OPAM for May

One finish for May. My "House Rules" stitchery by Leanne Knell.
Thanks to Kris for keeping us inspired.
Noel and Nelson arrived home from Papua New Guinea on Tuesday.
They had the most amazing time. Once we get the photos sorted, I'll do a post
about their adventure. Here they are at the end of the Kokoda Trail having
arrived in the Kokoda Village after eight days of trekking.

A Night On The Town!

Sunday night Noel and I headed into town for a belated dinner for my birthday. I've wanted to go on the
Colonial Tram Car Restarant for a long time. It is very popular and this was the first date we could get.
We travelled to St Kilda and back.
 Champagne time!
I may or may not have had a couple (or three)!
The meal was delicious. I had the beef. There was sirloin steak and beef cheek. I've never had beef cheek before
and it was so tender. I've seen it on the cooking shows. Maybe I'll give it a try cooking it myself one day.
Noel had the chicken which was very unusual as he would never normally choose chicken over beef. The sound of the broad beans was what got him.
We both had the vanilla bean panacotta with poached pear. I'd also never had pannacotta before and I loved it. We finished off the meal with coffee and Cointreau. Once again a first for me. I now have a new favourite drink!
Then we headed to the Melbourne Star Wheel.
We were lucky and had a pod to ourselves.
At the top of the wheel.
We timed it really well for still having a little light
to see the land marks but still able to see
all the lights on the buildings.
Heading back to the train station (yes, we even caught the train into town for something different), we walked through Harbor Town and saw this cute Smurf display.
I remember collecting Smurfs when I was very young.

Noel found a new friend!

We had such a wonderful night.
I can highly recommend the Tram Car Restaurant.

An Unexpected Award!

Yesterday, at the Yarrambat Junior Football Club Presentation Day, Noel was inducted as a
Life Member of the Club.
This is when his name was announced.
It was totally unexpected but well deserved.
Noel was very emotional when he received his award.
Lucky his fellow Life Members and great friends, Anthony and Shelley, were on stage to support him.

Congratulations Noel.
We are all so proud of you.
Love Christine, Mitchell, Austin and Nelson.

Noel's Skydiving Adventure!

After being postponed for a couple of weeks, yesterday Noel got to do his tandem jump. There was
a delay due to the fog but once it lifted,
it was a perfect day to jump
out of a perfectly good plane!
 Getting harnessed.
 Practicing for landing.
 Prejump interview.
 Time to go!
That's Ritchie, his new best mate.

 Next!
 Looking a bit worried here.

 Thumbs up!
 Coming in for the landing.
 We even got a wave.

 Touch down!

 WooHoo!
 The Support Team.
See, I do wear something other than dresses!

So there you have it.
Noel finally got his 60th birthday present.

Happy Birthday Noel!

It's Noel's 60th birthday today and last night
we had a little celebration with family.
Everyone put in and he was given a voucher.
Why this surprised look? The voucher had a photo.
He said that one of the people looked like him.
This is when he realised that it was his face!
This is the photo.
Yes, we're sending him on a tandem jump!
I wonder if he'll have that smile when he does actually jump!

Happy birthday Noel/Dad
Lots of Love
Christine, Mitchell, Austin, Nelson and Molly

A Wedding And A Finish!

Yesterday we attended the wedding of our nephew Glenn to the lovely Seana at Portsea. The wedding was held on the lawn at the Portsea Pub overlooking the water.
I love this photo of the three boys.
Mitchell was one of the groomsmen.
 Waiting patiently for Seana.

Having some fun with the Bridesmaids' bouquets.
The pier was a great setting for photos.
We've already seen some of the official photos
and they are fantastic.
The reception was held on the deck upstairs.
Behind the bridal party is open.
Taking in the view.
I did a little stitchery as a momento of the day for them.

For something different, I covered a canvas.

Congratulations to the new Mr and Mrs McDowell.
