Harvest Blessing

Harvest Blessing

Mary Beale

32 ct linen  2 over 2

Harvest Blessing was completed last night!  I just love the combination of colors. It took longer than I thought it would, but every stitch was enjoyable!  I may have a frame that will work for it...will have to go into the depths of my sewing/craft room closet soon to check!  I charted a tiny vine and flower to add to the area where the initials and date are. It just seemed to be too much "blank" space otherwise.

Now, I can look through my stash and kitted projects to see what might catch my eye.  Of course there are always older WIPs I could be working on...  We'll see!

This past week my dear aunt passed away. She would have been 100 on her birthday, April 4th.  Even though I haven't been able to visit her a lot over the past years, we've kept in touch. She was the last of my aunts/uncles on either side of the family.  I'll miss her.

I used to receive email notifications when a comment was made on my blog. Nothing has been showing up and I can't for the life of me figure out how to get this reset. Lots of changes have been made to Blogger and I've done what was suggested to do in the help section.  Nothing seems to work.  If anyone can help, I'd appreciate any suggestions. I like to acknowledge all comments, but for now I just can't.

Thanks for stopping by!  Be safe!

Nearly Finished!

I’ve been stitching on Harvest Blessing and it’s nearly finished. I have the background around the house, tree and hill left to stitch in DMC 927. That will take a while! Also I have the space under the house for my name and date. Can’t decide if I want to add name or initials, along with date or maybe even my state. Any thoughts?

Hubby and I had our second COVID vaccine on Friday. My arm was sore, and yesterday I felt achy, very tired and had the usual flu symptoms. But today I’m totally fine. Well worth it!

January Update

I only made 1 new start for the New Year, Harvest Blessing by Mary Beale. I have thoroughly enjoyed this one...the colors are so beautiful and it has kept my interest. Every night I put a few stitches in ...its not going very fast, but that's OK.  I usually fall asleep while all tucked under my nice warm snug blankie while watching TV!! 😀  Here is a progress pic.

I'm also getting a few stitches done on 2009 Santa from JCS Ornament 2009.  I guess the monotony of almost all blue isn't as fun as I had hoped...  But, the end result will be nice.

What has taken most of my stitch time the past week or so has been something that I'm making for my two little granddaughters. I was having some sewing machine issues and getting very frustrated.  Hubby took it out to his shop and did a little "tune up", and now it's sewing beautifully! I can't show just now, but will post a pic when finished and they have received them.  My goal is to be finished this week and have in the mail early next week so the package will be there for Valentine's Day!

The Hubs and I were able to get our first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine in January!  I'm so thankful that we were able to get it, and now I'm excited to have appointments to get the second dose in a couple of weeks.  Now, I feel like we will have some protection going forward.  It's been over a year since seeing the family in person and so long since being able to travel. We really miss "the norm".

Thanks for stopping by and stay safe!

Current WIPs

In the past I would start something new, stitch a bit to see how it looked, and then start something else, stitch, repeat. This would result in a LOT of unfinished pieces! Over the last several years I have done much better. I've actually finished up some larger samplers and haven't started too many at one time!  That's not to say that I don't have a number of WIPs stashed, but at the "current" time I am stitching on 4 that I have sitting by my stitching chair.

I used the wrong color for the house. I used 356 instead of 632. It probably won't matter, but it will be frogged and restitched...

Even though this isn't a really dark blue, I find that I need to stitch this one in the brighter time of day!

Earlier in the week I thought about making a Dutch Baby.  I'd never made or eaten one, but the pictures on Pinterest sure looked good!  For this one I put blueberries on one side and small dollops of raspberry preserves on the other.  After it baked, sprinkled with powdered sugar, and put fresh blueberries and strawberries on top.  It was really easy and very good.

I try to keep vegetable soup made up for my lunches.  A big pot will usually make enough for about 10-12 days.  I'd already eaten lunch (2 bowls ha ha), so only had 10 to put away.  Several days go in the fridge and the rest go in the freezer until needed. Don't use a recipe...just eyeball it!
