Kotoisaa - Cosy

Viikonloppuna otimme kunnon urakan ja siivosimme ja levitimme mattoja pitkin kylmiä lattioita. Ja mies innostui purkamaan ärsyttävän kiinteän kirjahyllyn että saatiin siirrettyä sohva - ja voi pojat että piristyi koko oleminen kun vähän muuttaa järjestystä ja siivoaa ja sisustaa. On niin kotoisaa että! Sen kunniaksi piti räpsiä muutamia kotoisia kuvia.  

We cleaned the house on the weekend and did some rearranging of the furniture. Plus we added lots of carpets on our cold floors. Now it's so cosy and nice in here that I just had to take some cosy pictures.

Nyt ollaan sitten oikein trendikkäitä näiden räsymattojemme kanssa!

Ad a purring cat, candle light and a fire in the fireplace and it gets almost too cosy!

Puutarhan vuosi: September

I started in january to write a monthly series about my garden. What to do each month and so on.. I had the plant of the month and all! But somehow I just lost intrest. But writing one post per month can't be too much, right! At least it's a good reason to post alot of garden pictures!  //  Ihan innoissani aloitin puutarhan vuosi-juttuja vuoden alussa kirjoittamaan, vanhassa blogissa listailin ajankohtaisia puutarhahommia ja kuukauden kasveja ja vaikka mitä... mutta niin se vaan innostus hiipui. Jos nyt kuitenkin jonkunlaisen koosteen kerran kuussa jaksan laittaa, ei olisi enää montaa kuukautta tätä vuotta jäljellä. Sitä paitsi, hyvä syy postailla puutarhakuvia!

So, what's happening in my garden in september? Rowanberries are getting red and all the leaves are getting yellow. Mushrooms are growing all over the grass and it's raining all the time.  //  Mitä puutarhalle siis kuuluu syyskuussa? Pihlajanmarjat punertaa ja lehdet kellertää. Sieniä kasvaa pitkin nurmikkoa ja vettä sataa melkein koko ajan (se nyt ei ole mitään uutta..).

Midsommer rose is the most colourfull of them all!  //  Juhannusruusu on punaisin. Kiiltotuhkapensas on kohta punaisin.

And what to do in september? Raking, fallen apples and leaves and them mushrooms.  //  Mitä pihalla tehdään syyskuussa? Haravoidaan omenoita ja lehtiä ja niitä sieniä. 

A special kind of beauty in withering flowers.  //  Lakastuvissa kukkasissa on ihan omanlaista kauneutta.

The hydrangea is glowing all pink!  //  Syyshortensia helottaa vaaleanpunaisena ja kelloköynnös päätti vihdoin alkaa kukkia.

And my kitchen garden?  //  Mitäs kasvimaalle?

Still some courgettes coming and tomatoes and beans! But who is munching away the beans leaves?  //  Kesäkurpitsoita ja tomaatteja tulee vielä... ja ihan yhtäkkiä alkoi tulla papuja! Olin jo luopunut toivosta. Mutta kuka rouskuttaa pavun lehtiä?

Color me with red and green

My garden has given us lots of green and red stuf. I've tried to cook something of them.

I loooove beetroots and planted lots of them.

And courgettes. We got a lot of them too, they tend to come in millions. We've put courgette in everything. We also made lasagne out of it -courgette, beetroots and blue cheese. It should have been amazing but it wasn't. Oh well.

We pickled the rest of the beets...

...and some cucumbers too.

The courgette was amazing with some tomatoes, onions and herbs, all of them from our own garden!

Magical fairytale forest

We visited an arboretum yesterday. I'm sure all of you understand that it's impossible for me to walk through an arboretum without taking a million pictures. So, here's some of them.

Entering the forest. It is such a magical place! My husband allways laughs at me when I stop and take in the green, just fuel myself with fresh forest air. There is just something about certain types of forest.

The old trees in Mustila are huge, makes you want to look up all the time. These trees are so magnificent they  have some kind of power in them. Just walking amongst them makes one feel a bit stronger.

It's a good thing this tree says "Hug me", so I could do that without looking all crazy. It would have needed ten mes to reach around it, though. (You can see the crazy tree-hugging-picture here.)

Nature is just amazing, isn't it! (Of course, this being an arboretum, nature has had a little help from some very skilled horticulturalists.)

Had to take some macro shots too. I'm slowly becoming a macro fanatic, it's just so cool to be able to create something different than what you can see with naked eye. There is no bokeh in real life but I can make one appear with my camera, that is just so exiting!

Here's some self-made polka dot orbs, for I had no luck with them this time. (Well, there is one orb in the image above...)

You know how water sometimes gathers on the roof of a tent. My husband just couldn't resist the temptation to go poke a bit, and I couldn't resist taking a picture. I used the paparazzi-mode, aka sport-setting with multi shot action. This is not a very artistic series of images, but how cool doest that water look!

Chili peppers and tomatoes

I missed out on last sundays Scavenger hunt and allmost this one too since it's too dark to take pictures at 22.30 when I came home. But I decided to pull these from my archives. I took them last week.    //   Scavenger hunt jäi välistä ja melkein näytti pahalta että niin jää ColorMe weeklykin kun iltavuoron jälkeen ei voi enää valokuvata, mutta päätin sitten kuitenkin kaivaa arkistojen kätköistä pari viime viikolla napattua sato-kuvaa.

These might never get red and ripe, it's too cold allready.  //  Ehtiiköhän nämä vihreät ikinä punaiseksi...

We've tasted a couple of red ones from this bush.  //  Näitä ollaan muutama punainenkin herkku päästy maistamaan.

The chili harvest is pretty exiting stuff!  //  Chilinkorjuu oli taas tosi jännää.

They're almost too beautiful to eat!  //  Melkein liian hienoja syötäväksi!
