It's Been A Long Time!

Wow!  I can't believe how long it's been since my last post!  We had just gotten back from our 5 week trip and for one reason or another I just got busy!!  More on that later!   :)

Here are some of the last few stitching finishes:

Hardanger Heart
Gloria and Pat
started by Aunt Becky in the 80's - finished by me 3/21/2013

This darling little heart was started by my aunt and I brought it back to finish for her.  It's so sweet and I'll have to stitch up a few more!!

Another finish for my aunt:

This one is a design that I've had since 1976!  It's an historic house in my hometown, Charleston, SC.  This designer published lots of lovely charts of Charleston houses and landmarks, and I managed to aquire many before I moved away.  (In fact, the pic of Rainbow Row in my header is one of her designs that I stitched twice.)  You can view the house and more pictures at the Historic Charleston Foundation site.  The house has a red door presently, but the design was charted for a white door.  I did a little internet research and found pictures from the 1970's of a white door, so I stitched the white and like the results.  May I present The Nathaniel Russell House, located at 51 Meeting Street in Charleston:

I'm really trying not to add much to my stash right now, but I couldn't help getting these two cuties!  The one from LHN is their first design.  I couldn't believe I actually found a copy at my LNS recently!  Thought I might get them stitched for July 4th of this year, but that didn't happen!

My heart is heavy for the family and the community of Prescott, AZ for the loss of their 19 firefighters.  Such a sad event...

Santa Moon

 Santa Moon
The Prairie Schooler
11/29/2011 - 3/16/2013

This little guy had been sitting in the "needing to be stitched" pile for a while!  Brought it with me and only took a couple of hours to finish up!

While visiting my aunt last month, we went through some of her unfinished needlework.  Her eyesight has gotten bad and she can't see to stitch any longer.  She has done some gorgeous work (crewel embroidery, needlepoint, smocking) over the years and she misses being able to do it now.  She started counted cross stitch about 30 years ago after a wreck that took her husband and injured her very badly.  Both of her hands and wrists were broken and she used the stitching for some physical and mental healing.  There were several cross stitch and silk ribbon embroidery pieces that have been started that she would like to have finished so I told her I'd try to finish them for her.  She will mail everything to me, but  I brought 2 of the tiny ones home to start.  The lighthouse is not my favorite color palette, so it may take a while...

The little Hardanger heart is nearly complete so I can get it off to her soon I hope!

Thanks for stopping by!
