I have been wanting to do a page using hexagons for a while now! Back in January IIG DT Member, Heather posted a sketch that I used for my layout! Thanks Heather for the great sketch! So, "One of the BOYS, now!" page was a fun event that had my husband and I smiling from the second we "try it" until dinner that night! My son needed a bike helmet, his 1st bike helmet mind you. "The Boys" aka his cousin and neighborhood boys are always riding their bikes around our house. My son, Luke is always right behind them! Monkey see monkey do type thing. So, we get out to buy a helmet and as soon as it is clipped on. It never came off! Through the store Luke wore his new helmet. At the cashier counter he would not take it off. Into the truck for the ride home. He sat all proud in his car seat with his helmet. So, I had to get a shot of him in the car seat when we finally got home. Luke was telling me holding up one finger, "One da Boys!" I used papers from a Close to my Heart pack called, Fanfare. Cut out a large Hexagon and smaller ones using the Accent Essentials cartridge on the Cricut. Choose a Ribbon Palooza in coordinating colors. Popped up my photos using Foam tape and added my title with glitter foam alphabets. On the yellow hexagon the white glitter didn't show up as well so I outlined those with a red glitter pen.

Oh how I LOVE ribbon! In fact, I'm quite the hoarder when it comes to all types of ribbons, even the trims! I am a huge fan of using ribbon in layouts or on altered items. This challenge was a super fun one for me and a very first about me as a child! I have scrapped so many layouts about my boys, dog, hubby, niece and nephews but not one about my younger years. So, I went digging and found this fun one of me back in 1973 on Christmas morning sitting in my brand new Big Wheel that Santa had brought for me. I couldn't have been happier and I still remember wanting to get outside so badly to ride it! For this layout, I pulled out my Cricut Expression and grabbed a svg file I had saved in SCAL and cut it at 11.5 inches for the loops. Then I dug through some of my doilies and pulled out my Mister Huey's "overdue" mist for the smaller doily. I added some flowers and fussy cut the butterfly giving it's body some bling. I used my banner punch, letter stickers and some tiny orange ribbon to complete the banner. Then it was time to play with ribbon and add to the outside loops. I hope this inspires you to create with ribbon and use up some of your stash too! :) Big Wheel

Always end up with bits and pieces of assorted ribbon? You can easily put them to good use while jumping on the banner/pennant bandwagon. I used scraps of different colors and widths. I even stamped on some of them. Tubing

Ribbons galore! This is a challenge I should have no problem with right? Considering the massive amounts of ribbon I have hoarded! But to find just the right ribbons that I needed to match this layout did prove to be a challenge. I ended up going to my trusty Basic Gray ribbon that I have loved since I got it what seems like forever ago! But then it did go perfectly since I was using some Basic Gray papers as well! In fact, the only thing on this layout that isn't BG is the bling and the pic! hehe This picture of my youngest sister and my mother and myself was taken at a family Christmas this past year. She has always been an amazing mother to us girls (we have another sister as well). I wanted to focus on the pic of the three of us in this layout, not that it was taken at Christmas. The title I chose was "she gives LOVE". The journaling says "Of all the things she has given us, her love is the best!" My mom rocks and this is just one way of letting her know it! she gives LOVE

Hello IIG friends!
I am sharing with you a layout I did for our Ribbon Challenge.   I was really stumped with an idea for using ribbon, as it is one of the items that I do not use much in my scrapping.   I was inspired with an idea on how I would use the ribbon after seeing a sketch by Liz Qualman.

I did not use a lot of ribbon, but I am pleased with the results of my layout.  The good news is that I was able to use the Bo Bunny Double Dot Mint Ribbon that I have had in my stash for quite some time.  For a list of the other items and to see the sketch I used to complete this page, please visit my blog: http://granddivasscrappyplace.blogspot.com/

Thanks for stopping by and I am looking forward to seeing all of your ideas on how to use ribbon.

Oh, I love ribbon... and I've had these Chevron ribbons sitting around for a while! I couldn't wait to put a layout together using these ribbons. My layout was based around the ribbon -- not the photo like it should of been! LOL!! :) I took the ribbon and went through my stash of paper to see what best matched it. I did have summer photos waiting to be scrapped. Once I came across the Little Yellow Bicycle's collection, I knew it was perfect for the ribbon and photo I wanted to scrap. Here's what i came up with. I also included close ups on the ribbon banner pieces and the handmade flower I made using the same Chevron ribbon. Summer FunSummer Fun Close up#2Summer Fun Close up #1

What a great way to use up some bits and pieces of ribbon that I just couldn't bear to throw away! I had all of these fun little pieces and used them to accent the photo mat. And now it's time to buy more ribbon!! Eek!!
