Becky's new studio

Anyone familiar with Becky Oehlers' crafting style knows it is clean, fresh, and visually stunning. So when Becky revealed her new studio, it was no surprise to see the bright white furniture, clean open space, and beautiful touches.

The view from the door glows with all the natural light reflecting off the crisp white ceiling. The room measures 12'x12'.

There's a sweet little dormer on each side, complete with table and chair. This one serves as Becky's sewing station. Each dormer adds about 3'x3' to the room.
At the far end, built-in storage houses buttons, ribbon, magazine holders, and boxes for storage. The embellishments are organized in rainbow order - a girl after my own heart!
Topping off the entire room is this sweet and sparkly chandelier, which pops against the lovely blue walls ("Vintage Map" from the Martha Stewart Collection.)
Take a tour of Becky's room and see more photos at Hemidemisemiquaver Design Blog. Be sure to tell her Crafty Storage sent you!

gm glimmerglass Studio

Oh my goodness golly. When I first saw the AMAZING studio over at gm glimmerglass, I was stunned. Speechless, really.

We all love to keep our crafty areas organized, but that often turns into a very practical decor. Lots of drawers and plastic and labels. That often clashes with our sense of colour, space, and aesthetics. Genevieve has found the best of both worlds, weaving soft colours, lots of texture, and most of all, warmth into her craft studio.(photo courtesy of gm glimmerglass)

In her own words:

"Working in a little shoebox of a studio, I try to maximize every inch of space while keeping things visually clear. I've kept the walls "very vanilla" which provides me with a calm surround for some of the eye-popping, intensely colored artwork that comes outa here."

Hop over to Genevieve's blog to see all the photos, and hear more about her amazing room! There are two posts: Let's Get this Party Started and Zoom and Enhance. Look for her cool marker storage idea and don't miss Godzilla wearing pearls! :D

Amy's Awesome Paper Storage Idea!

Amy over at Bearpaw Studios recently updated her crafts room with a bright and cheery colour scheme and new shelves. I love how everything has a place to live, but is within easy reach:

Let's take a closer look at the paper storage unit on her desk:

Looks great, doesn't it? Lots of room, colour-coordinated, and allows you to see all your colours at once. Want to know where to get one? Make it! In Amy's own words:

"We took an unfinished cube from Michaels and used 3/8" square wooden spacers and foam poster board. I used a 3" piece of grosgrain ribbon to show which color is in that space. Now I can see each color (and how much I have so I can keep a better inventory.)"

I just love the idea of using ribbon to indicated the colour as well as make it easy to pull out the paper you need. Thanks for the awesome idea Amy!

Craft room inspiring my own renovation.

My name is Christy and I'm happy to be contributing to Crafty Storage. I am currently in the midst of a craft room overhaul. After many moves and accumulation it is time. In doing research for my "remodel" I cam across Crafty Storage as well as many others. I hope my findings along my own task will help others.

One craft room that has already been featured, but deserves to be revisted belongs to Amanda. From her custom desk and shelving to use of purchased drawer sets, Amanda has thought of just about everything. I can only dream that when I'm done my studio will resemble even 10% of what she has accomplished here. The picture above is the most recent, taken just last week. Check out her blog and tour of her Scraproom. I just can't get over how she has her paper organized and well kept. Just like in a store... This will be my first assignment for my own room.

Check back for more ideas. I hope to have some before and after photos of my own craftroom soon.
