Street: Orange grid

A few weeks ago the faded orange grid on the tramtracks close to campus were repainted. I've been wanting to go there and photograph it since before my staycation, but didn't get round to do it.

Today I walked over there in between rain showers to have a look. Because the streets were still wet the orange colour just popped. Unbelievable!

You probably all know by now that I love patterns and these were so fantastic, I got a little excited by looking at them.

I also like the fact that you can see the old and the new layers of paint, they're quite crude actually. Nothing subtle about it, but then again, these patterns are to warn pedestrians so they should be plain to see.
Anyways, I enjoyed looking at the orange patterns, I hope you do too.

Sunset

On one of the evenings during the past week I looked out of the window and I saw this beautiful coloured sunset. I rushed to get my camera and I remember  thinking that I should this more often: just look out of the window for the sky.

But then it became a strange week weather wise: we've had a lot of rain and overcast skies since I took this picture so I could not make this into a series. Still, you can enjoy this one shot and maybe during the rest of the summer when evenings are long, I will be able to take some more images of coloured skies.

Sunset

Wow, I just looked out of the window and saw this amazing sky! The colours are simply fantastic, even better than on my pictures.

All about Orange

My own university is being renovated and refurbished, department by department. Outside the main building there are some containers sitting on the sidewalk: it contains equipment for the builders. Other containers are used for removing old office furniture. The containers of the builders were orange and every time I passed them (and that was frequently) something caught my eye: shadows, scratches, handles or even the reflection in a car.

Shooting color

For the first time since I'm back from the holidays I went on a lunch break today. I had my camera with me and I decided to shoot colour. Colour is the first assignment within the Miksang practice.

That is because colour is pleasing, colour is not subtle and it has no meaning by itself (apart what we gave it and that's all in the mind).

You try to look out of context, free from associations, memories, reference points, likes or dislikes (source: The Practice of Contemplative Photography, by Andy Karr and Michael Wood).

Lazy

I like the colours and style of handwriting.

Leaf on car

Autumn gives us wonderful colours. As I was walking back from doing groceries, I run into parked car with a leaf stuck onto it.
