Pink petals after the rain

Last night it had rained about all night. When I looked out today I noticed that the trees had lost a lot of their blossoms, most of them had fallen on the ground because of the rain and wind.

It was wonderful and rich to look at all those pink petals on the street and pavement. Their colour had changed from a light pink to a full pink after the rain.

In the pictures above and below you can see where the petals were densely concentrated, they were left in the spot where the wind had blown them.

From the first floor of our building I had more of an overview over the area and I could easily spot shapes and forms. I just love how these simple seasonal occurrences can give me joy and it is right around the corner, not only regarding location (right behind my house) but also regarding ability: I just need to be available and to open my eyes. Then I see the richness of the world around me.

Pink petals

The day before yesterday I photographed the blossoming trees in my street and at the back of the house (see here). Last night it had rained quite a lot so that the trees had lost a lot of their blossoms and this morning it looked like it had snowed!

I became very enthusiastic about this, you know, this visual spectacle only happens once a year and I was happy to have witnessed it.

The shot right above is secretly my favorite: the grass was covered with a layer of petals. The daisies in the grass were easily overlooked and it took me a little while to notice them. They looked tender and vulnerable.

I end this post with one of my favorite past times: looking in the water. I am usually stopped by what I see in there.

Green stuff on cars

A short blog post today as I am still feeling not quite well. I went to work yesterday, I was physically present but not quite mentally. And as today was my day off I spent it fruitfully (carrying some stuff from one room to another) with a lot of rests in between.
As most days I took my camera with me and there were a few cars in my street that drew my attention, especially one black car that was covered in green 'stuff'.

See what I mean?

And then there was this other black car (sorry, I always forget what kind of cars, I really should make a note of it) with lots of raindrops on it and two tiny petals.

Last but not least there was this twig on a red car. It caught my eye as I walked past it and I was stopped.
Hope you had a wonderful day.

Fallen petals

Spring is progressing and the blossoms that were on tree are now falling to the ground in abundance. They form lovely patterns on the sidewalks, like confetti. I remember I shot many pictures of that process last year, see over here
Today I went to the grocery store and again I had perceptions of pink and purple petals on the sidewalk and on cars. I really enjoy seeing the petals, it is so festive! I hope you enjoy it, too.

Over the hill blossoms

Last thursday I went to the botanical gardens again, it's always such a joy to be there. To watch how the garden changes all year around is just fascinating to me. In the beginning of the week I saw this tree blooming at its peak, but I didn't have a camera on me (how did that happen?) except my cell phone and that didn't quite capture the tree as I saw it. So when I finally came back later in the week the tree was already a bit 'over the hill', past its peak. It was still beautiful to watch the petals falling down like snow and to smell the faint fragrance from the flowers.

Pink rose petals

These pictures have been taken in the past week whilst doing groceries.

This first picture was a major stopper: even with two heavy shopping bags I stopped dead in my tracks, put the bags down and got my camera out. The colours are so vivid I simply could not not photograph this perception.

The second picture was taken on the same day, in the same street but a few houses up. The shadow of the steering wheel of the bicycle gives this image an extra dimension.

This last picture was taken a few days earlier, also in the same street (my street). This is just simplicity for me: rose petals on the sidewalk. Could life be any prettier?
