Op Shop Find!

When walking the dogs last week, I saw this cute little machine in the
window of a local op shop. By the time got home, it was opening time
for the shop. I gave them a call and asked for it to be put behind the
counter for me as I didn't want to miss out before I got there.
After having a closer look, it came home with me.
It is a 1940's machine manufactured by the EL Grain Sewing Machines Ltd
in Nottingham, England. You can read about them here
The plate is a bit scratched but I don't care. It's now sitting on top of the
cupboard of my Anker treadle machine I rescued from the skip a little while ago.

Noel just rolled his eyes when he spotted "another machine"!

Op Shop Find

This book in the window of my local op shop caught my eye as I was walking
the dogs. I headed back once the shop opened as I had to have it!
I just love the cover. Even better was it only cost $2!
Annabella Boswell's Journal
Life in the 1830's and 1840's
It is illustrated with her own water colours and
drawings and was published in 1965.
Beautiful illustrations.

I'm looking forward to reading this once I finish my current book.
It will be interesting to read about Annabella's life.

Look What I Found!

I popped back to Savers today as when I was there on Friday, I saw some frames but wanted to check if these were the size needed. The frames are the perfect size for Natalie Bird's stitcheries. They are brand new as they still had the cardboard on the corners and only cost $3 each.
I think they will be lovely painted.
And look what else I found.
Two more bar tins!
That gives me a total of four which is perfect.

Op Shop Finds!

It's time to start my Christmas baking and that
includes almond bread. I bake it in a bar tin.
I've been looking for another one for quite a long time
as I only had the one. Today Austin, Nelson and I
popped into Savers and I found one!
Now I'll be able to bake two loaves at once.
 At an excellent price too!
I don't think I've shown you this doily.
I picked it up at St Vinnies for only 50 cents.
Another one to add to my collection.

Don't you love a good Op Shop find!

Op Shop Finds!

On Friday when we took Molly for a walk, we went past
the Op Shop and I saw this out the front. Actually, there were two but the other one had a very big stain on the top. This one is in perfect condition. It doesn't even look as though it's been used much. I've been wanting to get a stool for sometime now for when I am sitting stitching.
It's even very comfortable to sit on.
Just ask Molly!
She decided that there was room for her as well!
After seeing the beautiful treasures Jenny of Elefantz found at her Op Shop, I went over the the linen section. There wasn't really anything that jumped out at me but I did find this gorgeous Christmas serviette(?).
It has the tiniest of cross stitches. I think they are done by machine but I don't care. I just love it! I plan to make something with this but I just don't know what yet.
I also found this beautiful new cream tea towel.
I do have a plan for this one.
So I think a very successful shop for only $12!
Ten dollars for the stool and $1 each for the other two.

A Find and Some Late Thank You's

A little while ago I found this gorgeous tablecloth in the window display of a local Op Shop. I just had to have it! As the cloth had only gone in the window that day,
I paid for it but had to wait for two weeks until they changed the window display.
It's a little hard to see in the photo but there are the tiniest and neatest stitches.
Last month I was the lucky winner of the Friday Night Sew-In which was hosted by Wendy of Sugarlane Quilts while Heidi is having a break.
Two very pretty fat quarters, DMC threads, pink polka dot scissors and cute canvas sewing tags.
 A close-up of the tags.
How gorgeous is this card! Thank you Wendy.
I also won a dvd of Peter Pan from
Anorina of Samelia's Mum. Thank you Anorina.
