Fun projects with Foil and a pictorial

Hello everyone,
Riswana here with you today. There is a new challenge running over on our blog this month - "Bling a ding with a stamping twist". Check out the details Here. I have some inspiration projects lined up for you using a wonderful product, iCraft therm-o-web DECO FOIL. Foiling is so much fun. There are many ways to add foil to your projects. Though a laminating machine works best, you can still pull up foiling with deco foil glue.!

This is gonna be a lengthyyy and picture heavy post, so gear up folks ;)

Card 1:

Here's a simple card.. I stamped the big bold sentiment from Mudra's Purely Sentiments - Brushed stampset and applied deco foil glue over it. (This glue dries very slowly. you need to give it a few seconds for it to become tacky,) Then I applied the foil over it, pressed really well and peeled off gently.
Repeated the same with the image from Fancy Flourishes Stampset.

It's better to stamp with ink color similar to the foil so that minor glitches are not obvious.! Also big and bold images are the best to begin with.. Am sorry for the not so good photograph.. I tried to capture the gorgeous shimmer as much as possible... But i still feel it's better in real life,,

Card 2:

Here I've used finer strokes with the glue pen and the result was awesome.. Sentiment is formed using individual alphabets from Mudra's Brushed alphas stampset.

Card 3:

You can create backgrounds with foil. I went for a simple polka dot pattern here. This card is made with the gorgeous new release from Papericious - Incredible India.. The designs are stunning and so Desi.!

Mixed media tag:

This tag is almost one layered.! Yet it has lots of textures and depth by layering with stamps.. I am sharing a step-by-step pictorial of how I made this tag:
Spritz some water on a Manila tag from Ranger. Add some peeled paint Distress paint to craft sheet, spritz some water and swipe the tag over it, wet on wet. Repeat the process until desired look is obtained.

Add spray mists through a stencil randomly to achieve some texture..

Start adding layers with stamps. Alternate between permanent and water soluble inks and also do generation stamping to add more interest.

Add more colors and textures with stamps

Add white splatters with diluted white acrylic paint..
Swipe a glue stick randomly along the edges and apply foil over it.

Add more foil, colors and stamped textures. I heat embossed the lamp post from Bo Bunny stampset with Ranger super fine Black EP.

Add punched out leaves & ticket for embellishing. Add the same colors used on the tag to a lace & thread it through the hole. Finally add some highlights with a white gel pen and add a grungy border around with white gesso and a palette knife.

Hope you liked my projects and found the tutorial helpful. There is an awesome lot of new stamps stocked at the Lulupu store right now and of course a wide range of colors in thermoweb Deco foil.!! Grab yours soon and get started with this beautiful technique.!!

Don't forget to link your creations based on this month's theme here.

Love-ly gathered heart card

Hello everyone !
Its me Pooja , back with a card i made for the
Have u checked it out yet ?
This challenge we are making any project based on the theme LOVE
with an added twist of using pattern papers in your creation.
Here is what i made.
This card was really fun to make and not something i usually do.
Since valentines day is around the corner i thought i would use some related PP.
The main focus of the card is this gathered heart . Which is also made with some Scrap piece of PP i had with me. There was an odd comfort in not doing a card with an image stamped and colored in a card which i always do :) This project was all about experiments for me.
The heart in the center is handcut and distressed with lots of glitter on the gathers !
Since this was an experiment i really dont have a tutorial for you at the moment on how i did the heart.
I initially wanted to do some methodical folds (which i saw in so many PINS on pintrest)
but i ended up making gathers .Nonetheless i really love the way my card looks.
I decided to go with some bold papers from the Crate paper- 14 paper pad
Love the papers they have ! all very fit for the Valentines day theme.
I wanted to go easy on the blooms this time :) so i went only with this one .
Hope u like it.
There is a die cut lace on the hem and my sentiment which i find very apt for the theme.
Hope you are all ready and geared up to play this
LOVE-LY challenge with us !
Do join the fun.
 Hugs

Word Play Note Cards!!

Hello Crafters!!

It's been a while since I posted here, but I haven't been slacking off. I have been giving my hand some rest. But, I couldn't resist playing along with the Word Play Challenge and I was super excited about it since the time I suggested this theme. So there was no way I wanted to miss this! :) Also, as we have to make CAS cards for this challenge, it only made things easier for me..

And as usual, I got carried away and made FIVE cute little note cards. ;)

When I think of Word Play, I think of Lawn Fawn Stamps. Every Stamp Set has co-ordinating sentiments and images and for this challenge, I used the Love 'n Breakfast Set (I got three cards out of this set), Vintage Rides by The Craft's Meow as well because it had some really cool stamps and another card from the Raccoon2Love Stamp Set by The Stamps of Life.

I won't be typing much because right now, it's a little difficult.. So I'll just show you the cards. As usual, the list of products used for these cards is at the end of the post! :)

Hello!!!

