Give Me An M!

I love collecting the letter M.
So when I saw the buffalo checked
letters at Target for $1, I grabbed one.
I added it, along with two others to
the small plates I found thrifting
a while ago. The small plate rack is
also a $1 thrift find.
This twine M is one I made years ago.
It's simply an M cut out of cardboard with
twine wrapped and glued all around.
You've seen it HERE
This galvanized letter is from Walmart's
after Christmas sale for 25¢.
These inexpensive letters can be used for
napkin rings/place setting charms, attached
to a gift, ornaments on the tree,
or collect several and spell out; JOY,
MERRY CHRISTMAS, GATHER, HOME,
THANKSGIVING for a banner or sign.
Be open to the letters you find. Have fun!

Cheers!

Make A Scrap Wood Cross

I wanted a rustic, shabby, simple,  wood
cross for my Easter season decor.
I've seen these around the  blogs and
thought "I could make one of these!"
This project couldn't be easier.
I just grabbed leftover pieces of wood from
my garage. I found mall pieces of molding
and a piece of picket fence.
I did nothing to the wood. No cutting, and
no painting. Just used a nail
and attached the pieces together.
I attaches a salvaged pull ring to the back
in case I ever wanted to hang them.
I found 6 pieces of wood so I was able
to make 3 crosses in 5 minutes.
This one is on the patio.
You could decorate it more. There are lots of
good, simple ideas on Pinterest. This is just
to get you started. Make one part
of a front door wreath. Take one to your
Easter Day hostess. See what a nail and 2
pieces of wood can do!

Cheers!

DIY Twig Frame Wreath for Fall

This fall wreath came together in no time
using things I had on hand.
First I went into the yard with my garden
loper and cut a good bunch of branches.
I laid them out to the size I wanted that
would fit on my front door's glass. I used
4 twigs for each side. They don't need to
 be straight.
Bundle them together at the ends with wire.
Next attach the corners with more wire.
I used raffia to cover the wire.
I left some of the raffia strands long for
that 'harvest look'.
Next I hung a few pinecones from the top.
I added small screw eyes on the ends of
the pine cones to string in the twine.
I topped it all off with some
fall ribbon I found in my ribbon jar.
I used a large suction hook to attach
the wreath to my glass door.
Hang by one of the twigs from the hook
on the from door.
I think this twig wreath can be a nice base
for other season too. Using decorations
for Christmas, spring, winter, gives it a
variety of looks.

Cheers!

Turn A Broken Basket Into A Dog Bed

Yes, Sofie has another bed basket.
Unfortunately this large basket got crushed
in the garage.
Not wanting to rush things and throw it out
like a normal person would, I thought about
how to repurpose it.

We needed to replace the front. Before
we cut out the front I added glue to the
end splints to hold them in place.
Used a small saw to cut out the front.

The ends will be covered with the wood.
Larry found a scrap piece of plywood and
cut it to fit and also cut a scoop to create a
easy entry for Sofie. I'm thinking of
stenciling her name on the front, or
"dog blessed"
This is definitely a rustic/shabby project.
Meaning I didn't want to fuss with it.
I just rubbed the front with mineral oil.
It brought out the wood tones plus it's
non-toxic. I use it to condition the wood on
my kitchen island as well as a few projects
Again, it's the easiest and fastest thing to do.
The best part about this basket is that it is
the right size for a standard pillow. I have a
stack of old pillowcases, so I can change her
bedding weekly, or just flip the pillow over
 for another week .
This one is a blue and white stripe.
I put it in the family room to see
if she would get in on her own.
She did! Time for a nap.
 Precious!

Cheers!

Twin Trellises For The Entry

We recently added these twin trellises to
our front entry patio area.
I love the look of a trellis and
try to sneak them in wherever I can.
This makes a total of 5 against the
outside walls around the house and
3 trellis arbors in our yard.
See those projects HERE, and HERE.
Here's the front entry before.
These jasmine pots on either side of my
front entry French doors were just starting
to grow long enough to begin their trail up.
First we measured for the center and
height we would use. I needed to consider
what size we could build using the scrap
pieces of 1x1 wood we had in the garage
for this project. I'm all about
 using what we have.
We use this simple trellis design because we
can easily customize the size for our needs.
Larry cut the pieces angling the end cuts
as we have in the other trellis projects.
The right side before. I will need to find
another spot for this "M" monogram sign
board I made a few years ago HERE.
The right side after. We painted the
trellis using leftover exterior house
paint so that it would blend in.
The jasmine is now filling in nicely.
The left side after.
The left side filling in.
The jasmine has grown quite a bit since
we first installed something for them to
make their climb. I fiddle with the fast
growing wine, tucking it in, over, and
 under as needed. Tweeking.
Our next project was to paint our front
door. Guess what color? Next post!

Cheers!
