car boot sales damansara

안녕 친구....
(annyeong chinggu)

if you guys followed my instagram profile (Ezzan Yusop), you'd probably knew that i opened up a booth on last Sunday car boot sales in Bistari De Kota, Damansara. cehhh booth lah sangat kan. padahal bukak bonet kereta. heee...first time aku join benda-benda camni. timbul idea nak join car boot sales ni bila officemate aku duk tengok aku asyik pergi pejabat pos duk pos novel ke customer. dia kata syok kan dapat jual barang-barang yang dah tak nak. then, dum dam dum dam dum dam terus "jom kita buat garage sale! or car boot sales ker!" and the rest as the say, is history...

you know, at first i was kind of nervous and a bit sceptical as well sebab selalu fikir 'ada ke orang nak beli barang aku ni' but once dah set up booth and the customers started lining up (perasannn), perasaan excited menguasai diri. wah kemain. so, what did i sell? well, lemme see.....there's books....and books....and more books!! haha. ulat buku kan, apa lagi. jual both malay and english novel. tapi tapi tapi...takdelah buku terpakai je yang aku jual. aku jual jugak preloved handbag, shoes and clothes. lagi pun, almari baju aku tu dah penuh sampai kadang aku malas nak lipat main longgok masuk almari. ha ah aku memang malas lipat baju pun. hehe.

tak mahal pun aku jual kan?

ni masa ahad hari tu. meja tu omak den suruh jual.
beg terjual dua, novel terjual 10 buah, baju pun 10 helai.

anyway, aku ada plan untuk continue join this car boot sales. lagipun, dari aku duk tercongok kat ghumah membosarkan diri, baiklah aku do something. bukan takat aku dapat burn calories je ni, dengan muka-muka aku sekali dapat di (sun)burned kan. ye lah, ko ingat tak berpoluh duk meniaga dari pukul 8 pagi hingga 12 tengahari? tapi itu semua belakang kira, janji i have fun. and duit masyuk.... ;)

see you guys there!

Trying To Be Muslim

...that was a title of a book by Norhafsah Hamid. it is a story about one person's quest (a Muslim born, not a muallaf) to become an active servant of Allah and the struggles she went through in trying to find her religion. I enjoyed reading it. sometimes, I even felt like I've been slapped a couple of times because of how similar our conditions were. It also brought tears to my eyes as well especially about the journey of performing the hajj.

i love how the author tells the story, it's like as if she was talking to me directly next to me. one of the snippet that really appealed to me was this :

If you had asked me this question 4 years ago "when do you plan to perform your Hajj?" My answers to you would then be "probably in 5 years time"...My excuse would then be...I am not ready or I have not received my call (belum sampai seru).

Over the years in my quest for knowledge, I discovered that to perform the Hajj, is NOT about a readiness of a person or the need to wait for His calling. Hajj is one of the pillars of Islam and it is compulsory for ALL Muslims once they have fulfilled the preconditions of Hajj.

So, what are the pre-conditions? There are:-
- Muslim
- Sane
- Have reached puberty
- Financially and economically able

Hmmm....I noticed that no where could I find a preconditions that states...spiritually ready and able and received the calling. Then, I understood that whether I am ready or not, once I have fulfilled the preconditions, then it becomes compulsory for me to perform the Hajj. God waits for no one.

a very good read for all Muslimah and hope everyone will read it. totally recommended. tak mahal pun. dalam RM18 - RM20 je (can't remember the exact price). bought it at Kinokuniya KLCC...and if there's anyone interested to buy/read this book, I can buy it for you guys. serious. just bank-in the money and i can get it for you selagi stok masih ada lah kan...hee :)

footnote: i bought this book again as a present for my kakak sepupu who is a Sarawakian muallaf because i recommended this book in my FB and she's so eager to read it. Alhamdulillah. maybe this will help her to understand Islam more. InsyaAllah...

