A Perfectly Pleasing Pin Cushion Parade!

The Perfectly Pleasing Pin Cushion Parade is on again.
It is hosted by the lovely Ida over at
I enjoyed taking part last year and decided to join in again.
These are all of the my pin cushions. I think there
maybe one or two others hiding somewhere. Some you would have seen in last year's parade. They were either made by me or made for me by friends.
My Sewing Bird is the newest addition to my collection.
I also thought I would share my special little sewing set my auntie found for me many years ago in an op (thrift) shop. They are so tiny. You can see the size of the pin cushion
in the top photo compared to the others.

Can you see the little crown of beads on the cushion?
A scissor keep, tape measure holder and the cutest little thimble holder complete the set. I wonder who it was that made this beautiful set. The crochet stitches are so tiny and neat, not the mention the beading. Hopefully they would be happy to know it now lives with someone who loves it.

I hope you have enjoyed my little parade. Head over here
to see all the other wonderful pin cushions.
In fact, it would be great if you joined in too.

Naughty Or Nice!

Back in November 2014, I joined Sharon at
Vrooman's Quilts for Let's Book It.
You can read my post here.

I started this cute little wall hanging.
Well, I am ashamed to say it but it is only now finished!
As you can see, I am keeping this for us.

Pin Cushions!

I thought I'd join the Perfectly Pleasing Pin Cushion Parade being hosted by My Sister Made Me Do It.
This is one of the first pin cushions I made.
I think it must be about 20 years old now.
I finally finished the green one which had been a ufo
for nearly the same amount of time!
I was on a roll with these ones which I gave away as gifts.
I've made several of these over the years as gifts.
A pin cushion with it's own thread catcher.
This is my favourite one I have made.
The other side.
Over the years I received lots of lovely pin cushions
from friends. This is just a small selection.
 A couple of my favourites.
The little rabbit one is from my lovely friend, Melody.
My turtle is from Maria and Sandra when they
came to visit earlier this year.
But this little turtle will never have a pin stuck into him!

I've made and received many pin cushions over the years. I hope you've enjoyed seeing this small collection. Head over here to see all the other lovely pin cushions on parade.

Friday Night Sew-In

Thanks to Wendy for hosting us for last night's Friday Night Sew-In.
I worked on the stitchery I chose at the Patchwork Tea House Stitching Day I went to a couple of weeks ago.
I'm also linking up with Sue at Super Mom - No Cape.

My 12" Mini Christmas Quilt

This is the lovely mini I received from Kim.
 Look at all that stitching!
Jo got the mini that I made.
This is the Snow-Pear Man from Jenny's Stitchery Club.
I had this lovely Christmas fabric and decided to make a blue Christmas mini for something a bit different.

What's For Dinner?

with Cath over at Cath@Home.

I picked up this free seafood cookbook at Woolworths
and the Rustic Seafood Patties caught my eye.
They were quick to put together.
The longest part was chopping up the marinara mix.
They were delicious and I'll definitely be making them again.

Rustic Seafood Patties

500g marinara mix, coarsely chopped
1½ cups panko breadcrumbs
2 tbs Birch & Waite Whole Egg Mayonnaise,
plus extra to serve
2 spring onions
2 tbs chopped fresh parsley
1 tbs capers, rinsed, chopped
1 lemon, rind finely grated, cut into wedges
1 egg, lightly beaten
Vegetable oil to shallow fry
Green salad to serve

Combine marinara mix, breadcrumbs, mayonnaise, spring onion, parsley, capers, lemon rind and egg in a bowl.

Shape into small patties. Place on a baking tray lined
with baking paper. Chill for 30 minutes.

Heat oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Cook patties, in batches, for 4-5 minutes each side until golden.

Serve with green salad, extra mayonnaise
and lemon wedges.

Notes from the cook
  • I didn't have any spring onions, so I just chopped up some red onion.
  • I just used the mayonnaise I had in the fridge.
  • I also left the capers out.

Pop over and say hello to Cath. This week she has a
Baked Chorizo Risotto recipe she is sharing.

What's For Dinner?

I'm joining Cath over at Cath@Home for her
Cath shares some delicious recipes and tips.

Today I'm sharing my Tuna Slice recipe. This is a recipe my Mum would make when we were still at home. It is quick and easy and can be prepared early in the day and just popped in the oven when you're ready. It's lovely the next day too.

Christine's Tuna Slice
 425g tin tuna, drained
1 onion, chopped
3 eggs, lightly beaten
125g savoury biscuits, crushed
(water crackers, savoury shapes, any leftover crackers)
1 cup milk
125g grated tasty cheese
Curry powder to taste
Extra grated cheese for top

Combine all ingredients and place into greased dish
(I use a pyrex rectangle baking dish).
Sprinkle extra grated cheese on top.

Bake in moderate oven 30 minutes or until golden brown.
Allow to stand 10 minutes before serving.

Can be served either hot or cold.
Great for picnics.

I served ours up with herby potato wedges,
peas, corn and carrots. It's also lovely with salad.

Head over here to Cath's to see what other
yummy recipes have been linked up.
