Blackberry and watermelon might sound like a crazy combination, but the smoothie turned out very well so I'd like to share it with you. It was actually more of a drink than a smoothie and it didn't last me all morning, but the taste is very refreshing because of the watermelon.
Ingredients:
1 large handful of blackberries
1 quarter of a watermelon
1 banana
I didn't add any kind of sweetener or power foods, but you can do that if you so desire. Mix the ingredients in a blender and pour in a large glass. Enjoy!

Turmeric-orange smoothie
This is another smoothie I tried out of the book Plant Power by Lisette Kreischer, I wrote a small review earlier this week on that book. She calls this smoothie Smoothie on Fire.
Ingredients:
1 pear
1 carrot
juice of 2 oranges
1/2 teaspoon of turmeric
1 banana
Peal the pear and the banana, clean the carrot. Blend all ingredients in the blender until the smoothie is even.
The taste was surprising: you can taste the orange, the pear is very subtle and the turmeric gives it a nice twist.
Turmeric, also known as kurkuma is related to ginger and is used in Chinese and Ayurvedic medicine against inflammation. This powerful root contains a lot of antioxidants and has a positive effect on the formation of cancerous cells, it stimulates the liver to its cleansing function and it contributes to the lowering of the cholesterol.

Fruit-carrot juice
This morning I felt like making myself a delicious juice. I had bought lots of fruit yesterday so I could take my pick, I made a fruit-carrot juice.
Ingredients:
2-3 carrots
1 orange
2 apples
1 pear
bit of fresh ginger
Put all the ingredients through the juicer and pour in a glass. This juice is for those who have a real sweet tooth: it was a lot sweeter than I imagined. I love the light orange colour of the juice, it feels very much like summer.

Banana lettuce smoothie
I was looking at the contents of my fruit bowl and refrigerator this morning and decided I could make a smoothie of the leftovers that I found there. Lettuce is maybe a bit weird to put in a smoothie, but I've read lots of recipes with spinach so I thought why not?
Ingredients:
2 bananas
1 avocado
1/2 head of lettuce
1 spoonful of raw chocolate nibs
1 teaspoonful of maca powder
1 spoonful of hemp powder
1 spoonful of agave syrup
oat milk
Put all the ingredients in the blender, mix well, pour in a glass and sprinkle with raw chocolate nibs.

Apple-kiwi juice
The temperatures are rising over here, Spring has come and gone. These days feel like Summer. I'm more in the mood for healthy juices now than ever.
Here is a juice from some leftover fruit and vegetables.
Ingredients:
3 assorted apples, 1 pear, 2 kiwis, a slice of ginger, 1/3 cucumber and a bit of lettuce
Put the ingredients though the juicer, pour into a glass and drink! The ginger gives a little pungent to the juice. With this drink you start your day in a very energizing way.

Apple-carrot juice
Carrots contain lots of protective carotenoids which are good for the health of the eys (we all know that, right?) and skin. Carrot juice is easy to digest and very soothing for the alimentary canal.
Ingredients: 3 assorted apples, 1 orange, 1 slice of ginger and about 3 carrots.
Put all the fruit and vegetables in the juicer, mix, pour and enjoy. Gives you lots of energy!

Healthy green juice
Since Spring begun so early and eagerly, I am totally back into the mood of making juices and smoothies on my days off. This week I tried a green juice, this was inspired by the recipe on Vegadutchie, except that I used more greens.
The ingredients:
2 apples
1 orange
2 large carrots
2 celery stalks
handful of fresh spinach
handful of fresh chopped broccoli
Put all the fruit and vegetables in the juicer, mix, pour and enjoy. Gives you lots of energy!
With the left over pulp I made a smoothie, adding: a banana, maca powder, chia seed, a bit of agave sirup and some rice milk. Lovely!

Mango-spinach smoothie
The mangos were looking gorgeous yesterday, so I bought one to treat myself to a delicious mango-spinach smoothie.
The main ingredients are shown above: 1 banana, 1 mango and a handful of wild spinach. I added a splash of coconut water, a teaspoon of macapowder and a teaspoon of spirulina. Blend and eat. Delicious!

Raw pomegranate-apple-carrot juice
I tried a different juice yesterday: pomegranate-apple-carrot juice. The pomegranates were on offer at the health food shop, so I thought I'd give it a try. The combination of the sweetness of the apple and the bitterness of the pomegranate make it a very refreshing drink.
Ingredients: 1 pomegranate, 1 apple and 3 big carrots. Put the ingredients in the juicer and pour in a large glass. You feel the energy rushing through your body after drinking!

Raw carrot juice
As I promised yesterday, I would share a recipe of raw carrot juice. This is actually a variation that I haven't tried before, but I read it the other night on the menu of a restaurant, I ordered it and liked it very much.
I started out with the ingredients shown above, but after tasting I added more four carrots. You could add another apple if you like your juice to be sweet. The little white thing in the middle is a piece of ginger.Put the ingredients in the juicer, pour in a large glass and enjoy! It is very healthy and it would be excellent to start the day with this liquid.