novel adaptation

hai. salam satu malaysia. wah gitu. dah macam baca berita tv1 dah ni. hehe. anyway, semalam kan semasa bertwitter saya ada terbaca status twitter cik lisa surihani yang kecil molek tu. dia kata nak start shooting filem Ombak Rindu. and i was like....WHAT????!!!! OMBAK RINDU novel yang saya baca zaman sekolah menengah dulu tu???? penulis dia Fauziah Ashari tu???? yang Izzah dengan Hariz tu???? *jaw dropped*

haihhh. honestly, saya tak berapa berkenan sangat bila buat filem adaptasi daripada novel ni. sebab selalu end product dia tak sehebat novel tersebut. well except for Lord Of The Rings and Harry Potter lah kan. both are very good franchise as well as good storyline walaupun ada flaws here and there. bukanlah saya bias merendahkan produk seni malaysia ni sebab kalau nak ikutkan Hollywood pun ada adaptasi dari novel dan jadi tak best juga tapi memang romance novel ni bila diadaptasikan ke filem susah untuk peminat novel itu untuk menerima karya tersebut.

contoh baru-baru ni saya tengok kat Hallmark diorang buat short film from Nora Robert's Romance Collection. i read one of her books called Carolina Moon. among my favourite i should say but bila diorang jadikan itu sebagai drama, saya emo. sebab tak ikut buku. spoiled kan the emotions yang beautifully potrayed in the novel. it didn't do justice to the book.

Ombak Rindu tu saya khatam beribu riban kali dah. setiap kali baca saya masih lagi boleh dapat rasa perasaan semua karakter dalam novel tu. siap dah bayangkan dah hariz and izzah tu macam mana. nama pun novel cinta kan jadi suka hati lah kita nak bayangkan macam mana and bayangan tu pun hanya kita je yang nampak. tak perlu terangkan and beritahu orang lain. dalam erti kata lain, berangan. tapi bila novel yang kita suka tu dijadikan drama atau filem, pemilihan pelakon tu selalu tidak menepati kriteria yang sudah kita bayangkan tu tadi. dan skrip dia sungguhlah tak mengikut cerita novel tersebut. selalunya macam ni lah.

fyi, saya tidak menonton pun cerita Lagenda Budak Setan. sebab apa? sebab saya tak baca novel tu. so i won't go and see the movie. sebab saya rasa in order for me to understand the story i need to read the book first. then only, i'm able to say this is a good adaptation or not. macam masa saya tengok cerita Harry Potter tu dulu. the first movie tu bila habis je saya tengok saya macam hmm is that it. so saya pun cari inisiatif nak cari buku dia. and i read all of the seven books. you can see the bigger picture when you read the book first. itu pada pandangan saya lah.

hmm...sometimes, some things are better left untouch. macam prinsip Jay-Z mengenai the remake of Michael Jackson's We Are The World. wah tetiba je tau masuk pasal rapper ni. when asked what does he thinks of the remake of the song, he said some classic should remain a classic. seeeee seeee what i mean. even Jay-Z agrees with me. cewah guna nama Jay-Z plak.

book club

sedang kami menjamu selera having our lunch and all, tak ingat siapa tah memulakan topik pasal novel-novel melayu. dah macam ala-ala Oprah's Book Club tapi ni OAS Book Club. cewah. aida cerita pasal novel a, linda novel b, haida novel c, saya novel d, ros...hmm ros takde bunyi langsung. hahaha. teringat balik cerita-cerita novel yang menjadi pojaan hatiku masa zaman jepun dulu. wah, zaman jepun gitu. ye la, saya start baca novel-novel melayu masa sekolah menengah, form 4 ke form 5 dah tak ingat. kami bersembang pasal novel-novel yang pernah kami baca. ye, novel melayu memang agak cliche tapi entah kenapa tah saya boleh terima semua itu dalam buku (not in film). sebelum itu, saya bukanlah kaki baca novel melayu. tiada pun bacaan sedemikian di rumah. yang ada semua novel orang putih kat rumah yang kesemuanya milik mak saya. jadi bila dah mak yang punya, hampir kesemua novel english itu adalah agak kedewasaan. novel Princess, Carolina Moon semua dah saya khatam. tu yang saya agak jarang beli buku novel sendiri.

