Whew....that just about wore me out!

Now it's confirmed,
I am an old dog....

and you would be justified in assuming that means
I cannot be taught new tricks....

I tried though
really I did.

But I simply struggled...
and that is not what blogging is all about for me.

OK,
here it is...
I tried the newer interface of Blogger.

There
I said it...
I found it to be clunky.

Now, in reality,
I am the one who is clunky,
stubborn,
set in my ways,
awkward,
embarrassed by my inability to conform....

So, I am back to the old interface
(don't ask me how long it took me to find my way,
let's just say I should have dropped bread crumbs on the way in....)

I have had better luck with my new iPhone....
Whew!
Glad that I could say that at least....

here is a bit of the other things I have been doing....

Enjoying my anniversary flowers...

BIG blooms...

drinking copious amounts of coffee....

photographing things
I am amazed at the clarity of images from a phone!
I have three different apps for imaging
the camera that came with the phone...
Camera+ (which my son found for me)
and Instagram, which I read about online,
and actually found on my own!
Camera+ actually produces the best image, but I have yet to
learn all the features.
Instagram is easy, and friendly too.
I like it.
I use it the most.

this is my office.
a mess....but in a good way.

The trunk is drying, I put new wallpaper in it just hours ago,
and am waiting for it to cure.
I plan to store some of that pile of fabric and
felted wool in it by the end of the day.
(the border on that image is one of the many reasons I like Instagram.

How about you?
Do you find newer technology (interfaces, apps.....etc...)
a challenge?

Please share your experiences with me.
If you have found that the newer interface is worth the effort,
please tell me that too.
I am willing to try it again if the incentive seems worth the journey.

Regrets......I've had a few....

But so few I'd like to mention....

Well,
today, at the traffic light,
I had one of those moments that I
regret.

I was caught without my camera,
any camera....
not just my "pro-rig" Canon,
not just my small "in-my-purse" Nikon,
Not even my phone's camera....

I was camera naked.
And at one of those moments that you really require
Full-gear....and time.

The license plate said it all,
"1969-RR".
It was a smooth silver grey Rolls Royce,
driven by the most elegant
woman.

She was, I'd say. in her 70's,
beautifully quaffed blonde/silver hair
that seemed to match the palate of her
interior leather.

She wore Jackie-O sunglasses.
She had on delicate cream leather gloves.
She was wearing a B/W hounds tooth braided jacket.
She was the picture of elegance.
Not 10 feet away from me.......
no camera....
I wasn't even driving and frantically looked around the car
to see of there might be a camera, that didn't belong to me.

no camera.
Why do I do this to myself?
Why haven't I learned from the many experiences
like this?

Regrets....I have a few.....

31 October 2009

As seen on TV....

I wrote about my camera obsession
this morning on my other blog...
and well...
even though I am not
hugely excited about shedding some of
my collection.
The space is needed...
and so it goes..
You can find them
Collections are funny...
it is so easy to spill over
from collection to
obsession...
and past that to
just plain ol' crazy...

I am lost in a maze of photo files....

But,...it's fun...
I love re-living the experience of our trip to
If you have the opportunity to go...
do it.
The gardens are made up of 4 former rice plantations,
bought and saved by a couple in the early part of the twentieth century.

The wrought iron is everywhere....

The lush gardens have been manicured in a most natural way...

Some areas of the gardens are more formal..and arranged...

Others are quite wild....
The day that we visited for the first time,
was overcast, grey, and a bit cool...
The weather made photography interesting...
One might think it would leave things flat..
it could have...
but a little manipulation..and
wah-lah!
an image that I really love....
I love that!
When I first cradled a camera,
many years ago...
the technology was such that your manipulation
took place at the time of focusing.
Now I can think about what I want to do with my image
while it is uploading to my computer...
Over the weekend
I am taking the time for myself...
so that I can smell the swamp water...
hear those cranes, egrets and
eagles...
feel the splatter of the water from the fountains...
Ah...
fall in the south...
