2017 Smalls SAL finish and a Little Crocheting

Here is the first cross stitch finish of 2017 and the one I stitched for the 2017 Smalls SAL.  This will be finished as a wee pillow for my seasonal dough bowl.

And here are little bears that I've crocheted for my knit/crochet group's charity project, Project Linus.  These are pretty quick and are fun to do.  We get lots of donated yarn throughout the year and I have a big box of assorted colors...some are just little bits. I try to use everything up by making stripes.  They are great little "to go" projects, so I try to keep one or two kitted and ready to pick up at a moment's notice!

These two were made for a friend that is having a baby in June.

We've gotten lots of snow and rain these past couple of weeks since the beginning of the new year.  Here is a pic from my laundry room window late in the day of the snow covered mountains with low clouds hovering above them.  It's a bit hard to tell where the mountains end and the clouds begin..Our snow down here is about gone.  I would have gone out to take it, but too cold!!

Thanks for stopping by!

BAP Update

Here it is, nearly the middle of February! Where does the time go? We are expecting some wintery weather later this evening, and into the night. Should get a little snow and freezing rain, but we won't be snowbound for days and days as last year. The temps should be back up in a couple of days to normal or above normal. But, hopefully I'll get some stitchy time by the fire!

This is the Day is moving along nicely and much quicker than I expected. I think the BAP Challenge has motivated me to continue stitching, instead of putting it aside and starting something new. Depending on the light, the windows seem to fade into the house color, so a bit of outlining may be necessary.

Last week I spent some time going through my fabrics, and re-folding and re-sorting by color. It hadn't been done in a while. I picked out several pieces and made some project pouches with zippers for some of my larger WIPs on stretcher bars. Hope to get some more done soon, but need to pick up a few more long zippers.

I'm thinking I need to get a pot of soup going, and maybe something baking in the oven to heat up the kitchen! Umm! Sounds good...

Guess what's under this snow drift!!

Well, Tulsa woke up to a lot of snow and more piled up as the day went on. So far we have broken the record of 12.9 inches from 1994...we are now at 13.8 inches. We aren't used to that much around here! There has been absolutely no traffic on my street, and from what we see on the TV, very little out there at all.

We are set up for several days of being snowed in. The temp is about 10, and won't be above freezing until at least Saturday. I just heard that there is another "event" coming our way about Mon or Tues of next week. (Our temps over this past weekend were around 70)

Oh, the snow drift out back is covering our 2 air conditioning units sitting on a concrete slab! Pic was taken from indoors--I'm not going out there! LOL

EDIT: The final tally is a record 14 inches of snow for Tulsa--4 records broken-all time annual, 24 hr snowfall, month of February and Feb 1st.

More Snow!

Quaker Rose
Little by Little

We're getting more snow today! We started the day with rain, but now it's below freezing and the snow is coming down. At least I don't have to get out in it for the rest of the night.

A new chart came in the mail! I want to start Quaker Rose soon. I am going to use a piece of cream/ivory linen that I already have in my stash. I might try to dye it before using, but have not done so in years. I don't like fabric too splotchy and mottled, though. The blue in the design matches my blue bedroom, which just got painted this summer and so far has only one picture hung up.

I went to Hobby Lobby early this morning for a frame, mat and glass. I have something (secret stitching) for someone special. I didn't get it stitched as soon as I'd hoped due to my wrist surgery, and therefore won't be able to have it framed in time for me. No problem...I'll just do it! Will post pic after recipient gets it.

Ice Storm! and Another Finish

Symbols of the Season Sampler
Eileen Bennett
32 ct Ivory Linen, DMC Floss
finished October 2007

We had sleet most of the night, lightning and thunder. This morning there were trees, limbs, and power lines down all over town. My own yard was not spared. A tree in the back crashed against the house, narrowly missing a window. During the day, one in the front split and fell into the street, leaving just enough room to sqeeze by in the car. Hopefully more of that tree won't fall during the night, because the rest of it will come crashing through the living room window!

Meg's Bunny

There isn't much left to stitch and this one will be complete.
We started getting freezing rain last night. I heard it hitting the window during the night, along with thunder! This morning everything was covered with a layer of ice. The temperatures hovered around freezing all day-it may have gotten above 32, but I don't know for sure. More on the way tonight, so tomorrow morning should be a real mess...

Just a few more days until I get my stitches out!
