Party Decoration using the Silhouette Cameo

Hello friends,

Ive been busy this week preparing birthday party invitations and decorations based on the theme Pirates for a preschooler. A special request from the birthday boy was to include anchors, ship steering wheels and maps wherever possible. The main pieces of this project have only been possible thanks to the Silhouette Cameo machine. I know one can patiently cut shapes with a Clicut Retractable knife, but when the task at hand calls for precision and quick turnaround, the Cameo is definitely the better option.

A quick run down on how I made the banners. The base of each pennant is a piece of white cardstock, edged with washi tape. On it is a piece of torn parchment paper which has been stamped randomly with several shades of Ranger Distress Inks and a map stamp.  The alphabets have been popped up with foam tape and the rest of the shapes stuck with clear glue dots. The font, Pieces of Eight was used in the title of the Disney movie 'Pirates of the Caribbean' and can be downloaded here. All the alphabets and shapes have been cut out from either Core-dinations card stock or American crafts cardstock. The centre piece as well, has all the layers popped on foam tape to give it some depth and looks identical on both sides so that it can be hung from a tree branch.

Thank you for visiting us today.

3D Cupcake Holder using Silhouette Cameo

Hello friends,

Happy Monday to you all. I hope you found some crafting time this weekend to join us in

Lulupu Challenge #45

3D with Dies (or a die cutting machine)
Click here for all the details and rules

Tanvi Shah presented us with a beautiful shadow box + tutorial last week. If you haven't already started making your submission, I hope my project inspires you to try.

This project is another first attempt for me - traditional scrapbooking technique - paper piecing and layering. No inks, or stamps just paper and glue. Also, my first big project using the Silhouette Cameo. Here is a close up, any guesses?

Its a carousel which also doubles up as a cupcake holder. All papers have been cut using the Silhouette cameo -  plain, textured, glitter and pearl cardstock . Its definitely a dream machine, I could never have created this project without this die cutting machine. The cut file for the carousel is from www.svgcuts.com

There is place for 8 cupcakes and the horses are meant to be cupcake toppers. If you look closely, you can see that the horses have been temporarily fixed to the cupcake wrappers using washi tape. They can easily be removed later and inserted into the cupcake.
The top of the carousel can also be removed, there is enough place for a card and a light weight gift.

The biggest challenge I faced was what glue to use. After some trial and error, I used a combination of dry and wet glues. Just curious - what glue and brand do you use for projects like this?

I hope this post made your Monday a little more inspired
So, dust those dies or cutting machines, take a leap of faith like I did and share your creation here with us.

Baby Boy Mini Album

Hello crafting friends!!

This Ruthie and today I bring a Mini Album for a baby boy!! I used to think that doing a MA would be hard and would take time; but no; it's really easy to do them.

First I made the base of the MA with white solid cardstock. I used my Silhouette Cameo; and the file album for a baby.

Then I used DWCV patter paper to cover the base cardstock. Added the ultrasound images and added stickers with baby motives to embellish the album.

It's easy to combine papers when you use the same collection of papers. Or go ahead and mix and match from your collection!

Since this is a MA for a baby boy I chose boy pattern paper. Aren't these cute?

I tried to not put a lot of embellishments to keep the attention on the ultrasound images.

The MA is a great idea to keep all the pictures together on one event.

This is the back side of the MA; I left it without embellishments because this part would be facing down. I used the crop-a-dile to make the holes, to put the eyelets and added twine

Hope you like Mini Album. This is for my step-daughter who is having a baby boy.

Don't forget to participate on our challenge this month Weather or not . We cannot wait to see you projects! See you next time!!

Tutorial: Flying Butterfly with the Silhouete Cameo Digital Die Cutting Machine

Hello everyone:

I'm exited about today's post!! You will be wondering why.......well, today's post is about the beautiful machine called Silhouette Cameo, and why I'm so exited? because this beauty can do pretty much everything, and I suggest that if you don't have it, do everything to own it!!!

The Silhouette CAMEO® is an electronic cutting tool. Like a home printer, it plugs
into your PC or MAC® with a simple USB cable. However, instead of printing, the CAMEO uses a
small blade to cut your designs into a wide array of materials. Silhouette.com

What can you make? Scrapbook pages, cards, custom apparel, vinyl decor, etched glass, sketch designs, temporary tattoos, paper crafts. Silhouette.com

What can you cut? Paper and cardstock, adhesive vinyl, fabric, heat transfer material, rhinestone templates, speciality media. Silhouette.com

Now entering into the project that I made for your inspiration, I did a quick video tutorial to show you how to make a card with butterflies flying! Yes, you can have that effect.

Here is the card:

And a Quick video on How to:

I used the a2 lori whitlock bracket easel card and the butterflies set, you can find the at the Silhouette store. Also, I used Kraft paper for the base of the card, pattern paper that I distressed at the edges with distress ink tea dye. The sentiment is from Lawn Fawn.

I like the Shabby Chick look and I think that it goes perfect with butterflies!Hope you like it!!! Don't forget to participate in the current Lulupu Challenge #14 Color Crush!!
