Pues aquí estoy, con otra prenda que llevo ya poniéndome un año entero y que me encanta, la blusa blusa Airelle de Deer and Doe. Me vino recomendada por mi amiga Clare, que lleva cosiendo toda una vida y sabe de lo que se habla.

Me falta el halo

Ha sido el primer patrón de esta marca y me ha encantado. De hecho ya lo he cosido otra vez, reciclando una camisa masculina. Y el siguiente va a ser el Bleuet, que al ver el post de Sonia se me ha caído la mandíbula, así como en los dibujos. Y acabo de ver que ha terminado su segunda version, que MOLA MUCHO.

Descripción del patrón:
Blusa con mangas 3/4, cuello tipo Chelsea y canesú fruncido. Las pinzas en la cintura definen el talle.

Europea 34-46. Yo he cosido la 36 (38 española) aunque podría haber subido una, me está un pelín estrecha.

Una vez que terminaste de coserlo, ¿se parecía a la foto/dibujo del sobre?
Pues sí, para qué vas a cambiar algo que funciona.

¿Fueron las instrucciones fáciles?
Ni idea, ni las he mirado

¿Qué te gusta/no te gusta específicamente?
Me gusta: que no hay botones ni cremalleras (¡yo soy de piñón fijo!). Ya en serio, que de cortar la tela a terminarlo se lleva un par de horas. Guay.
No me gusta: Las mangas se me quedan a una altura que no me gusta, justo por debajo del codo, que manera que cuando doblo el brazo, tira. Y el puño de la manga es un poquitín estrecho, esto ya lo he cambiado en la siguiente versión.

¿Qué tela has usado?
Una viscosa (creo) de rayas que encontré una vez en el mercado. Si la veo de nuevo, me compraré unos cuantos metros más, para hacerme el vestido de Altuzarra del post anterior.

¿Has cambiado algo del patrón?
Noren. Incluso he terminado el cuello con las vistas tal como indica el patrón.

En las distancias cortas

¿Lo volverás a coser? ¿Lo recomiendas a otros?
Si y si. De hecho, ya lo he cosido, usando una camisa vieja de mi novio (¡cuello y puños en blanco porque no me llegaba la tela!).

Conclusión:
Pues una blusita chuli, con vaqueros, con pantalones y con una falda negra como esta del Burda 02-2011-103, la caña.

No me puedo creer que vaya yo por la vida con estos pliegues horizontales, me acabo de dar cuenta al ver las fotos! En fin.

So here I am, with another blouse that I finished almost a year ago, the Airelle blouse from Deer and Doe. It came recommended by my good friend Clare, she knows her stuff!

Where’s my halo

I loved to make it and now to wear it. It’s been my first pattern from the French company. In fact, I’ve sewn it again, recycling an old shirt from my boyfriend. And next from Deer & Doe should be the Bleuet dress, I saw this lovely version at Sonia’s blog, check out the cool photos of both dress and Spanish rural landscape (quixotic windmills!). And she just finished her second version, niiice.

Pattern Description:
Blouse with 3/4 length sleeves, Chelsea collar and a gathered yoke. Two waist darts cinch the waist nicely.

Pattern Sizing:
European 34-46. I made my usual 36 but could have gone one size up easily, it’s a tad small.

Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Yes it did. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.

Una mano en la cinturaaaaa

Were the instructions easy to follow?
No idea, didn’t follow them.

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
Like: no buttons, zippers or closings! Sorry, I’m sounding like a broken record at this point. But seriously, it takes a few hours from cutting to finish, ready in an afternoon. Nice.
Dislike: The cuffs are placed just below the elbow. So when I move the arm, it pulls a bit. Also, the cuff itself is a bit too tight, that has been changed in the other version.

Los puños de la discordia

Fabric Used:
Some stripped viscose-y fabric, very light, that I found at the market. If I ever see it again, I’ll buy a few meters extra to make the Altuzarra dress from the previous post.

Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
Nothing, I even used facings in this version (bias tape in the next).

Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
Yes and yes. I’ve sewn it already and won’t be the last one, my own TNT pattern.

Conclusion:
A very nice blouse, without being overtly girly, that goes with everything (jeans, pants or this Burda skirt 02-2011-103.

Todos estos patrones que estoy reseñando en estos días son los puntos álgidos del último año, no os creais que estoy cosiendo como las locas todos los días. Y ya pondré los fails, que ha habido unos cuantos épicos ...

