Sunnuntaisormia

Muutama kuvaton postaus takana joten tässä sunnuntain kunniaksi vähän sormileikkiä Scavenger Hunt-haasteen merkeissä.  //  This sunday I decided to do my Scavenger hunt with fingers and hands.

Had no luck with the flowing water this time so here's  lets say a very artistic take on the matter.

No explanation needed here.

That's our house. The old picture is taken way before I was born.

And that's my husband, I just love his hands! He can do all kinds of magic with them, here some tablet weaving. 

Almost all acorns were gone, eaten by squirrels and a couple of jays.

Sunny Shadow Sunday

Back to Scavenger hunting! I've been so exited on my new hobby (medieval handicraft) that it's taken over all my free time. But since our little dinosaur is in a rock concert with her godmother today, I've had plenty of time to do both handicraft AND photographing! Great!

Here's my take on this weeks Scavenger Hunt items.

At first I was going to go out to photograph as usual, but since the sun came inside for me I decided to stay with it. Here's my favourite glass in the whole world. We've got a pair of these, bought them for our wedding. So beautiful, both the glass and our wedding! And look what a magical shadow it makes!

These old keys came with the house, but I don't think the locks for them exist anymore. 

I tried to make my husband smile for the camera but he went all shy on me. Isn't he cute! That's my new medieval hat in his head, I thought it might make a fun picture, him with my huge hat.

Here's the same hat a little closer. Unedited, all I did was crop and title.

I have all kinds of beautifully coloured spices in my spice rack, but I was lazy and chose the ones that would make the smallest mess when spreaded on a table: Bay leafs.  But is bay leaf a spice or a herb?

Ordinary autumn colours

Scavenger hunting is so much fun! When looking for items that someone else came up with, one tends to stumble upon things that otherwise would have been missed. That's the beauty of it, opening your eyes for something new!

That being said, I must admit that sometimes it's just too much to find the perfect thing to shoot. This one for example is very obviously cracked and I would have wanted to find something more suprising (and less boring). But this one fits the prompt (almost too well) so here it is.

No explanation needed here. They're fallen, out of a tree. Not the same tree, though. 

I wasn't completely sure what they wanted with this prompt. I mean, what is ordinary, colourwise? Well, this here is common and kinda plain, does that make it ordinary?

But bokeh I know! Bokeh is my new friend! And this one most definitely is not an ordinary colour!

This is our old fence, still standing! I love the bluish lichen on it. This, by the way, was one of those times when I was so glad my neighbours didn't see me!

Something simple

It's sunday again, so lets do some scav hunting!  //   Kun on ensin muutaman päivän kadoksissa, on hyvä antaa kuulua itsestään kahden postauksen verran samana iltana. Vaikka olenkin korviani myöten innoissani keskiaikahaaveiluista ei se tarkoita sitä ettenkö olisi ehtinyt tehdä mitään muuta. Olenhan sentään! Mm. tänään kävin keräämässä suppilovahveroita, maalasin oranssilla ja kiipesin räystäälle. Ja koska on sunnuntai, näpsin kuvia Scavenger Hunttia varten.

Ok, I know this is almost too cute to be published, but what can you expect if the prompt is Kiss! And come on, my heart just melts when I look at this one.  //  Ok, tajuan kyllä että tämä on melkein liian söpö julkaistavaksi, mutta mitä voi odottaa jos aiheena on Kiss. Mutta siis katsokaa nyt tätä. Sydän sulaa!

Everything in this photo is askew, even my husband. He is cleaning the carage roof, by the way.  //  Tässä kuvassa ei ole varmaan mitään mikä ei olisi vinossa. Puu on vinossa, tikkaat on vinossa, autotallin katto on vinossa joten tottakai myös kattoa haravoiva (!) mieheni on vinossa. Onneksi meillä ei silti ole mikään vinossa vaan kaikki on vallan mainiosti!

Don't you just love the smell of thyme?  //  Yrttipenkkini jossa timjami varastaa shown. Ihana tuoksu!

It was suprisingly difficult to find something simple enough to photograph for this one.  //  Olipa vaikeaa virittää aivot Simple-taajuudelle. Luulisi olevan yksinkertaista mutta kuva-aihetta etsiessä tuntui että mikään ei lopulta ole tarpeeksi ilmiselvän yksinkertaista. Kai se on vähän makuasiakin. 

This actually is a plant. I mean, can you believe that this color is for real!  //   Se on kasvi, hyvin värikäs sellainen. Ihan uskomatonta että luonnossa voi olla tuollaisia värejä ihan itsestään. Se oranssi jota tänään maalasin ei ollut ihan yhtä kirkas kuin tämä, mutta melkein.

