Cherish Butterfly

I have been wanting to try a butterfly like this for awhile and I really enjoyed it. It was super easy I stamped the butterfly on whisper white then colored it using Koh-I-Noor pencils and OMS, then I cut it out and inked it up with my versamark and embossed it three times. I did learn something from this it is easier to ink and emboss first them cut it out. I also only glued down the butterfly at its body so that the wings would have some depth to them. 5 In 1 Challenge Card!!!!

Okay I got this idea last night when I was checking out the challenges over on Splitcoast Stampers. I have had a bad case of missing MOJO, so I was trying to find something to get me going when I realized that I could make a card using all of the weekday challenges. The only bird I have is in Pun Fun so that part was easy and the colors and the sketch was already done so all I had to come up with was the glimmer and shimmer and the limited supplies easy peasy right? Anyway it was enough to get me to make a card and now hopefully I am back on the stamping train.

My first Unity stamps......

and I won them. A HUGE thank to Heather Brown over at In My Stamp Room. She had this set offered as blog candy a few weeks ago and I won them I got them yesterday and I am itching to get some ink on them. I hope to have some time later today. I have been wanting to try Unity stamps for awhile now and am so glad I now have them, I now I will love using them. Heather included this very pretty card as well. Here is a close up of the card. Inspiration Challenge

I made this for an inspiration challenge at My Scrapbook Table Sarah is having a blog candy giveaway and one of the things you need to do is make a card using her inspiration piece. I really struggled with this for some reason and I didn't like it most of the way through in the end I am happy. I used the three flowers with the off set centers as the piece that I choose. There is very little stamping on this card, but a whole lot of sponging. It is a bit hard to tell by my photo, but I used close to cocoa, so saffron, really rust, more mustard, chocolate chip and old olive. Oh my, I just realized I used six colors on one card I think that is the most I have ever used on one before. If you would like to enter for Sarah's blog candy hurry over here. Thanks for looking.

Beate's Weekend Sketch challenge #52

This is my card for Beate's weekend sketch challenge. I just got Pun Fun and couldn't wait ti ink up the rubber. The cool thing about this card is that I was able to use all scraps (except the card base). Tile Father's Day Card

This is the card I made my husband, sorry for the colors the did not come out right no matter how many times I tried. It is More Mustard and Chocolate Chip! Well anyway I used my cuttlebug and one of the fancy corners embossing folders on a scrap piece of Old Olive. Next I used Really Rust ink and swirled it on with a sponge, next I dappled with a sponge some chocolate chip and old olive ink, then finally I used some metallic rubbing paste (gold) on the top giving it a look of metal. my inspiration for the tile came from Stephanie's card here.

Father's Day Card

So I finally made a Father's day card. It is a simple card and after I came up with my design it took me about ten minutes to make. I always have a hard time with masculine cards so I was glad that is came together so fast. This one uses a lot of sponging on the edges and I like they way it came out. Merci Pocket Card

This is my attempt at a pocket card. I wanted the tag to also be a bookmark.
I have had a hard time coming up with ideas for the Merci stamp set, but I think I am finally getting it. My horizontal punch wont go through three layers of card stock so, I had to punch one layer at a time. I am loving using my watercolor pencil this week, I have used them on nearly every card I have made.

Here is a close up of the tag. the card also opens up. I took a strip of card stock that measured 4 1/4"x 11", then I folded up about 2 1/2" and glued it down to form the pocket then I folded it to make a square card the measured 4 1/4" x 4 1/4". Thanks for looking.

How to...... packing tape transfer

In my last card I used a technique called packing tape transfer, and have been ask how I did it. Well, I didn't come up with this one on my own I have seen it done many times, I will give you all a quick overview of how it is done.
I started with a strip of Stampin' Up designer paper cut 2" wide, then put the packing tape (which was also 2" wide) on top. Make sure you get out any bubbles I used a bone folder, but you could use a credit card. Next stamp your image using Stazon ink, after that has dried for a few moments cut out your image. Okay so here is the fun part, you then soak it in water until the paper is completely saturated, at this point you should be able to gently rub the paper off the tape which will leave you with just the image and no paper. Now all you have to do is let if dry and you are ready to place it on your card. I hope this made since, if you have any questions please email me.

Time Well Spent

I made this card using my level three hostess set Time Well Spent. I had been wanting to try the packing tape transfer technique. I found it very easy to do, and I liked the results. I feel it was a great way to give the butterflies a three dimensional look. I started by stamping the large flower first and then masking it and adding the other flowers. After water coloring them I popped up the center of the large flower and added some stickles. Before layer it I gave another go at paper piercing, I hope to get better at that soon.
