ABAC5 - Christmas notebook

Good morning and Happy Sunday! It's time for another Anything But a Card Challenge!  Challenge 5 is to incorporate the color BLACK into your project.  It doesn't have to be the only color, but it should compromise a good portion of it.

I still had some not altered composition notebooks so I decided to make a fabric cover for it.
I got this beautiful black gold and cream poinsettia fabric when our local quilt shop closed and I got a lot of it :) ..and I'll be making more Christmas items from it in the upcoming weeks. The cover is removable and reusable. If you would like to make one too, you can find the instructions at Smashed Peas and Carrots.

So Artful Challenge #5 - Here comes spring

It's time for a new So Artful Challenge - this time the theme is Here comes Spring and the colors are green, blue, pink. I was inspired by the lovely inspiration pictures full of flowers and decided to make an eye-glasses holder.
It's made from various ribbons - from velvet, through gross grain to silk - so it has a lovely texture. The ribbons are adhered to a piece of fabric using Heat'n Bond Lite iron-on adhesive. Be careful when ironing different kinds of fabrics - I ironed them through a piece of cotton.. Then I added a layer of bating for protection and lined it with pink batiste. Flower is made from a wide satin ribbon and adhered with hot glue to the case.

Scrappy heart potholders

I finally overcome my fear of paper piecing and tried it last night. I used Vanessa's tutorial on Sewing Mamas Forum and here is what I created:
used up some of my increasing pile of scrap fabric, jelly roll strips for binding and I even made a little hanging thing on the back :)
