O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!

My lovely story, LONG WAY HOME*, is now complete and while there are still revisions and more drafts ahead of me I am celebrating by putting it aside and allowing myself to write whatever the heck I want for two whole weeks.Yippee!!!

Oh, and Happy Fourth of July!!!

PS If you came by for first impressions I'm afraid you'll have to wait for Friday. Dianne and I decided that we'd skip the holiday in case folks were busy celebrating. And if you're not celebrating, then by all means, raise one on my account :)

*working title - I actually have a new title which I will share at some point, just not quite yet...

thank you

KarenG over at Coming Down The Mountain mentioned something recently about losing followers and I don’t know if it’s happened to you but it happened to me. It was a few months back and I remember logging on and seeing my number of followers reduced – by one. I was devastated. What had I done? Did I post badly? Was I offensive? There was no way to know because whoever chose to unfollow me never let me know why. I just had to let them go.

But I’ll tell you something, losing one made me grateful for every follower I got after that and now that I’m up to 73 (woohoo!!!) I’m actually beginning to feel like there are a few people who find me worth reading. And for the girl who was always picked last for the team and teased relentlessly throughout junior high that means more than you can imagine.

Anyway, I just wanted to say thanks and give something back to all of you. So, for the rest of this month I’m giving away my one-of-a-kind bookmarks (scroll down to the right to see samples) to anyone who wants one. Just click on contact me and write bookmark in the subject line.

THANK YOU!

First Day of Spring

Not only is it here, but it is amazingly beautiful outside. The sun is shining, the birds are singing, and I actually went out onto my porch in my bare feet; that's how warm it is. I believe I may even sit out there and soak it up before heading off to my noontime appointment at the vet.

Meanwhile, I've sent off another few queries and am pretty well immersed in my latest, namesake. I am still where I left off (Arlen and Louis are about to head down to the boathouse where they will discover something unpleasant), but that's only because I've gone back to the beginning twenty times to repair, edit, and add to what is already there. I've also joined another writing site which happened to mention one of the agencies I sent my query off to so if you're reading this, cross your fingers for me because I am ready for my ISBN number.

Happy Spring and Happy Birthday to my sweet little niece, Sanbate, and my dear departed Dad.

Thank you

It is good to have a day when you think of all the things you're grateful for. Because the chances are, there are probably quite a lot. I am grateful I woke up alive this morning (rather than dead). It is always good to be alive. I am grateful for my large and wonderful family. We all love each other - even when we don't. I am so thankful I have a place to live that is fairly well made, a stable job, a car that runs well (thank you toyota), my beloved computer, high-speed internet (what would I do without it?), a writing buddy (thank you Sheri!), cats that use their litterbox, a yard big enough to mow, leagues upon leagues of logging trails to walk with my foolish dog, Jonah, no smokestacks or bad smells in my town, an award winning bookstore within walking distance, leaves to rake, snow to shovel, peepers in the spring, fireflies blinking at the edge of my property on hot summer nights, and the ability to see the beauty that surrounds me no matter what the season.
