Easel Card with Butterfly Backdrop

Hello dear readers,

Welcome to another new month of creativity, inspiration, challenges and super cool goodies to win from Lulupu.

This months challenge is based on "Femininity", we have a lovely bright color palette to choose from and many chances to link your creations, For more details, check out the below link:

This week, I have a easel card to share with you all. The interesting part in this card is the butterfly backdrop which I have created with several punched out Monarch Butterflies which have been pre-distressed with the theme color (Salty oceanMustard Seed and Picked raspberry). To use the butterflies as the base I have adhered them with a layer of Mod podge, which helps in giving a very clean finish! I hope you like my very pink and feminine card and find inspiration to try something from your very own stash.

Here is a close up of how the punched butterflies look :) Prettiness!

Well, That is from my side! Do leave some love :)

Thanks for dropping by!

Love,
Dolly

A Card with Punch flower tutorial and Some News !

Hello People,
Karuna here,
First quarter of the year is already over...time really flies! Look at us its our 30th challenge :)

We have some updates.
Our dear DT Pooja is bidding us Goodby and we are surely gonna miss her.
And we have some Hellos too. Please welcome our new very talented Design Team member Deepti Stephens!
Most of you know her through her blog Catchy Designs Collections and her challenge blog
Let's get to know her a bit more what say?
 Over to Deepti.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hello dear friends! My name is Deepti Stephens and I'm from Andhra Pradesh. I have done my BDS but I'm not a dentist by profession. :) I'm a very simple girl helping my hubby with his work. We have a society and a Bible Literature shop. I spend most of time in church and in it's activities. I love to make simple, fun, cheerful and happy cards. Love to draw my own images and I love stamping and coloring a lot. Thank you so much Karuna for giving me this lovely opportunity. Hope I can inspire you all. Thank you so much for all the love and support.. :)

Alright! the challenge here at Lulupu is to make 'Feminine Cards'. Please find the general guidelines here and qualification guidelines here. Please read and follow the rules carefully to get your entry qualified.. :)

Well.. Today I'm here with a fancy fold card. And I'm sharing a small tutorial too..

To make this card I hand drew a window and cut it with a paper knife. You can see the green background behind the window, that's done using Martha Stewart embossed border punch. I used vellum to make the flowers.. I stuck the tulips behind the window so that the tulips look real and they are popping out!!  :)

This is how the card looks when it's opened. Used the same border punch to create the grass. :)
I also used Bo bunny stickers and Technique Tuesday stampset.

Here is the inside of the card! Ok! now let's move on to the tutorial on 'how to make tulips using a heart punch'.. :)

Step 1

Punch out two hearts. For one flower you'll need two hearts..

Step 2

Cut into two pieces using scissors, it should look just like a broken heart.. ;) :p

Step 3

Sponge the edges using your favourite color.. I used Spun Sugar distress ink..

Step 4

Adhere all the pieces together. That's it the tulip is ready now.. The leaves were hand drawn.. ;)

Hope you enjoyed this tiny tutorial. Kindly play along our

and have fun.. ;)

Christmas in August!

Hello all you beautiful peeps!

I trust everyone had an awesome weekend and had loads of crafting going on! (p.s. I did loads of crafty shopping with all the yummy new arrivals at Lulupu!)

Our challenge this month is Weather or not and I thought why not a snowy winter! And ofcourse snow means snowmen and snowflakes.. :)

Unfortunately we don't have that many places in India where it snows regularly, and the only time I've experienced it was in Switzerland!! Have to say it was simply breathtaking and every lil snowflake that fell was exactly like all the punches and snowflake dies we see!

How to: make a Napkin Fold Card!

Have you entered your project for this month's challenge here at Lulupu yet?
I am having a blast with the theme - "Love is in the air" this month. There are just so many ideas out there and I want to try them all :D But since I had to pick one for this post, I zeroed in on a special fold card.

I don't know about you but I love special fold cards, they are just so much fun to make and gift :)

Here's my napkin-fold card for you (all supplies are linked at the bottom of this post)

I {Heart} Studio Calico Wood Veener shapes.
I used Wood Veener Birds on this card, but there are so many other shapes available at the Lulupu store. My favorites are these butterflies and these super cute tiny people :)

Cool, ain't it? And even though it looks complicated, it is pretty simple to make.
Follow the tutorial below to make your own :)

Napkin Fold Card Tutorial

Start with a 12X12 sheet of pattern paper.

Score at 3" and 9" from left

Turn the paper and score again at 3" and 9" from left.

Now mark at 6" on all sides and score diagonally in diamond shape from each of the 6" mark
And then score diagonally at each of the 3" mark on all sides.

Here is a little scoring guide of how to go about it.

and this is how it will look

Once you have scored and folded, open the paper back to 12X12 and decorate all the sides with your favorite edge punch, It is not a mandatory step but it adds a lot to the whole view of the card.

Then all you need is some pretty pattern paper to decorate it. I am using the MME - Bright Side 6X6 paper pad {Love it :)}

You could also ink up the edges of all the pieces of pattern paper with walnut distress ink for symmetry and  to add that vintage-y touch.

At the end, I just made a little band to keep the card together.

Note :I started with a 12X12 sheet of pattern paper, but you can actually make this with any square (6X6, 8X8), you will just have to do a little math to figure out the scoring part :)

I hope you try out this fun fold and enjoying making a card for your loved one in this season of love.

Edited: Entering this for the "Fancy folds with love theme" challenge at For the love of crafting challenge#11

Lovey Dovey Gatefold Card

With a new year, we have two new members joining our Design Team. You lovely people have already met Isha Tripathi and it's now time to introduce you to our other new Lulu Pooh...

Indira Tanwar

We are sure many of you already know her but still, allow us to tell you more about her. :)

Indira is an MBA in International Business & Marketing and works with an IT MNC. She is passionate about crafts and loves to "Create" something in her free time. Indira has been crafting since childhood and her inspiration has been her mother, who is a very good painter herself.

Indira enjoys creating beautiful cards and embellish them with Quilling and Punch Craft. She loves making different types of flowers for her projects. She likes to try out different kind of crafts and techniques. She is also very fond of collecting boxes of various shapes and tends to use a lot of waste material in her work and recycles/upcycle them.

She feels her style has evolved over time and she learns a lot from fellow crafters. Her favorite technique is Quilling and Punch craft.

You can check out all of her wonderful creations at her blog 'Arty Sorts.' So head on over there and see her gorgeous creations.

Enough introductions!! Let us hear from the lady herself!! :)

Hi everyone!! This Indira here and is my first post as DT member of Lulupu.

It's a gatefold card that I have made on valentine theme. I have used MS Lace punch for the gatefold and weaved ribbon through it.

Once the ribbon is untied, this is how the inside of the card looks like. I have layered three hearts made from Tigerlily paper pad from Kaiser Craft. I hand-stitched the the middle of the hearts to secure them together.

The layered heart is a mini card that opens upwards. The message can be written on the inside.

Hope you like the card. Do join us for the "Love is in the air" Challenge and stand a chance to win a stamp set from Kaisercraft.

Cheers!
Indira.. :)