masa remaja dulu adalah beli cerita omputih Sweet Valley yang gila faymes waktu itu pasal adik beradik kembar Jessica & Elizabeth Wakefield. Sweet Valley High la, Sweet Valley U lah sampai dah tak lost count dah. huhu.

tapi itu dulu. sekejap je masa zaman sekolah rendah. bosan cerita remaja saya beralih genre pula ke buku seram-seram dan pembunuhan. violence kau masa kecil. kahkah. novel pilihan? dah tentu lah from R.L. Stine and Christopher Pike. tapi satu pun tiada dibeli, semua pinjam kawan.

then, masuk sekolah menengah hambik kau tak baca buku langsung. kahkah. takde pun beli bacaan ilmiah ni. baca magazine je dulu. teruk kan. hehe. pastu form 4 ada baca novel english. itupun satu je sepanjang tahun tu. kahkah. form 4 (kot!) start baca novel melayu. novel pertama?

The Last Song by Nicholas Sparks

i just finished reading the novel 'The Last Song' by Nicholas Sparks. i bought the novel about a week ago. heard about this novel through a magazine.

The synopsis : Seventeen-year-old Veronica "Ronnie" Miller's life was turned upside down when her parents divorced and her father moved to Wrightsville Beach, North Carolina. Three years later, she remains alienated from her parents, particularly her father...until her mother decides it would be in everyone's best interest if she and her brother spent the summer with him. Resentful and rebellious, Ronnie rejects her father's attempts to reach out to her and threatens to return to New York before the summer's end. But soon Ronnie meets Will, the last person she thought she'd ever be attracted to, and finds herself falling for him, opening herself up to the greatest happiness - and painn - that she has ever known.

i'm totally into this book. one of my favourite this year. although i find the first few chapters were quite slow, but still bearable though. Ronnie was absolutely sarcastic and funny at the same time that was impossible not to love her. and the same goes to Will. even though he is charming, athletic and rich but he also has the downside, he can sometimes be really violent. and i love the way the relationship between Ronnie and her younger brother, Jonah. i would probably say that Jonah is my favourite character in this movie. he's so funny, he basically lits up the story. anyway, this novel evolves around the love-hate relationship Ronnie had with her father. how he tried to be nice to her, tried to win her heart back, and how she's always being mean to him, yelling at him, ignore him and always hurting his feelings because she still mad at him for leaving them behind. this story don't just involves between a father and a daughter, it also touch the value of friendship. how far will one go to save a friend. towards the end, i find it so sad, i couldn't help but CRIED. yes, i CRIED. so badly.

from the scale of 1 to 10, i gave this novel...8 for the great storyline between a daughter and her lonely father (ini semua sebab cerita Papadom, dah terjatuh cinta dengan cerita-cerita famili ni. hehe!) and the ability to make me cry during Aidiladha. haha.

this novel has been made into a movie. just waiting to be release somewhere around April next year. being a huge fan of A Walk To Remember (another movie adaption of Sparks' novel), i can't wait to see how the movie will turn out to be. Miley Cyrus as Ronnie and not-so-famous-actor will play the role, Will. hope it will be good as the book. crossed my finger.