El patrón de hoy es un top asimétrico Burda 04-2014-115, de uno de los mejores números del año pasado, y del que quiero hacer todísimo todo. Y no hay foto en esta sesión donde salga con un gesto raro, así que hoy salgo sin careto.

Mi doble, pero en rubia y alta

De la colección Icono de Estilo, título ambicioso donde los haya, he empezado con este top, y dos de los vestidos (próximamente en este espacio). Y el siguiente es el mono blanco, qué bonito quedaría en un crepe rojo oscuro ...

Ya tengo la tela comprada ...

Descripción del patrón:

Según Burda: Los cantos y dobladillos de esta extravagante blusa parecen trazados con regla. Según yo: Top asimétrico de forma cuadrada, con la parte delantera cruzada y mangas tres cuartos.

Europeas 34-42. Yo he cosido la 36 (38 española), lo normal en Burda.

Una vez que terminaste de coserlo, ¿se parecía a la foto/dibujo del sobre?
Si, y esa era la intención, que se pareciera lo máximo posible. El pantalón gris ya lo tenía yo en el armario, ese armario sin fondo mío.

¿Fueron las instrucciones fáciles?

Pues no me acuerdo, pero se termina de coser en una tarde. Es fácil, fácil de hacer.

¿Qué te gusta/no te gusta específicamente?
Me gusta: ese estilo nórdico minimalista, que parece sacado de la tienda COS. Que no lleve cierres (cremalleras, botones) de ningún tipo.

No me gusta: que los paneles me bailen al moverme (yo es que me muevo mucho), pero se podría remediar dándole una puntada aquí y allá. Y no sé yo como quedaría en alguien con delantera, igual se abre al respirar.

Poniendo las cosas en su sitio

¿Qué tela has usado?

Ni idea, un tipo de algodón para camisa tipo Oxford, creo.

¿Has cambiado algo del patrón?

Nope. Bueno, sí, he cortado la espalda con la tela doble en vez de hacer costura en el centro atrás. Y el bies que remata el cuello está cosido hacia afuera en vez de hacia adentro, no sé si me explico.

Poniendo las cosas en su sitio (again)

¿Lo volverás a coser? ¿Lo recomiendas a otros?

No sé si lo volveré a coser, el estilo es bastante único y con un top de este tipo ya es suficiente. Pero recomiendo el patrón, que es precisión alemana de vanguardia.

Conclusión:
Pues una blusita bien apañada para ese uniforme oficinil que es el pantalón oscuro y la camisa blanca.

Sips, así me paso el día

I’m reviewing nowadays patterns I’ve made a while ago, the highlights of last year. I’m sewing a lot again, but I’m not *that* productive. And there’s been some fails, too! One day I’ll write about those, and we can all laugh together. Oh, and today’s photos are without head, because I had a bad face day.

This pattern is an asymmetrical top, 04-2014-115, from one of the best issues ever of Burda ever, April 2014.

Just like me, but blonde and tall

From the Solo in White collection, a very proper title btw, I made this top maybe the day after buying the mag. I’ve made 2 dresses as well, and someday I’ll make this one in a dark red crepe, it’s so cool …

I’ve got the fabric already, bwaaah!

Pattern Description:
From the Burda website: This boxy top is so elegant with the wrapped silhouette and wide boatneck. Wear it with low rise bottoms to show off the slightly asymmetrical hem.

Pattern Sizing:
European 34-42. I made my usual 36.

Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Yes it did, it’s exactly as shown in Burda. I actually have grey cropped trousers from a million years ago, so yeah, white single female alert.

Were the instructions easy to follow?

I just glanced at them, and the top was finished in an afternoon. So yeah, this is an easy one.

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
Like: that Nordic minimalist style, looks like out of a COS lookbook. No closures (zipper, buttons) at all – yay!

Dislike: The front panels are actually open and they can shift when I move (and I do move – a lot). I do wonder how this will work with busty gals, I can see how the front panels will open just when breathing.

Fabric Used:

An Oxford shirt remnant I had in the stash forever.

Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:

Minimal: I cut the back on fold and the bias finish is on the outer side instead of the inside.

Straightening this top (again)

Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?

I won’t sew it again just yet, the style is quite distinctive. But I do recommend the pattern, just your usual German precision work.

Conclusion:

I love it, specially paired with solid cropped and/or high waisted trousers. It’s office wear at its finest.

Vogue V1332 - The Amazing Coat of Awesomeness

¡Dos años! ¡Dos años enteros sin escribir una palabra en el blog! ¿Hay alguien ahí que diga ay?

