Card Design: Pattie's Creations Challenge #185…Beach/Under the Sea

http://pattiescreationschallenge.blogspot.ca

Hello there folks! I hope that each of you is continuing to stay healthy in your own little corner of this world!

I'm popping in today to announce the next challenge over at Pattie's Creations Design Challenge. This time around for Challenge #185, the theme is Beach/Under the Sea. I took the opportunity to make another birthday card.

General Project Info:
  • This card has been created 100% digitally and then layered in a Mock Up (courtesy of Frisk Shop). It will be printed out and assembled prior to dissemination.

FRONT

Digital Image Details:
  • Six Seashell Images: I have used the scalloped shell from this set. You can find the set in Pattie's Etsy shop by clicking on the image name. This image has been coloured digitally.

  Digital Embellishments:
  • The brads used on the front as accents are from my A Taste of Summer kit. The section can be purchased as part of the full kit. You can find it HERE

 INSIDE

OVERALL
Digital Paper Products:
  • The shell paper and the background glitter paper that I used as matting in behind the patterned paper are both also from my A Taste of Summer kit. The patterned papers can be purchased separately, the glitter papers can be purchased along with the natural texture papers, or both sets can be purchased as part of the full kit to make it more economical. You can find it HERE. The glitter paper has been tweaked a bit to better match the colours in the patterned paper.

Digital Sentiment Details:
  • The sentiments used on the front and the inside were created by Paulette from Create with TLC. I have recoloured a portion of the inside sentiment to better suit the colours in my project. For great freebies and inspiration be sure to click HERE to go to Paulette's blog and for awesome sets for purchase, click HERE to go to the home page of the store.

Digital Embellishment Details:
  • The scalloped matting used on the front and inside was created with a shape courtesy of Marisa Lerin, Pixel Scrapper.
  • I have applied shadow layer styles to give certain elements some depth. These styles were designed by Sheila Reid, Pixel Scrapper.

Challenges I am hoping to enter...

You have until September 2nd to enter our challenge which should give you lots of time to get a creation done. Remember the theme is Beach/Under the Sea. I really hope that you will be able to join us. You can enter three times per challenge and of course MUST follow all the challenge requirements that are posted (please click HERE to become familiar with all the rules).

Pop over to the challenge blog and check out what my fabulous teammates have offered up for inspiration. Oh and don't forget… Pattie offers up a new freebie the first Friday of the month and it will remain up for approximately two weeks; so, be sure to pop over and check it out as well!

Well guys, that is it for this one. Keep washing those hands and stay healthy. Hopefully, I'll see you again soon.

Until next time,

PS: Okay so there has been some headway made in sending out the papers from the 12 Days of Christmas. I have sent the set to the 11 individuals who completed the full quest. I will now be sending out individual papers to those people who only participated in certain days. For those of you remaining, your continued patience is appreciated.

Card Design: August New Releases at Fresh Brewed Designs

It is time for some brand new release from Fresh Brewed Designs.  This time around we're hitting the beach and visiting with some magical mermaids.  I'll be back on Friday to introduce you to the whole new collection but for today, I'm going to show you the creation I made with the image called, MaluhiaIf you click on the watermark, it will open up the home page over at FBD where you can find this cool mermaid tail and all the rest of the new releases...

http://www.freshbreweddesigns.com
This digi release will continue on until Saturday.  Heather has an event page set up over on Facebook.  Click HERE to join in on all the fun.

Here are my card and details.  I hope I haven't forgotten anything important...

General Information:
  • Thanks to Heather, I found out that Maluhia, a word derived from the Hawaiian language, means peace, serenity, calmness, quiet, etc.  As I glanced at the digi and thought about the definition, it finally came to me.  This would make a perfect, if untraditional, condolences card.   Inspired with that in mind, this is what I came up with.

FRONT
Digital Image Details:
  • Mahulia: Part of the new release collection of Mermaids coming out today. This is such a unique image and I had fun playing around with it.  You can find all the new releases over at the store right now by clicking HERE.
    • This image was coloured in digitally and then printed out.  Now since the sandbank that the mermaid is on is underwater, it took me some time to figure out how to colour it.  I decided the best thing to do would be to overlay it with the water but make it transparent so you can see the sand underneath.  It might look a little odd to some but I am hoping that it looks okay for the most part and actually looks like what it is supposed to. Digital credits include:
      • Cloud and water patterns courtesy of Webtreats, Etc.
      • Sand is a layer style from Sheila Reid, purchased at Pixel Scrapper.
      • The lower body of the mermaid was digitally paper pieced using a scanned version of the paper I used on the inside.
      • The tail colours were added digitally as well.
      • Then I added some shading to all the different elements to help give it a bit of depth.
Digital Sentiment Details:
  • I added the word Mahulia to the front of the card before printing it out.

INSIDE

Digital Sentiment Details:
  • Both of the sentiments on the inside have been designed by me. The colours were matched to the designer paper that was used on the inside.
  • Now since I figured the recipient wouldn't understand the meaning behind the card, I added the definition to the inside right hand side.  Hopefully, this isn't weird and will help the person understand the meaning.

OVERALL
Paper Products:
  • Image and sentiment base: Michael's Recollection's Cardstock, white.
  • Card base, matting and extra pieces on the inside right: Crafts Brand Cardstock, brown -- purchased at Dollarama
  • The paisley paper is from the Recollection's Paisley and Damask Paper Pad.
