The Sound Boxes
A blue wooden box containing 6 cylinders; each cylinder makes a different sound, varying from loud to soft. A red box containing 6 cylinders which match the sounds in the blue box. The cylinders are grasped in the hand and shook twice to hear a clear sound. Each exercise is done on a table.
Exercise:
- Familiarise the child with handling the material
- Match the 2 most contrasting pairs using the auditory sense
- When child is ready, match all pairs
- Grading the sounds: select one box and grade the sounds from loudest to softest or vice versa
