Charmaine's beautification project

We all like a bit of pretty crafty storage, but sometimes we have to make it ourselfs.

Charmaine shares on her blog here the process to turn her plain drawers into something more pretty.

When crafty storage takes over the whole house

Today is Nancy's crafty storage turn.

I don't have just one room...it has taken over my whole house. I'm single again, so I don't have to worry about it!
I give a little tour of all the "stuff". I'm not certain any of it fits your definition of "good storage" because I didn't clean up for the pictures!  It is "REAL LIFE".
To me good storage is what works for the crafter. So your is as goods as it gets!

Sharon's basement workshop!

I will let Sharon explain:
It has evolved over the past 8 years going from an unfinished part of the basement.  As a Christmas gift my husband built this room with recessed lights, built in shelves, tile flooring and a window to look into the other side of the basement where we set up a playroom for the kids.  Now the kids are teens with my 16 yr old son's bedroom is next to my workshop, so I am not allowed to open the shades. :o)I just finished the most recent Purging, Organizing, Storing set up last month.  I love my room now.  Everything I used on a daily basis is within arm's reach.  I would live here if I could.

LeeAnn's new studio space

LeeAnn over at Flowerbug's Inkspot has an amazing new crafty space, thanks to her DIY husband! Check out the area for her classes:

(all photos courtesy of LeeAnn at Flowerbug's Inkspot)

Don't you love that bright, cheery green and the crisp white cabinets? And notice the size? They combined two rooms into one, giving LeeAnn an amazing 30 x 15 feet. Dreamy!

Here's a close-up of her workspace. Look at all that storage!

LeeAnn also has several wonderful storage options for things like stamps:

Sizzix dies

Punches (featuring those handy Ikea Bygel rails!)

And my favourite, paper storage in a SHOE cabinet (Ikea's Stall). How utterly ingenious!

Head over to LeeAnn's blog for more details and many more photos. Make sure you tell her Crafty Storage sent you!

Amy's Awesome Paper Storage Idea!

Amy over at Bearpaw Studios recently updated her crafts room with a bright and cheery colour scheme and new shelves. I love how everything has a place to live, but is within easy reach:

Let's take a closer look at the paper storage unit on her desk:
(photo courtesy of Amy at Bearpaw Studios)

Looks great, doesn't it? Lots of room, colour-coordinated, and allows you to see all your colours at once. Want to know where to get one? Make it! In Amy's own words:

"We took an unfinished cube from Michaels and used 3/8" square wooden spacers and foam poster board. I used a 3" piece of grosgrain ribbon to show which color is in that space. Now I can see each color (and how much I have so I can keep a better inventory.)"

I just love the idea of using ribbon to indicated the colour as well as make it easy to pull out the paper you need. Thanks for the awesome idea Amy!

Bridget's studio

I will let Bridget explain her studio.
My studio (I love calling it that) is actually in a guest bedroom. I
gave myself a budget of $75. I wanted a work-place that was organized
and fun. I was really struggling with my sickers and my stamps,
photos and misc. stuff! I would just stack everything on paper trays,
and it wasn't pretty!

There was an old brown dresser in the guest bedroom. My in-laws
purchased it at an auction for less than $15 about twenty years ago.
It has huge, deep drawers. I spent about $12 sanding and re-painting
it. I'm using the top drawer for stamping, and the middle drawer has
my current scrapbooking albums.

I use the utility cart for storing stickers. I have them divided up
by theme. I use the hanging wall cabinet for ribbons and storing
photos that are waiting to be cropped. I also have two pink
containers. One pink container holds all my adhesives, while the
other holds all the little tickets and hotel room keys I manage to
collect. The caddy on the dresser holds scissors, scrapbooking
markers, hole punches, brads and my corner rounder.

Beth's clever ideas and studio

IKEA curtain wire across the top and magnetic knife holders display cards and projects.
Jet Max cube system and a pegboard from Walmart.

I love this ink pad holder foam core ink pad holder that her daughter made for $2 and some glue sticks. Above it hangs a screw etc caddy from the hardware store.

Her handy daughter made Beth these racks to hold the stamp sets. After seeing something similar at IKEA for 20 dollars for 6 feet, she made them out of wood, stained and mounted them for 20 dollars total!

After losing more than a few sheets of cardstock to fading from the sun, Beth asked her friend Larissa to make a "cozie" for the paper racks.
