Homecoming

For the last 2 months I have been participating in a challenge over at the Scrap Our Stash Challenge blog, having fun too! Last month the blog mom called her challenge "May I" where we found a layout on another blog, left them some luv and showed how we were inspired because of that project. Here is what I came up with for that one:

and said this:

"I visited the blog known as 2 Kids and Some Paper where I found a really great layout that really caught my eye. See if you like it as much as I do :) I chose to Deborahfy it a bit by adding a few extras in spots that called out to me and chose to create an all about me page talking about my love of color :)"

Great challenge and I had fun with it!

This month the challenge is called Homecoming. It is up to you how you interpret this so I made this one:

and said this:

"For the HOMECOMING challenge I know exactly what I wanted to do! My daughter is at home on stage as a dancer and when it came time for recital she was pumped and ready to shine on stage. I made this layout to represent her favorite home place."

Follow the link here to hear the story of my youngest giving herself a haircut...here is a little tease of the pic. TFL!

I'm Getting Around

Back in "the day" that phrase was not meant to be nice, but istead it meant a girl was kinda, well...swanky (blush blush)...today though what I mean is that I have been busy hanging out around the Internet as much as I can and avoiding housework ( you do know about the blog hop coming right???). I love being inspired by the work of others and hope that I in turn can do the same :) so I visit places on the www and I join forces with those that I really like.

I joined up with Fiskateer friend Shannon who you have all seen here before when she was a Pieces and Parts Designer. Here is the link that will take you back to revisit that:

http://ifitsgroovy.blogspot.com/2010/02/meet-pieces-and-parts-designer-shannon.html

I have been having fun at her blog where I am creating layouts based on her sketch. Here is my latest and a link over to visit her when you are finished checking out Groovy Chick projects.

The Moments

As crafters we all look for the moments to have our cameras ready or time to just play with our toys aka punches, paper, adhesive, paint, chalk, die cuts...EARTH TO DEBORAH...Sorry my mind was wandering, lol!

There is another moment I want to talk about today, it's The Moments also known as Scrapping The Moments. I am the Guest Designer for them this month. Hop on over for a visit here http://www.scrappingthemoments.com/ and join. They are a great group of ladies :)

Here is my first challenge of the month...

Create a hand made embellishment that can be used on your layout or card. The emphasis is on "hand" because this was a tag I created that used my hands in two way:
1.the use of my hands themselves
2.Tracing my hand to create a one of a kind tag

I used brads and what nots for rings and bracelets with some of my favorite papers and for good measure leftover produce netting for my picture matting.

It's A Peachy Thing!

So this past month I have been showing you the "I'm a Peachy Kat" pic to the right...just letting you know that I am helping design for this up and coming blog, Let's Get Peachy, that I hope you will check out and have fun with. The girls will be producing layouts and altered projects and I will be sketching. Hope you will stop by to see what they are all up to after your visits here at IIG.
Find me sketching there on Thursdays beginning mid-March :)

Think Pink on SYTYCD

As we continue to bring awareness on the subject of breast cancer I quickly remembered a number from one of my favorite shows, So You Think You Can Dance. The choreographer actually wrote this for this purpose and I think it is definately worth watching. Take a look at the emotion displayed in the eyes and bodies of these beautiful dancers. Kudos to Tyse Diorio for choreographing such a moving piece of art which as we know comes in many many forms. Get out the Kleenex before you press the play button.
Much luv,
Deb♥

Love Sandwiches???

Darlene is as creative as she can be. Sandwiches are not just for bread anymore...read on! She has earned the eu de Groovy Award on this one!!!
Deb♥

When we were given the theme of sandwiches this month, I thought, "I don't even like sandwiches, how am I suppose to pull this off?" I was pretty stumped so I turned to Yahoo images to get some inspiration. What I found were two awesome pictures (http://www.flickr.com/photos/turtlemom_nancy/1357348598/) and (http://www.izmerenie.ru/media/magazine/3DF275BF-6B35-44DE-99A7-1D5AE3B8F758/Hamburger.jpg).

They were so fun and perfect for a sandwich theme, and that really got me going creatively.

