Fall Stitching

Ahhh! Fall!! I've done a bit of stitching...small pieces to finish into wee pillows for the bowl.

After the Alaska cruise we were only home for a few days before leaving once again!  This time to see DD, SIL, and the beautiful granddaughters!!!  They just recently moved back to CA from Denver so our drive was not as long.  We spent a couple of nights in Las Vegas on the way!  Always a fun place to visit. This time Hubby surprised me with show tickets to Chippendales!  It was fun!  I wasn't the oldest gal there and he wasn't the only guy!  There were at least 5 others!

For this one I used Carol's thread substitutions for the crow, border and pumpkin, EXCEPT I used 977 instead of 976 for the lighter shade in pumpkin.  The 976 just wasn't enough of a contrast.  I'm happy with it! This was a free design some years ago.

Three Finishes for the New Year!

After being away from Blogger for a long while, here I am again!  Just have not been very consistent.  But, I have been stitching!

First off is a very tiny first finish for 2018!  I stitched on 14 ct. Aida as it's a little one. Put the chart away already, but I think it is Snowman by Bent Creek. Will finish as a wee pillow for my bowl. I've stitched this one several times over the years...I just think he is too cute!

Next up is Irish Sampler Pincushion from Nostalgic Needle. This has been in the stash for a long while and finally got it stitched.  I can't find it online, so this design may be OOP.  I think it turned out lovely.  And, it was fun to stitch! It's on 35 count natural linen.

And, today's finish is LOVE (??) from The Workbasket. This one is stitched on 18 count Aida...had the perfect little piece and after stitching, its the perfect size for the way I plan to finish -finish.  (Hope to be back in a few days with that) The thread is Victorian Motto Antique Barn Red. I like the color, but there isn't a lot of variation in the shading.

Is it just me or do the pictures take a long time to load??? I don't remember it taking so long before...

Ornament finishes and gifts

During our visit with my aunt in November, she gave me this wooden bread bowl which belonged to my grandparents.  It was handmade by his brother for them when they married in 1896!  My aunt says she can remember her mother using it to make bread dough or biscuit dough every day for their large family.  I have been wanting a wooden bowl for some time to use to display my stitchy smalls!  It's rather long, so will take a lot of them to fill it!  Now, I will have another goal for the coming year - make lots more smalls and actually finish them!!!  But, I am so so happy to have it!  Thanks Aunt Becky!

She also gave me this butter mold with a pretty flower design that belonged to my grandmother.

I did the finish for 2 more ornaments, but still have a few more to go.

Thanks for stopping by!

Happy Stitching!

Another Tiny Finish and Something Crazy!

The Little Santa (#3)
Bent Creek
c. 2005
10/7/2012 - 10/13/2012

Here's another little finish.  I just love this Santa!  (This is the 3rd time to stitch him)  This time was on a 20 count mystery fabric from my stash with DMC Perle Cotton # 5. I need to plan some time to do the finishing on several smalls very soon!  Will post pics as I do.

Now, the crazy part... DH and I have progressively been staying up later and later.  Last night we started watching a movie about 1:30 a.m.  Then, after that another one, and then a few shows that we had recorded.  Pretty soon we decided we were hungry, so had the bright idea (or crazy idea) to head over to Micky D's for breakfast.  I think we were there by 6:30 a.m. or so!  Our coffee revived us, so then we went grocery shopping and then home by 9!  Took a brief nap early afternoon, and have felt like *!#@ the rest of today!  I feel like I do when I don't sleep on a flight across the pond (which is every time) and try to put in a full day before collapsing!  Will be in bed by midnight for sure!!!

EDIT:  OOPS!  I SEE THAT I HAVEN'T STITCHED THE WHITE POM POM ON HIS HAT!
