Agitte's craftroom and her storage idea's blog

Next month Agitte will celebrate her 25th aniversary in the craft business. She enjoyed: making dollhouses, embroidery, painting, scrapbooking, stamping, papercrafting, etc. She also loves organising. Through the years she found many great storage idea's. So a couple of months ago she started a blog with her great idea's, but you can also find storage idea's from other crafters.

Dawn's metal die storage

Metal dies are all the rage, and the storage of those dies is a hot topic here at Crafty Storage.

Dawn over at My Favorite Things has a great idea for DIY die storage. And it's eco-friendly too!

She used a cardstock, leftover acetate sheets, and her sewing machine to create these simple and yet very practical die storage pockets!
(photo courtesy of Dawn at My Favorite Things)

Each die slips easily into the pocket, but is easy to see (thanks to the acetate). And if you read Dawn's blog, you'll know that a plain plastic basket won't do to store all the pockets - Dawn loves vintage, and has an amazing eye for style and colour (note how the colours of the cardstock coordinate with her blog!) - so she stores them in a vintage loaf pan. Cute and simple!

It's obvious how well this solution works with solid, larger dies, but it can be easily adapted to work with smaller dies (use a smaller piece of acetate) long, skinny dies (sew the pocket down the middle to hold two on one card), and even multiple stacked dies like Nestabilities (cut a thin magnetic sheet to hold the dies together and then slide it into the pocket.)

Check out Dawn's blog for more details on how she created the pockets. Love this idea? Let us know if you try it out, or if you have your own way to store metal dies (or other crafting tools.) We'd love to hear from you!

Nestabilities Die Storage Solution

I often look at things with an eye for using them for other things than what they were originally created for.

Nothing too out-of-box - in most cases it's how it can be used to help me organize my ever-growing supplies for papercrafting!

For example I keep my ribbon in planter boxes!

When it came time to re-organize my Nestability dies I had a solution I liked I just needed it to be BIGGER!

I ended up buying a LARGE 320 CD Storage Binder and I'm so pleased with it!

Book of Nestabilities

I recenlty joined the Nestablilities Group over at Paper Craft Planet. My attention was immediately drawn to some photos on the main group page. Terry has created a binder just for her Nestabilities. She tells me the pages are magnet sheets adhered to cling foam stamp storage panels. The outside is decorated beautifully. I have been experimenting with magnet sheets inside CD cases but I'm finding they aren't as portable as I would like because the cases are getting scratched and cracked. Not too mention sorting through them all to decide which sets to bring to crops. I think a grab and go binder that you can flip through easily might just be the way to go. Terry is new to bloggin but I'll be checking back to see what else she comes up with.

Robyn has used the Bind it All to create a magnetic book for her Nestabilities. I am just in love with the grab 'em all and go storage.

Valentine's Studio Space

Hi! I'm Dawn and I'm really excited to be contributing to the Crafty Storage Blog.

My first post is my friend's Clair and Sharni's fabulous craft space, they recently posted a tour on their blog.

Since then Clair has also posted about her nifty punch storage and her nestability storage.

I can't believe how they manage to keep their craftroom so tidy - all the time! It must be the organisation!

Kathleen Flannigan's storage Idea

In her own words:

On SCS forum I read that storing the sets in CD cases was quite popular. So I tried it with the magnetic sheet stuck to the inside of the cases. It worked for me at home except that I found it took 2 cases to hold a complete (4) set. As I have complete sets of circles, ovals, squares, rectangles as well as stars and ribbon tags that was a number of CD cases taking up space. I also often go to my friends home for all day papercrafting. The first time that I travelled with them a cases cracked. So I looked around all of our (Australian) department, discount etc stores for ideas.

I found these at Kmart and they were only $1.00 each. They are shockproof and have 10 suspended double sided pockets in them.
I made a card for each individual set and stuck a sheet of magnet on the back.
I found that one case held comfortably 3 complete sets using only the front of the pockets.
I also printed out a label for the front of the box and covered it with a piece of clear contact to protect it from wear and tear.
I have 2 boxes on the go and there is still room. They are easily transported and my nestabilities are fully protected.

Dina's Nestabilities storage idea and studio

Dina uses a rail to store punches and the Nestabilities. For the latter ones, Dina got some S hooks from Ikea (the rails are from there too) and then made little tags so she could know what they are.

Also I would like to ad this photo of her studio:

Karina's nestabilities idea

Karina simply attach it all to a book ring (each set has its own ring). Simple but A great idea to keep them together.