Hairy cats and other stuff

Trying to teach my self to use the manual settings in my camera. It's freakin' hard and most of my images suck, which is a bummer. It's frustrating, to see that there is something wrong with the pictures but not being able to tell what I did wrong and what should I do to make it right. Trial and error, a million times... A few times though I've been positively stunned of what I'll be able to do with it IF I ever get good enough. This is an exiting jurney, I must say! And a very addictive one too...  //  Yritän edelleen opetella käyttämään kamerani manuaaliasetuksia. Se on tosi vaikeaa, on turhauttavaa kun näen että kuvassa on jotain pielessä mutta en tiedä mitä pitäisi tehdä tai säätää että niin ei olisi. Pitää vaan yrittää ja yrittää ja yrittää... Muutaman kerran olen kyllä yllättynyt positiivisesti kun olen löytänyt kamerasta ominaisuuksia joiden avulla voi saada vaikka mitä hienoa aikaiseksi, jos vain opin sitä kunnolla käyttämään. Tämä on kyllä ihan mahdottomaan hauskaa ja jännittävää, ja koukuttavaakin!

Here's what I came up with for this weeks scavenger hunt  //  Ja sitten minun tämän viikon scavenger hunt-kuvani:

1. Monochromatic

Bergenia Basic Plant. I hate them, so booooooring! And we have a huge field of them in our garden...  //  Monochromatic tarkoittaa yksiväristä ja sitä nämä Bergenia peruskasvit kyllä ovatkin, ja niiiiiiin tylsiä. En tykkää niistä yhtään mutta niitä on meidän pihalla iso pelto..

2. Upside Down

Upside Down and laughing hysterically! She is such a monkey, has always loved this kind of  stuff.  //  Ylösalaisin ja kikattaa hysteerisesti! Tuollainen se on ollut aina, mitä hurjempi meno, sen parempi.

3. Starts with the letter...

Some Teabags in a Teabox. Starts with the letter...  //  Teepusseja Teelaatikossa, alkaa Teekirjaimella.

4. Hair

This is the hairiest man in our house.  //  Tässä on meidän talouden karvaisin mies.

5. Soft

Soft kitty, warm kitty, little ball of fur. Happy kitty, sleepy kitty, pur, pur, pur.........

And this is our soft and beautiful girl. Not sleepy or happy, though. Only pissed at me and my camera in her face.  //  Ja tässä pehmeä kaunotar. Ilmeestä näkee että ihan kohta menee hermot naaman edessä räpsyvään kameraan.

Dogs and green stuff

Looks like all my scavenger items are green this week! Let's say I did that on purpose to celebrate the last bits of summer!  --  Kuvasin näköjään pelkästään vihreitä kuvia tämän sunnuntain scavenger hunt-haasteeseen. Sovitaan vaikka että tein sen tarkoituksella, kesän viime metrien kunniaksi!

1. School

I'm on photography home school. Well, I don't have a teacher and I'm too exited to even read the manual, but I'm trying to learn by experience. And LOOK, orbs!!!  --  Olen valokuvauskotikoulussa. No en ole oikeasti, eihän minulla ole opettajaa enkä malta edes ohjekirjaa katsoa. Mutta hei katsokaa, valopalloja!

(If you are here only for the scav hunt, you don't know yet that I've got a new SLR camera that I got from my husband. I couldn't be happier! If you are intrested, you can see some camera trainig shots here and here.)

2. Rule of Thirds

This one was going to be "side profile", but figured it works better here. I had to google up the rule of thirds, for I had no idea what it means. But here it is:  --  Tästä piti tulla sivuprofiilikuva mutta se toimiikin paremmin tässä. Piti googlata tämä rule of thirds koska en tajunnut yhtään mitä se tarkoittaa. Mutta siis tätä:

If you divide the image in three parts both diagonally and vertically, the focal point and all the other important stuff should be on the lines or on their cross points. That should make the image more powerful. Cool!  --  Kun kuvan jakaa pysty- ja vaakasuunnassa kolmeen osaan, kaiken tärkeän pitäisi olla viivoilla tai niiden risteyskohdissa. Ja sitten kuva näyttää heti paljon vaikuttavammalta!

3. Side Profile

Here's the "side profile" then. The darling hound is back on his feet again. Notice the cunning use of the rule of thirds!  --  Tästä tuli sitten se sivuprofiilikuva. Koiruus on onneksi taas kunnossa. Huomatkaa rule of thirdsin ovela käyttö!

