Anam's scrapbook area

A peak on to Anam Stubbington's scrapbook area.

Creative spaces dont have have to be dream spaces, the most important thing is to have an area where you can create and we should all be thankful to be able to do so!

Small spaces?

I am in no way linked to Ikea, except for the fact that I buy 90% of my furniture there because pretty much is the only thing I can afford.

But you got to admit this ad is cool and inspiring.
Off to do some rethinking of my craft room...

Elizabeth's closet

A couple of days ago I posted a dinner cabinet refurbishment. Today,  we share this closet recycled into a perfect scrapbooking storage area.

Elizabeth recently removed the closet doors and changed a linen closet into a scrapbook storage area. We have had other entries with closets, but it is nice to be reminded of this simple idea, which I think is easy to do as long as you have large closets without any clothes in them.

Ribbon Storage

Another ribbon storage idea. I love this one, which is similar but better that the one I have at home. Maybe an upgrade is needed by my studio.

Georgina's creative space

Georgina's craft room is 10' x 8' which is perfect for her needs as "creates her little safe heaven"!

The idea that I love form this studio is how she displays cards.

Isn't it great? It is a 4 lined retractable washing line across the top of the room, where she hangs all her cards on it.

Click here for more photos and explanation from Georgina on what and why she uses for Crafty Storage.

Jane's creative cupboard

Jane's litle cupboard studio is it is only a 3ft by 5ft space.

But you know what? I love it. Everything needed to create is there. I think this space is one of those that makes you realize that having a small creative space does not mean that you are going to create less or worst than if you do have a larger one.
Having a big one has its advantages, but trust me, a little one has them too.

Click here for more photos and explanation on what and why Jane has used for her creative space.

A great studio

Sometimes the greatest ideas come in the smallest packages. And this is one of them. We often forget that having a great space to create is not about size it is about creativity and what inspires us to create. Some are lucky and have amazing rooms, others have just amazing spaces in their cupboard.

Amy's Awesome Paper Storage Idea!

Amy over at Bearpaw Studios recently updated her crafts room with a bright and cheery colour scheme and new shelves. I love how everything has a place to live, but is within easy reach:

Let's take a closer look at the paper storage unit on her desk:
(photo courtesy of Amy at Bearpaw Studios)

Looks great, doesn't it? Lots of room, colour-coordinated, and allows you to see all your colours at once. Want to know where to get one? Make it! In Amy's own words:

"We took an unfinished cube from Michaels and used 3/8" square wooden spacers and foam poster board. I used a 3" piece of grosgrain ribbon to show which color is in that space. Now I can see each color (and how much I have so I can keep a better inventory.)"

I just love the idea of using ribbon to indicated the colour as well as make it easy to pull out the paper you need. Thanks for the awesome idea Amy!

Ashli Craft room

I will let Ashli talk about her craft room
We turned our Main Floor Powder room in to a Craft Room. We took out our toilet and sink, capped off the plumbing and added the cabinets. We used Michaels Scrapbook storage cabinets for the left side of the room and Ikea cabinets for the far wall.
I Love to Scrapbook and knit and the room supports those functions perfectly.
I started a blog a couple months back and no matter what else I do to the house the craft room still gets the most attention, I think it's because it use to be a bathroom.

Click here for the main page of her blog and here for the posts that relate to the craft room.
There are alot of pictures and a good explanation.

Margy Vogel-Coomer storage

When I received Margy's submission I loved the way that she had selected a colour combination, Red and off white, as well as a shabby chic rustic look.

I am specially in love with this library card storage conversion.

Bridget's studio

I will let Bridget explain her studio.
My studio (I love calling it that) is actually in a guest bedroom. I
gave myself a budget of $75. I wanted a work-place that was organized
and fun. I was really struggling with my sickers and my stamps,
photos and misc. stuff! I would just stack everything on paper trays,
and it wasn't pretty!

There was an old brown dresser in the guest bedroom. My in-laws
purchased it at an auction for less than $15 about twenty years ago.
It has huge, deep drawers. I spent about $12 sanding and re-painting
it. I'm using the top drawer for stamping, and the middle drawer has
my current scrapbooking albums.

I use the utility cart for storing stickers. I have them divided up
by theme. I use the hanging wall cabinet for ribbons and storing
photos that are waiting to be cropped. I also have two pink
containers. One pink container holds all my adhesives, while the
other holds all the little tickets and hotel room keys I manage to
collect. The caddy on the dresser holds scissors, scrapbooking
markers, hole punches, brads and my corner rounder.

Crafting in 16 square feet!

Yes, you read that right. Laurana crafts in a closet that is about 1.5 square meters (or just over 16 square feet.) And you should be jealous. She somehow managed to take a tiny space, and not only make it functional, but make it pretty!

Just look at all that storage!

Laurana's blog is in Finnish, but you can find a short description of her space on Apartment Therapy.

So where do you do your crafting? Is it a room? A closet? Your dining room table? We'd love to hear about it!

Tales of a Cube City: A makeover tale

Hello there everyone, this is Angi, one of your new Crafty Storage team members, reporting to you from Not so sunny, Dover, Delaware....

Susan, from Busy with the Cricky
has spent some time in the last year making over her scrapbook space.

The basic premise of her space is cubes, the six most recent cubes (pictured above) she purchased at Oriental Trading Company she used two cubes with (2)drawers, four basic cubes, and two sets of shelves (for a total of ten shelves). As you can see, this made great paper storage, lots of room for embellies and even a great stand for a printer or cricut or other bulky machine. You can get this whole set up for under $300.00

When Susan moved into her new home 2.5 years ago, she picked the smallest bedroom, her L shaped desk and a simple rectangular desk. She has slowly added shelf units to her room, making a small scrap space very functional and with-in her budget.

I moved the cardstock paper stacker to this little wall by the closet. There is still a nice four foot entry area to get into the room.

She has a very supportive hubby er... Santa who has added little storage treasures to her room over time... All these cubes pieced together have made a fantastically charming space out of a tiny bedroom.

By far though, my favorite thing in Susan's space is Caroline, her aptly named wire dress form.... She got some new hooked clips from Santa which worked nicely to add embellishments to the dress form, becoming both functional and fashionable.

Susan, thinks her scraproom 2010 face lift isn't too fancy, but it sure it functional and its a whole lot better than the two cards tables I am using ;)smile

I can't wait to share some more organization tips with you soon!! Until next time,

Hugs!
Angi