No os voy a aburrir con la historia de mi vida, o contaros que ese trabajo que empecé hace dos años me ha amargado la existencia bastante, ¡al menos tengo trabajo! Lloro (y mucho) pero con un ojo.

Así que retomo el blog por donde lo dejé, y empiezo con la reseña de un abrigo de los míos, de los que hacen historia. Se trata del Vogue V1332 de Pamella Roland. También conocido en mi casa como el abrigo tortuga, escarabajo, no saldrás a la calle con eso puesto, no, en serio, diosmíoquevergüenza. A lo que yo respondo #LOL! y #porsupuestísimo, así con hashtag y todo. Yo personalmente lo llamo el Impresionante Abrigo de Alucine (o algo por el estilo, en inglés suena mejor – Amazing Coat of Awesomeness)

ES-TAN-GUAY

Es el primer abrigo-abrigo que hago, el Minoru es al fin y al cabo una prenda de entretiempo. Paso directamen a la reseña:

Descripción del patrón:
Chaqueta forrada (y entreforrada) cortada en el ancho de la tela (crosswise). Tiene la solapa cortada al bies, pretina forrada con la misma tela, parte delantera y trasera cortada en una sola pieza formando pliegues delante y detrás, sin costuras laterales, bolsillos insertados, bajo curvado, cierre con presillas. El forro es visible en la parte de atrás.

Talla del patrón:
Americanas 6-22. Yo he cosido la 8 (38 española).

Una vez que terminaste de coserlo, ¿se parecía a la foto/dibujo del sobre?
Sips. En el patrón se recomienda coserlo con una tela de abrigo ligera como gabardina, jaquard o crepe, y el mío está hecho con una tela de invierno más gruesa, pero esencialmente es el mismo.

¿Fueron las instrucciones fáciles?
Si, en este caso las he seguido al pie de la letra, aunque tampoco era muy difícil (para ser abrigo, digo). Momento duda con los pliegues de atrás (son más profundos de lo que me esperaba). Y me ví todos los tutoriales sobre bolsillos insertados para al final hacerlos como decían las instrucciones. Guay.

Anda que no molan

¿Qué te gusta/no te gusta específicamente?
Me gusta: TODO, TODO, TODO (bueno, casi). Estilísticamente, porque es excéntrico e inicia conversaciones y piropos de desconocidos en plena calle. Costureramente, porque no hay técnicas de sastre como coser la entretela de las solapas a mano, ni ojales ribeteados. Pero sí he practicado los bolsillos insertados y lo he entreforrado (¿cómo se dice underlined?). Es decir, que he puesto una tela de algodón entre la tela principal y el forro, para que dé cuerpo.

Quizás debería haberlo planchado

No me gusta: Las mangas son ¾, para una chaqueta de fiesta como en la foto del patrón bien, pero para un abrigo de verdad, regulero. Y que la pieza de la vista principal sean más corta de lo que debería (un par de centímetros). Menos mal que me di cuenta a tiempo y pude modificarlo en la costura del centro atrás. Lo malo es que la costura ya no está lineada con el hilo, lo uno por lo otro.

La línea del mal

¿Qué tela has usado?
Una tela con aspecto de lana, pero sospecho que es 100% imitación. Por 5 euris no puede ser lana de verdad. El color ME ENCANTA y va perfecto con rojo, mi color favorito. Aparte, he usado forro guateado (ya se vende así) y entreforro de algodón (en realidad, una sábana vieja que guardé hace tiempo con este fín).

Rojo + Verde = LOVE

¿Has cambiado algo del patrón?
No, no he cambiado nada, incluso el forro está guateado tal como pide el patrón. Sólo le he añadido el entreforro, para que sea más apto para el invierno holandés.


¿Lo volverás a coser? ¿Lo recomiendas a otros?
No y quizás. No lo voy a volver a coser porque es muy, muy original y no necesito otro de este tipo. Lo recomiendo si te gusta el estilo, es super excéntrico y la diversión está garantizada. A mí me pone de buen humor sólo de verlo colgado en el armario.

Conclusión:
Un abrigo divertido, que da color a los días grises. Ha habido señoras muy señoreadas que me han parado por la calle para preguntarme de quién es (“mío” respondí yo, impagable). Y nunca me he sentido tan observada que cuando lo llevo, literalmente, niñas pequeñas con la boca abierta.

