Blog Hop: Summer Fun with TLC Creations

Hello everyone! It is officially summer in the northern hemisphere. During the hot summer months there is nothing better than dipping ones' toes in the water. I've been fortunate enough to dip my toes in the actual ocean a few times. However, it hasn't happened often since I live in the middle of the country, thousands of kilometres from the nearest coast. Now, even if I can't get to the ocean I can still dream of it and the fun of summer and today's blog hop will help. It will also help you to build up your TLC collection as well!

Many of us on the Create with TLC Design Team will be hosting a spot during the blog hop. All of us will share a creation that we have made using at least one if not more of Paulette's elements and just YOUR luck, the image that we all use will be available for free download on each blog hop stop along the way! You'll also be able to pick up a free word art creation at Paulette's blog.

You should have arrived here from the talented Ileana's blog. If you are just starting, you can find a full list of all the hop stops at the bottom of this post.

For my card, I got to use the Trio at the Beach image you see below; so, be sure to head on over to Paulette's BLOG and leave her some love if you grab it!

Card Design: Nicecrane Designs Birthday Card

    http://nicecranedesigns.com/
Today I want to share with you all, the card I made for momma's birthday back at the beginning of March.  My momma loves vintage so I knew the perfect images would be found at Nicecrane Designs and I wasn't disappointed.

Here are my card and details.  I hope I haven't forgotten anything...

    FRONT

    Digital Image Details:
    • Birds:  These two gorgeous birds were fussy cut from an image available in the Birds and Blossoms II collage sheet.  You can click on the watermark below to head to its location in the store.  Aren't they all just so pretty?!  If this doesn't help get your mind into the idea that spring will be here soon, nothing will!

    http://nicecranedesigns.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=108&products_id=1232
    Additional Notes:
    • I knew that I wanted to use birds somehow for my momma's card and when I paid a visit to Lisa Minkler, from You Make Me Ink, I knew just what to do.  You see Lisa had made a gorgeous creation (all Lisa's work is gorgeous for that matter) and she had fussy cut a number of birds out from this collection to use on her project.  I hadn't even thought about fussy cutting them until that point.  So next, I flipped through my Papercrafts Best of Card Creations book where I found a card that had a heart on it made from a music sheet and thankfully had enough mojo lurking around in my head to come up with the rest.
    Digital Paper:
    • The music sheet paper that I used for the heart is a freebie designed by Lindsay Stamps and Stuff and picked up over at My Grafico quite a long time ago.  I created a heart shape and then created a mask with the music paper to come up with what you see above.  I fussy cut it out and then inked up the edges.
    Digital Sentiment Details:
    • The sentiment is the freebie I offered up on my momma's birthday.  You can find it HERE if you are interested.  I figured out the size I wanted the card to be and then lined things up so that when I printed the sentiment, the paper would serve as my card base.  Then I just trimmed down the paper and folded.
      Embellishments:
      • I added a string of beads that came from a stash that my momma gave me.
      • I superimposed a brown ribbon on top of a coffee colour one.  The ribbons are Crafts brand purchased at Dollarama.

      INSIDE
      Digital Sentiment:
      • One I created.

      OVERALL
      Paper Products:

      • Card base & inside sentiment dropback:  Michael's Recollection's Cardstock, white.
      • Designer Paper:  Front & inside--K & C Company Designer Paper--Best of...florals collection.
      • The brown cardstock that I used as matting (inside) is from Dollarama.
Challenges I am hoping to enter...
      Before I go...
If you are looking for more beautiful bird images for any of your spring cards, then be sure to go and check out this additional Birds and Blossoms collection of images as well (c
lick on the image to head to its location in the store).

Tag Design: Kewpie Countdown to Love with Nicecrane Designs Day 2

      http://nicecranedesigns.com/

Last night I showcased the first of three tags I have created for my husband for Valentine's Day.  Well, it is now day two of three in my countdown to love.  This tag features another of the adorable little Kewpie Dolls from Nicecrane Designs new set of images.  I am hoping that the hubs will like this one too!  I plan on hiding all three tags in different locations where he'll find them as he gets ready for work tomorrow morning.  Let's hope he hasn't chosen to visit my blog this week.
      Digital Image Details:
      • I don't know about you, but I'm just loving these precious little Kewpie dolls.  This one is just as cute as the one I showcased yesterday!  I think a lot of it has to do with the incredible facial expressions that the artist features on these historical images.  Of course this little Kewpie inspired me to come up the sentiment I used.  As I mentioned yesterday, this image is one of 14 Kewpie Doll images available in a new stunning set from Nicecrane Designs.  Not only do you get both the colour version AND the black and white version, you also receive a separate file for each picture.  I've used the colour version in all my projects this week.  You can click on the watermark below to head to its location in the store.
       http://nicecranedesigns.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=124&products_id=1219
       Digital Sentiment:
      • Created in Publisher.  I added a solid outline to the textbox before printing.
      Embellishments:
      • The little flourish is Recollection's brand purchased at Michael's.
      • The curling ribbon is from my stash.
      Electronic Die Cut:
      • I forgot to mention yesterday, but the tag base for both tags was cut out using my Cricut machine and the Birthday Bash cartridge.
      Digital Papers:
      • Once again I have relied on my wonderful new digital paper pack created by Kris B. from Imagine That Digis.  I am now up to four projects this week using this same paper set! This is the seventh different paper in the set I've been able to showcase.   All of these awesome papers are from the digital paper pack called "Ticket to Bliss".  To purchase this particular paper pack, click on the watermark you see below.

Challenges I am hoping to enter. ..

I hope you liked my second tag.  I'll be back tomorrow to show you the last one.

      Until next time,

      Pssst...Check This Out

If you haven't found Create With TLC yet, you have no idea what you are missing.  Each day brings inspiration, new items to the store and of course freebies.  I'm going to be contacting Paulette very soon to schedule a Saturday Showcase starring this fabulous blog sometime in September when the world is back from vacation because I don't want anyone to miss it.

In the interim, if you love vintage images then you are going to want to pay attention.

Paulette often takes vintage images within the Public Domain, cleans them up, performs a little magic and then presents them as quality png images to use. Well, now she has created a page on her blog, where she will be offering a wide array of them for free.  Yes, you heard that right, completely FREE!   However, you'll need to check in frequently because she will randomly be switching them in and out; and, if you don't visit regularly, you are certain to miss some real gems!  For example, here are a few of the images she has up on the page right now...

Aren't these vintage images just awesome?  And, this is just a sample of them!    Right now, Paulette has FOURTEEN up for grabs!

So, why not go pay this special new page a visit!  You can find the Vintage Graphics page by clicking HERE.  Don't forget to leave Paulette some love if you download ANY of her freebies, vintage or otherwise.  It is the thanks from people who download, that help motivate creators to keep on creating!

While you are there, check out the main blog by clicking HERE and spend some time shopping in the store by going HERE.

      Until next time,