This is Varshitha here.. Hope you all had a great weekend.. Mine was fantastic! I am super excited about the current Lulupu Challenge - #17, Load it Up!!! I love to load up my cards with lots of layers and flowers and still make them CAS cards too.. :P

When coming to floral projects I love handmade flowers and my love for handmade flowers was by seeing Rajni ji's and Erum's work. I am always stunned seeing their work. :) Seeing this inspiring world of crafting I decided to make these awesome Gardenis.I am so very excited to show them here... Being a lazy crafter its one of the easy way to make flowers, instead of pinching and molding each petal, these beauties can be done very easily.. Yes I'm showing you a small tutorial on how to make these Gardenias...

Now about my card ..... I have made a typical floral card. A Floral card is what I always prefer for loved ones, making my own flowers and gifting it as a card gives soo much happiness to me.

Here it is..

Lulupu Challenge #15 - Weather or not..

Hola crafters..

Nikita here and I am going to reveal a brand new challenge. On second thoughts, the post title does much of the revealing even before I begin typing (rather, you begin reading.) We have got to do something about that :P

Anyhoo, this month we want you to create magic on your projects. Notice how we said projects and not cards?? That means you can create anything you want!!!! As long as....

Challenge #15 - Qualification Guidelines
{General Guidelines here}

1. Create a card, layout, altered project, tag, 3D project... absolutely anything, that depicts the weather
It may be the weather you are currently experiencing or you could choose to show Summer, Spring, Winter, Autumn, or the Rains, on your project. You could also create a view of some place like the beach or the mountainside with a sparkling river and boats on them or a clear starry summer sky. {Enough ideas from me. I need to shut up!)

2. However, the project must show a scene and not just one element of the weather
For example, one snowflake on your project, will not equal a winter scene. Similarly, one umbrella, will not equal a rainy scene. Paint a picture for us (so to speak).. think of your project as a canvas and go crazy.

3. (This one is the most important one) If in doubt, check with us!! :P
It breaks our heart to see beautiful projects that don't fit the challenge theme. So if you are confused about this, leave us a comment here or write to us at hello@lulupu.com with your questions before you start work and one of us will get in touch with you to help you out. Simple! :)

And guess what the winner is going to be able to lay their hands on???
THIS!!!
Rather, THESE!!! {Silently drools... :P}
If I could have played along, for this, I really would.

March 2013 Challenge  (Till March 31st)
Birthday Bash (Till March 31st)

- And lastly Photo Contest on our Facebook Page (Till March 30th)

Go ahead and don't miss a single chance to grab the goodies ..

Now coming over to my post. Who says you always need dies or punches to make gorgeous flowers ? So here you have my take on making flowers without them. Have a look at how they turned out. :)

What do you think??

So today I will be be doing a pictorial for you that will feature how to make these lovely flowers without using any dies /punches . Lets get started -

Basic Supplies required:
1. Card stock (any)
2. Glue
3. Scissors
4. Water & Sprayer for misting
5. Inks (preferably Distress Inks)

STEP - 1

Take few pieces of cardstock of your choice (any colour.)

STEP - 2
As shown above cut them into circles, remember to cut them in little wavy shapes on the edges. You don't need a perfectly round shape.

STEP - 3
Now make some small V- shape cuts on the edges as shown above. Remember the more imperfect they are, the better it is.

STEP - 4
Now distress the edges and center with any color of your choice and Spritz some water over it.

STEP - 5
Now bring the petals up from the center and give them a good scrunching!!
Spritzing water is optional at this step since I did not spritz water on the opposite side in the previous step.

STEP - 6
Open them up and allow them to dry. If you have a heat tool go head save your time and if you don't have a heat tool put your head phones on and listen to your favorite songs till nature does its thing ... :P

STEP - 7
Put them all together with a dab of glue in the centers starting with the largest circle at the bottom and layering smaller ones over it till you're done with the smallest piece and your flowers are ready.
Ooops I forgot to mention, for the center you can use pretty gems, stones, pearls or pollen of your choice.

Voila! The flowers are ready!!!!  And its time to use these super gorgeous blooms on my card

For this card I have used the pink flower. I have further distressed the edges with Picked raspberry distress ink. Coming over to the card, I have used the gorgeous pattern paper from  Prima zypher collection, doilies which I soaked in picked raspberry distress ink and added pearls and Pink Fabric Lace. Sentiment is from Hero arts .

And for the second card I have distressed the back ground and soaked doilies using Peeled paint and Mustard seed distress inks and have used brown fabric lace. Sentiment is from Hero arts. For the flowers I have used pollen in the center .

Hope you had fun making these flowers with me!!

And Happy Holi from the Lulupu Team to everyone in advance! Have a colourful, fun filled Holi and be safe.. :)

Love,
Isha