Que no me hayan sacado en Vogue ...

Two years! Two full years of blog silence! Is there anybody out there still paying attention? No? Good!

I'm not going to bore you with the story of my life, it's not relevant and not that interesting. I'll just say that my current job has sucked the joy out of me in the last 2 years and I'm so ready to move on (Got business proposals? Yes please!). Oh well, at least I have a job, I shouldn't complain, really.

So I'm picking up this blog just where I left it. I really, really want to publish this review because I'm so darn proud of this coat, the Pamella Roland Vogue pattern V1332. Also know as turtle or beetle coat, the you're not going to wear this outside, are you coat, and the really, really?? coat. To all my mockers I answer #LOL! and #damnrightIwill, hashtags and all. I personally refer to it as the Amazing Coat of Awesomeness. And it's actually my first proper coat (kind of), the Minoru was more of an autumn jacket.

Happy Happy, Joy Joy!

Pattern Description:
Underlined, lined jacket (cut crosswise) has bias collar, self-lined yokes, front and back cut-in-one forming front and back pleats, no side seams, welt pockets, shaped hemline, and snap closing. Lining shows on back hemline.

Pattern Sizing:
6-22. I made my usual 8.

Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Yes it did. The pattern is actually meant for a lighter fabric (Jacquard, Crepe Back Satin and Lightweight Gabardine) whereas mine is a fairly heavy weight. Other than that 100% the same.

Were the instructions easy to follow?
Yes, they're quite easy. I had a head stratch moment with the folds in the back, but nothing serious. I also saw all welt pockets tutorials on the web, before following the actual instructions from the pattern, this is a first.

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
Likes: EVERYTHING (almost). Stylistically, because it's excentric, it's a conversation starter and gets you heaps of unsolicitations. Re: sewing and construction, because while it's a full-on coat, there is almost no tailoring (no hand stitches at the collar, no bound buttonholes, etc). I have made welt pockets (a first!) and underlined the whole thing (basting main fabric to underlining *before* cutting K-King styles!).

Iron? Whatchu talkin bout?

Dislikes: Main facing and front/back pieces are not quite the same length. If you notice on time, it's easy to add lenght to the facing (just use the main pattern as a guide). If not, you could adjust the CB seam, but then the main fabric is not on grain anymore. Guess which one I did – yep CB seam adjustment.
The ¾ sleeves are cute in a party coat, but not really apt for real Dutch winters.

Off-grain back - sorry?

Fabric Used:
From afar looks wool, but at 5 EUR a meter at the market, it's definitively man-made. The colour is GORGEOUS, and looks best paired with bright red. The pattern asks you to use batting+lining, but coincidentally I had bought just enough quilted lining to use it here. For underlining, an old cotton sheet that I had saved for this very purpose.

Red + Green = LOVE

Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
No, I haven't changed anything. I've just added the underlining to make it wearable during these cold Dutch winters.

Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
No and maybe. I'm not going to sew it again because it's such a distinct design, I don't need a second one. I'd recommend it if you like the style, it requires a certain degree of madness, but the fun is guaranteed.

Conclusion:
It's a fun coat, every morning I look at it and it makes me incredibly happy. I had once a very proper lady asking me on the street whose coat was this (“mine” I answered – priceless). I've never felt so observed as when I weart it, I've seen open mouthed little girls staring at me, so it's not for the heart-fainted. Love it.

Un post rápido, con dos cosas que contar.

Con la primera os voy a dar un poquillo de envidia (sana). El fin de semana pasado estuve con mis amigas costureras en los United Kingdom, nos juntamos una pandilla de 10 con nuestras máquinas de coser, revistas, patrones y todo lo que se pueda una imaginar.

La segunda noticia es que a partir del 1 de Noviembre cantaré aquello de tenemos chica nueva en la oficina, que se llama Martita Irene y es divina ... Es decir, que empiezo curro nuevo. Eso significa menos tiempo para coser y aún menos para bloguear. Así que las entradas serán más esporádicas si cabe, sorry!

A quick post with some important stuff!

Firstly, it's been a week ago that I had the pleasure to meet up fellow sewers in the UK. The 10 of us rented a cottage, with enough space to fit our sewing machines, fabric and patterns. Believe me, that's no small feat.

Second (big) news is that I'm back in the game! After a few months laying low, from 1st November you'll hear me sing working 9 to 5, what a way to make a living ... This also means less time to sew and even less to blog, so posting will become even more sparse, sorry!