I picked out some fun pics of my daughter and I, then I sketched a rough draft of my intended finished sandwich, and finally I went to town on creating each sandwich layer in different patterned papers, textures, and layers. I made 2 of each sandwich layer topping (4 of the sandwich slices), and layered and layered away, until the finished sandwich was a whopping 12 inches tall... now that's a sandwich! I diamond stickled my "love sandwich" title and dotted on "oats" on the bread slices. I topped it off with a toothpick and paper pieced olive at the top and a handwritten "recipe" that reads:

"2 slices of patience
3 pinches of snuggles
1 teaspoon of gentleness
3 extra large hugs
2 scoops of joy
4 pounds of kisses
And this is how you create love."

I hope this inspires you to create your own awesome love sandwich of your own! :)

Croissants are sandwiches too!

This picture is amazing and the croissant made my mouth water! Want to make a croissant today? Follow this link to a great sounding recipe after checking out Vanessa's sandwich layout, yum!

Deb♥

I can honestly say, I have never scrapped food before! :) So this challenge was a lot of fun. My favorite sandwich in the world is a ham and cheese croissant! Toasted of course! Have fun with this challenge.... show us your idea of a "sandwich" layout!

Check THIS Out!

Vanessa has been here with If It's Groovy for awhile now and each of her projects, to me, are beautiful, but this one, well it tops the charts! Read on and perhaps we can help this young lady also hit the top of a chart too! Look for Life Light Up when you hop to the blog Vanessa mentions :)
Deb♥

In the words of Vanessa:
I love to make really cool LO's.. and I get inspiration from all over. The design of this LO was actually based off of a CD album cover of contemporary christian singer - Kristy Nockels (http://www.christynockels.com/).

In this LO I used the color scheme of TEAL - OLIVE - PALE BLUE - BROWN/BLACK. These papers are wonderful for the color scheme... I used Crate Paper's "Brook" themed items. They are wonderful!

In addition, I added 2-3 (or more) flowers and some "glitter and shimmer". For the "glitter and shimmer" I used my SU Dazzling Diamonds and some Stickles.

The photo is my oldest daughter and her boyfriend. Aren't they sweet!

So it's your turn now. Follow the same color scheme and add the same "extra" elements and show me your stuff!!! I can't wait to see what creativity is inspired!

Etsy Visit with Zuk

One of our Groovy Chicks would like to invite us over to her new Etsy...Read on...

My name is Andrea Slee (aka Zuk) and I've been a 2 page designer for If It's Groovy for over 6 months. I love scrapbooking and have been into arts and crafts my whole life. I even managed a year of college in fashion design. I love trying new techniques and making my own embellishments for my pages, so I decided to open up my own etsy shop.

Everything I sell I make with my own two hands and I'm happy to do any custom orders you might have.Right now I have alot of different flowers in many sizes and colors and a few summer embellishments. I draw on inspiration from everywhere and anywhere but especially from nature. So if you're looking for some unique embellishments come check out my store. Be sure to check back often as there's still lots of products I have in the making.

Thanks,
Andrea

Here is the address: http://www.etsy.com/shop/zuksnook

Wishing Andrea the best of luck with her Etsy shoppe!

Go and visit Karen Lee-Blog Award Recipient :)

I recently received a blog award which I love! I was instructed by Natalie, the designer to do this as I passed the torch:

Inspiration Award.

When you get the award, copy this message into your blog post when you pass on the award to someone else: I am going to look for blogs that inspire me no matter how much bling, posts, links, etc they have on them. If I see something that actually invokes a change in they way I look at the world or how I think about papercrafts or if the person says or creates something that brings about novel ideas in me then they get the award.

I will post their first name and a link to their blog. I will leave them a message on their blog letting them know what I thought was so inspiring. Then, on my blog, I will write five or more sentences describing what kinds of things inspire me, what do I do with the inspiration and how can I pay it forward to others.

Karen Lee of has continued to inspire me for some time on her blog. There is always a selection of great photos from her family that is inspirational in that it shows her love of these in her life. She also keepc color all over the board as well as fun gifs which I think shares a piece of herself because you have to search for those to share. She also sews! Need I say more? I am so attracted to the sewing machine which I cannot use! Her cards are incredible and should be sold in stores and the fifth thing I can say about her blog that I love is that she mentions she never would have thought of herself as a blogger, but she is blogging and what a gift it becomes to those who peruse it! Thanks Karen Lee for taking the step to be a blogger and inspiring all who read about you here: http://aplacetosharemystuff.blogspot.com/
