo. You next need to tape it on the sides. Attach Velcro or a little magnet for a closer. Here is the fun part, decorate it the way you want and you are ready to go. My original idea was to have the tissues pop up through a slit made with the word window punch, but unfortunately I was unable to find any purse size tissues that popped up. If you find any please let me know. Thanks for looking.