Harry Potter And The Half-Blood Prince

Review From Yahoo! Movies :

Voldemort is tightening his grip on both the Muggle and wizarding worlds and Hogwarts is no longer the safe haven it once was. Harry suspects that dangers may even lie within the castle, but Dumbledore is more intent upon preparing him for the final battle that he knows is fast approaching. Together they work to find the key to unlock Voldemort's defenses and, to this end, Dumbledore recruits his old friend and colleague, the well-connected and unsuspecting bon vivant Professor Horace Slughorn, whom he believes holds crucial information. Meanwhile, the students are under attack from a very different adversary as teenage hormones rage across the ramparts. Harry finds himself more and more drawn to Ginny, but so is Dean Thomas. And Lavender Brown has decided that Ron is the one for her, only she hadn't counted on Romilda Vane's chocolates! And then there's Hermione, simmering with jealousy but determined not to show her feelings. As romance blossoms, one student remains aloof. He is determined to make his mark, albeit a dark one. Love is in the air, but tragedy lies ahead and Hogwarts may never be the same again.

in the end, it's quite different from the book lah.
it was supposed to be packed with actions.
magic spells and wand fighting.
tapi...the ending sungguh tak menyentuh perasaan langsung. hoish!
i remembered crying my eyes out reading the book when Dumbledore was killed.
there were so many scenes from the book that were not included in this movie.
memanglah impossible to fit all into one but...something was missing lah from this movie.
takde umpphh factor.
supposedly there were much more after Snape had killed Dumbledore.
they did not show the unity between the Hogwarts' students after the incident.

Book : Way Much Better!
Movie : Not so much!

So I suggest, better read the book than watch the film.
You'll get the whole idea!

The last book, The Deathly Hollows will be made into 2 movies.
Kira ada part 1 and part 2, due to the long storyline.
Hopefully, there will be no important scenes that are cut out from the movie.
Can't wait for it!

oh ye, pada yang tak tahu hujung pangkal. jangan benci snape ok.
saya sayaaaaannnggg snape. teehee!

arghhhhh!!
kenapalah buat cerita yang menyayat hati.
dahlah sedih, menangis lagi.
menangis sampai tersedu sedan.
basah bantal tau kena airmata.
bengkak-bengkak mata.

damn that novel!
buat saya lambat ke pejabat kerana saya terbangun lambat.
semuanya akibat tidur lambat nak habiskan novel itu.
dan juga sebab penat menangis.
therefore, alarm clock tidak didengari lagi.

yes, i blamed it on the novel!
sila bertanggungjawab ok, si penulis novel.

novel apa yang saya baca?
novel cinta. hukhuk!
ye, silalah muntah sebab kejiwangan saya ini.

if you could see me now

entry ini adalah book review. jangan baca kalau anda rasa bosan. haha.

i spent my weekend in bookworm mode.
finished up 2 novels that i bought on saturday - 1 malay and 1 english.
"Syurga Di Hati" (ye, saya jiwang. ada masalah ke?) and "If You Could See Me Now" by Cecilia Ahern.
i cried at both stories. saya sensitif ok.
i'm falling in love with Ahern's writing.
her first novel that i read was not "PS I Love You" but "Where Rainbow Ends"...a remarkable story, i enjoyed every pages of it. (believe it or not, i still haven't read PS I Love You).

i love the forbidden love between ivan and elizabeth because it was not your typical love story. elizabeth loved ivan, a man she and her nephew were the only one able to see him. nobody around them can see him except for both of them. it was because ivan was so-called "an imaginary friend" who was assigned to help Luke and at first, it was only Luke who can see him. but he senses that elizabeth, too needed his help. since then, elizabeth managed to see him and really enjoyed his company. while he help them discover life, they kinda helped him discover his own life too. the only mistake ivan did was falling in love with elizabeth. being with her makes him realized what he's been missing in his life too.

totally worth every penny.
i gave 2 thumbs-up!
i laughed and i cried throughout reading this novel.

