MAY Sofa Table

Just moved a few things around for May.
Using different combinations of things I have:
porcelain balls, clear Ball jar filled with cobalt
pebbles. Click on any of the blue highlighted
words to see the blog post.
The large Longaberger baskets hold tons of
napkins collected over the years. Posted
about that HERE.
It's fun to gather this-and-that from around
the house, storage, or patio to create a
different vignette in just a few minutes.
I'm keeping my wine glass charms handy in
this little basket. Post HERE and HERE.
The pothos is THE easiest houseplant ever!
I have several in the house and they are
indestructible. If you need something alive
and green, this is the plan for you.
Read the post HERE.

Cheers!

Sofa Table Got The Blues

Pulling a few things together from around the
house to perk up the sofa table for the
 rest of the summer.
I had every intention of staying with the red,
white, and blue Americana theme, but then I
changed the coffee table. That lead to
changing the breakfast table and you know
how that story ends. Actually, I don't think
it ever ends, but here I go making a few
 changes...puttering, tweaking, and rearranging.
Dishes and tea cups and tea pots
are my reliable go-to items.
I brought in this shabby birdhouse from
the patio. I added a row of my vintage
 German spice jars.
I used my favorite table runner...picket fence.
I think I may have added a few things since
the picture was taken a few days ago.
Be right back!
This sofa table vignette needed a plant.
I just cut some leaves and orange ixora from
the yard and put them in a tall blue and white
ceramic vase...ahem...the'vase'  was a
repurpose toilet brush holder. I wasn't
using it in the guest bathroom anymore,
so it was scrubbed clean and now has a
new life. It's a real Cinderella story.
Cheers!

Fall-la-la-la-la

For someone that lives in south Florida,
I sure do love Fall!
I get out my Fall bin and add as much of
 that ol' Fall feeling
before we drive up to North Carolina
for my Fall 'fix' in October
A small pallet was dragged brought in from
the yard to use as a backdrop for
the sofa 'harvest' table.
I used a small colorful rag rug and topped it
with the wood board I've used before.
 The family room coffee table.
I've changed the ribbon on this mini wine
cork wreath many times to match the
seasons. Just use a wire to string
together the corks; twist the ends.
Old books, a big pinecone
(pinecones are a must-have for fall)
and a pumpkin tea pot.
Enough for now...time for a tea break!

Cheers!

Red ~ The Color For July

It seems that almost every month has it's
'color'. A color that when added to my
home brings in a little of the season
or holiday. Red seems to make an
appearance more than any other;
July (Independence Day),
December (Christmas) and of
course, February (Valentine's Day).
I just pop a few red dishes into the
chicken feeder plate rack.
Add a few red cups to the hooks in the cupboard.
Mix and match. Red, White, and Blue.
I couldn't find a wall to hang the flag
chalkboard, so I just hung it from a
cabinet door that stores some extra
dishes I use for another month.
Pop the  printable in the white frame.
Take a break and bake a loaf of
Cinnamon Swirl Quick Bread.
Tweak the counter tray.
 Navy and white checked quilt.
Add the red, white and blue afghans.
Bring out the red tea set.
A USA sweater for the bear that sits
on a shutter on the sofa table.
That's the red vintage scale I've used
 in other 'red' holidays.
A bouquet of flags. I've been making scrap
fabric balls and adding them as I finish.
And if all else fails, make a pot of tea!
(and have a slice of cinnamon bread while it's still warm.)

Cheers!

White Horseshoe Box

After I made my first horseshoe tray HERE
I wanted another one I could paint white for
 a beachy summer look.
I used 6" boards for the sides.
More of a box than a tray.
Painted it white all over and sanded it
a little for the shabby look.
I love the rustic shabby style because
it doesn't have to be perfect. Too much
pressure with perfect, so I avoid it.
I found a few things to fill it: a plant, a few
decorating  books and two ball jars.
I am thinking of stenciling the sides.
Haven't decided.
Painted right over the horseshoes.
This is on the cabinet behind my sofa in the family room.
Bright afternoon sun coming in through the
large sliders looking out onto the lake.

Have a great week!
Cheers!

No Beach~No Problem Tablescape

You don't need to be near a beach to get a beachy look.
You can 'doggie-bag' the clam shells from
your last dinner out. I take them home
and give them a good cleaning.
I can put them in one of my
apothecary jars on top of beach sand.
No beach sand? No problem.
Here I'm using cream of wheat cereal.
Looks just like the beach. I recycled a
a box that was past it's expiration date.
I kept everything neutral and used things
I've used before.
Colors for the beachy sofa table:
cream & wheat

Cheers!
