Wool Swap

Our Friends Having Fun Swaps recently had a Wool Swap. It turned out Mel and I were making for each other. This was lucky as we were both running behind. At our NOTYQ quilt show, Mel confessed to me she was making my gift and was running late. I then confessed to Mel that I was making for her. We both burst out laughing and decided we would swap when we were ready. Well, that time finally came!
This is the beautiful wool stitching Mel made for me.
It was the lid of a box.
Inside there was some beautiful Tilda fabrics, a Libby Richardson pattern and some cute little heart buttons.
I'm going to use this box to store my Tilda fabric in.
Mel had already labelled it for me.

Thank you so much, Mel.
I just love my new Tilda box.

This is what I made for Mel. I decided to use a wooden frame for a Home Sweet Home picture.
I also added some little extras.

Thanks to Shez and Peg for organising this fun swap.
Mel and I may have been a bit late
but better late than never!

Friday Night Sew-In

I joined Wendy and the girls for last night's
I worked on my project for our FHFS wool swap.
Yes, I'm a week late but it is now nearly finished. Silly me thought it was due at the end of October. I thought I'd get our Quilt Show over with and then really get stuck into my project. When posts started popping up about parcels in the mail and being received, I went and checked the date.
It was due on the 10th October!
These just may be some scraps from my project!
At the quilt show, Mel and I were walking around the Trader's Hall and she said to me "I have a confession to make. I'm making for you and I won't be finished in time!". I said "I have a confession too. I'm making for you" and we both burst out laughing! Little did we know we were making for each other. At one point, we had both said to each other that we didn't think our partners would be too upset if we were late. We decided we'd have extra time and when we were both finished, we'd get together to exchange our gifts.
So the pressure was off!

Thanks to Wendy for hosting us all last night.

Sending get well wishes to my lovely friend Mel
who isn't feeling too well at the moment.
I hope you're feeling better soon. xxx

New Ruler Covers!

Our Friends Having Fun Swaps group has just had our third swap for the year. We had to make our partner a ruler cover.
My secret partner was none other than the lovely
Cheryll from Gone Stitchin'.

This is where I used to store my 16½, 12½ and 8 inch rulers.
But not anymore! No more bubble wrap for my rulers.
Chez has made me the most beautiful bag to hold all three!
 The front of the bag.
The main part of the bag is for my 16½ inch ruler.

The front pocket holds my 8 inch ruler.
The back pocket holds my 12½ inch one.
Chez also sent me some lovely extra goodies.
A tape measure/scissors set, DMC threads, cute little wooden buttons, a magnetic needle holder,
choccies and a pack of Thangles. I've never used those before so this should be fun.

Thank you Chez. You have certainly spoilt me.

And who was I making for?
It was the other lovely Sheryl of Enjoying Life.
Shez requested a holder for her 24 inch ruler. This cover actually holds her 12 inch ruler as well.
It's a bit hard to see but there is a pocket inside
for the shorter ruler.
I added some extra goodies for Shez as well.
I just had to put this photo in as the matching threads
look so pretty with the Tilda fabric!

Hexagon Swap

Our Friends Having Fun Swaps group have just had our first swap of the year. It was a Hexagon (or any EPP) swap.
My secret partner turned out to be
Kate from Show and Tell.
Kate made me this beautiful butterfly hoop
using 1/2 inch hexagons.
There was also this gorgeous mini hoop necklace.
Kate stitched my initial in the tiniest of stitches.
I also received some 1 1/2 inch hexagon papers
and some yummy jube. I love jubes!

Thank you Kate for my gorgeous gifts.
I will find a special place to hang my butterfly.

Thanks to Shez and Peg for organising this fun swap.

FHFS Hexagon Swap

It's time for our first Friends Having Fun Swaps swap of the year. This one was Hexagons (or any EPP). The person I was making for was Ondrea of "O" Sew Crafty.
I made this project folder using purple fabrics. I know that purple is one of Ondrea's favourite colours.
I even found some purple scissors to add into the folder. There was also some DMC threads, a FQ of purple
Civil War fabric and some needles.
Using three hexagons, I made a pocket for the scissors to sit in. The ribbon is to make sure they don't slip out.
You can never have too many pin cushions.
I made this like the one I finished recently
after being a twenty year old UFO!
Of course, I also added some chocolate.

Thanks to Shez and Peg for organising our
Friends Having Fun Swaps.

Now to wait patiently for my parcel to arrive!

I've Been Published!

In Homespun! Although not as a designer.
My bird cage wall hanging I made for Peg
for our FHFS Spotty Swap.
It's very exciting to see your work in a magazine.
And I'm in good company.
This is the issue that my lovely friend Jenny of Elefantz
has her gorgeous Sweet Tweet quilt in.

I've been having problems getting photos from the camera. The downloading worked Sunday and when I tried on Monday, nothing shows up! I ended up putting the memory card into the old camera and that seemed to work. Hopefully I can get it sorted out.
Such a nuisance!

Tomorrow I'll show you the gorgeous stitchery
I received in Jenny's Stitchery Club Swap.

My Final OPAM For 2014

I've got one final project to squeeze in for 2014.
Mitchell was giving a book to a friend for her birthday,
so I made her a personalised book mark.

December's total is 13 finishes.
 Two cushions.
 Table Topper.
 Little owls.
Mini quilt.
Snowman.
Decoration.
Apron and tea towel.
Nativity hanging.
Santa Sack.

I have a total of 80 projects finished for 2014. Down on last year's 94 but I've worked on bigger projects this year.

A special thank you to Peg and Kris
for keeping us inspired with OPAM.
Not quite finished but I've been working on my FQS Designer Mystery BOM. The centre is now together.
Just have to add the fours borders and
then it's off to be quilted.
I just want to send get well wishes
to my special friend Melody.
I hope you up and about soon.
You gave us all quite a scare!
Hugs, Christine xx