4. Small

A wee flower! I really really want a macro lens but it seems that they cost more than my camera. Have to do some saving first! And allso coul'd be a good idea to learn how to use the basic settings first. --  No onhan tämä hyvin pieni kukkanen! Haluaisin kyllä makro-objektiivin, mutta pikainen googlaus osoitti että ne maksaa enemmän kuin kamerani.. Täytyy vissiin aloittaa säästäminen! Hyvä idea voisi myös olla, että opettelisi ensin käyttämään tätä kameraa...

5. Motion

Last and most definitely least. Tried to make the old man move but he wasn't too exited about it as you can see. And I think I left the camera on macro settings or something.  --  Sitten vielä viimeisin ja todellakin tällä kertaa vähäisin. Yritin saada vanhan ukon liikkumaan mutta hän ei oikein innostunut ajatuksesta. Ja taisin unohtaa kamerankin makroasetuksille tai jotain..

Scavenger Hunting in the morning

Oh my, it's sunday again!

1. Forest

We went to a medieval fair this weekend and spent the night in a tent. This was our view at the campsite, not bad at all! I just love the morning mist above the water and the sun at the tree tops. It was beautiful!

Viikonlopun keskiaikamarkkinareissulla yövyimme Aulangon leirintäalueella. Aika hienot ovat näkymät rannassa! Veden päällä kelluva usva ja aamuaurinko puiden latvoissa olivat kaunista katsottavaa.

2. Morning Light

I had my alarm clock set at eight to take this picture. I was out and about at 8.30, for some of us it IS early! Maybe not the best morning light hour though. (If only I had known that the wake-up at the campsite was even earlier, I would have stayed in bed!) But it's a good thing I got up, for I was lucky enough to find this little guy, warming up in the first rays of sun. Bear in mind this was the very first time I was able to capture a spiders web with my camera! Maybe I have actually learned something during my first year with the photographing fever! Made me sooooo happy happy and a little proud of myself too!

Yleensä olen erittäin aamu-uninen tapaus, mutta tämän kuvan ottamista varten piti laittaa herätyskello soimaan jo kahdeksalta. (Joka muuten on joillekin hyvin aikainen!) Tosin ei ehkä aamuvalon kannalta enää paras mahdollinen aika... Jos olisin tiennyt että leirintäalueherätys oli vieläkin aikaisempi, olisin suosiolla nukkunut loma-aamuna pidempään. Onneksi kuitenkin heräsin sillä törmäsin tähän kaveriin joka lämmitteli aamuauringossa ja kuivatteli seittiään. On muuten ensimmäinen kerta kun sain hämähäkin seitin tarttumaan kameralle, yleensä onnistun aina tarkentamaan takana oleviin asioihin. Olen siis ehkä oppinut jotakin tämän ensimmäisen valokuvaushulluusvuoteni aikana!

3. Touch

The cleaning of the blueberries going on. Couldn't choose which picture to use so I made a pair out of them, they kinda need one another. There's allso a double meaning to this one, firstly the amazing connection between my girl and her dad, secondly the gentle touch you have to use to clean the berries and not to break them.

Tässä putsataan mustikoita. En pystynyt päättämään kumman kuvista käytän, ne jotenkin tarvitsevat toisiaan joten saavat olla pari. Tämä kuvaa ihanasti noiden kahden välistä yhteyttä. Ja kosketusta myös arkisemmassa merkityksessä, nimittäin täytyyhän noita mustikoita koskea hyvin hellävaraisesti etteivät ne liiskaannu.

4. Newspaper

This is my daughter reading the car and boat commercials at a newspaper. Notice her hands in the big picture, boats and cars are serious business!!

Tytär lukee auto- ja venemainoksia sanomalehdestä. Huomaa ison kuvan käsien asento, autot ja veneet ovat vakava asia johon täytyy paneutua!

5. Coffee or Tea

This one is also taken at the campsite. While I was of taking pictures of the lake, my husband and daughter were making breakfast and coffee with the trangia stove. So, there IS coffee in this picture even though you can't see it! The morning light is pretty in this one too.

Tämäkin on napattu siellä leirintäalueella. Mies ja tyttö tekivät aamupalaa ja keittivät kahvetta trangialla sillä aikaa kun minä haahuilin rannassa napsimassa usvakuvia. Kuvassa on siis kahviakin vaikka ette sitä voikaan nähdä! Aamuvalo on minusta tässäkin kaunis.