PTD

Siapakah penganjur Sukan Olimpik 2012?
- oleh sebab saya ingat Beckham ada masa penutup Olimpik hari tu, jawab sambil tersenyum.

soalan yang agak mencabar minda :

Siapakah yang pernah dilantik sebagai hakim?
- hakim apa? hakimboy? hahah. yang ni saya telan air liur terus bantai jawapan.

dah lama rasanya tak jawab test dalam borang OMR. lama juga tak tulis esei BM yang siap pendahuluan dan penutup. lenguh gila tangan tulis esei 300-500 patah perkataan. mulalah merapu, merepek dan meraban. the last time tulis esei panjang masa SPM dulu. 7 tahun tu dah tinggal. kuikui.

tapi best gilos jawab soalan matematik. lama dah tak mengira. enjoy walaupun tak cukup masa. the last time pun masa kat office, waktu mereng-mereng datang. minta aida and ummu formula nak cari isipadu pentagon.

soalan pemahaman pula...bosan ok!
rasa macam nak tidur saja masa baca petikan.

twilight saga continues

just finished reading Breaking Down, the final book of the Twilight series.
one word to describe it : SUPERB!

the best finale you could've ever imagined. really enjoy every pages. makes me fell in love with not just Edward, but the rest of the Cullens as well. actually, i fell in love with all of the vampires.
Good Vampires vs Volturi. and there's Reneesme, Edward and Bella's daughter.

can't wait for the final series to be on the silver screen. haisyy...i will be pushing 30 kot when the movie finally opened. (tidakkkk!!!) cewah! ye la, New Moon will be complete in 2010 (i will be 25 years old). Cuba bayangkan yang final movie tu bila pula nak dicompletekan. and Robert will be pushing 30 too (a year younger than me) i started reading it last night, around 10 p.m and finished reading it 6.15 pm today. it consisted of 856 pages.

anyway, i also have read Midnight Sun, still from Stephenie Meyer. but not the whole book. i only managed to have until chapter 12 in ebook. well, Midnight Sun is sort of the spin-off of Twilight. i fell in love with it already. can't resist the charms. cewah! all 4 of the twilight books centered around Bella's thoughts and actions while Midnight Sun revolves around Edward and his mind-reading ability.

by the way, anyone of you know where i can get a copy of Midnight Sun?
went to Kinokuniya & MPH Online last weekend but there isn't any.

Do They Hear You When You Cry?

Since we're in the mood for Book Review (cewah!), I remembered reading a truly magnificent novel by Fauziya Kassindja with Layli Miller Bashir, title "Do They Hear You When You Cry?". I read this book when I was in high school, at the age of 16 to be exact. It was on the shelf in my class room. I was actually dying of boredom the day when I decided to give this book a try. My friend even surprised seeing me reading the book from the shelf. I told them, this is such a great story to be read. To be known. Not just sitting there, on the shelf as a display items.

This is a true story. A true story about the Fauziya, herself. (If you expect some romance, action, sci-fi mood then go find something else). It was about human suffering and also about heartbreaking story how a woman find justice for herself, objecting her own Tribal law. When I read the book, I couldn't really hold back any emotions. As if, I was with her, experiencing what she's been through. I could feel the hurt, the humiliations, the sadness in her. She migrated illegally from her country, Togo to the US, hoping things will get better. But of course, it turned out to be one of biggest challenge for her. She was mistreated while in jail in the US. Bear in mind that Fauziya is a Muslim woman.

It is, by far one of the best book I've read so far, in my 23 years of life.

New Moon...not so much

i have read the New Moon (2nd installment of Twilight series).
it didn't have really the 'umph' factor.
not so much Edward, too much Jacob.
basically it's more like Bella and Jacob story.
except where Jacob becomes the werewolf was kinda interesting.

will the 2nd movie be interesting, considering the lack of the 'umph' factor in the novel?
i wonder.
have to wait till 2010 for the release of New Moon.

twilight saga

i just finished reading the Twilight novel (ebook given by Za). i think the novel was much better than the movie kot. to me la tapi. enjoy gilalah baca novel dia. i cannot stop reading it til the end. couldn't really focused on anything else, just the book. makes me dying to read New Moon as soon as possible. but i can bet it will get me stucked just what Twilight did to me. I have to remind myself that I'm working and I need to focus on my work and don't sleep late.

can't really help it though. darn it.
ni semua Edward Cullen punya pasal.

Thanks to Za for getting me caught up in the twilight saga!
It kinda make me becoming lazier each day. ahaks!
