HLSC #40 - 'T' Time

We have a new challenge today over at Happileigh Scrappin' Challenges which has been set my Happi Sister Starla and it is ‘T’ Time. Use images of T or something that starts with a T such as a Turtle, teddy Bear, Texture etc.

Unfortunately this will be our final Challenge as Leigh has had some life changes that mean she hasn't got time to draw the designs any more. I am truly going to miss designing for her as the images are perfect for my bright and fun style of crafting and my life has been enriched by being in a group of lovely ladies. The Happi Sisters are all such a talented bunch of crafters you will no doubt see us popping up all over the crafty blogosphere.

The Happi Sisters as always had the pick of the many images in the Happileigh Scrappin' store and I do hope you will take a look at the fabulous creations they have all made on the blog as there are some real beauties there.

For my card I have used Sea Turtle which is in the Critters section of the store.

As always you get the black and white and the coloured versions, all for only $3

It has been pointed out by my hubby this week that I don’t tend to make many card for men so in attempt to make more of an effort I have used this cute little turtle on a man’s card. It’s still got some bling on it though J

I have coloured the image using Promarkers and drew little swirls on it but I think I may have made him look a bit too much like a tortoise rather than a sea turtle. I did a Google search and my little offering is not quite right but hey, I can use artistic license can’t I? I did find the cutest picture of a Tiny Sea Turtle though courtesy of Simon King’s photostream on Flikr J

Aww, isn’t it sooo cute and tiny?

I used Kraft cardstock for the base and the mulitcoloured circle paper is a snippet from a freebie magazine paper. The sentiment is one I made myself. He is such a chilled out dude of a turtle. Finally I added some bubbles in the form of assorted sizes and colours of blue and clear gems.

There are loads of fabulous images in the Happileigh Scrappin' Store and Leigh has also got some gorgeous new designs available. With every purchase you this gorgeous image and sentiment free........

Also for every 3 images you purchase you can choose an extra one absolutely free.
There are loads of fab images just itching to be played with so you will find it easy to spend your pennies I promise you :)

Remember, for our challenges you don't need to use a Happileigh Scrappin' image but if you do you it will be entered into a separate draw. With freebies available here it is easy to use one of Leigh's fabulous digis.

We would love to see lots of entries in this challenge. Leigh gives away her lovely digis to the top 3 so it is well worth entering and myself and the DT love to see your creations, so come on over to

Materials Used in this card are as follows:-
Card Size – 6” square
Paper – Freebie magazine snippet
Sentiment – Made by Me J

Tableu Tuesday #10

Woohoo! I am really pleased to announce that I am a Guest Designer at Daisy Doodles Creative Challenges for the whole of September.

They have some gorgeous designs and it is fabulous to have the opportunity to design for them using these little beauties.

The challenge theme this week is Anything Goes and I chose the Doodle Bug set and in particular design #2 which has these groovy flowers. It is a fabulous value set as you get 3 different styled images of cars and 2 sentiments for only $3

I covered my pink base card with this pretty glittery flower paper from Smirk and coloured the digi with Promarkers to suit. I created 2 layers to the image, the back layer for the inside of the card and the wheels and the front layer being the rest of the bodywork. I added Stickles glitter glue to the flowers to make it look groovy baby (said in an Austin Powers voice of course!) As a finishing touch Crystal Effects has been applied to the windscreen and the lights to give them a glasslike appearance.

The magenta coloured mirri card has been run through an embossing folder by Crafts Too and I used an emery board to distress it and bring the white backing through. The flowers are an assortment of paper and fabric ones from my stash and I added a congratulations banner to make it suitable for a girlie passing her driving test.

I hope you like my colourful card and with such a popular theme for this week's challenge I am sure we will see lots of entries.

I'll see you again next week with another lovely Daisy Doodles design.

Materials Used in this card are as follows:-
Card Size – A5
Image – Doodle Bug #2 by Daisy Doodles
Patterned Paper – Smirk
Sentiment – Congratulations banner from stash
Embellishments – Assortment of fabric and paper flowers, Stickles glitter glue, Crystal Effects
Tools - 3D Foam & Scissors, Promarkers, Nestie dies, Crafts Too embossing folder

CCM #51 Summer Holiday Memories

We have a new challenge today over at Crafty Cardmakers. It was my turn to set the theme and I have chosen  a Summer Holiday Memories theme.

After a month off the DT have recharged their batteries and are raring to go with some fab new challenges for you.

The lovely Joanna Sheen is sponsoring this challenge
Now I have to be honest I haven’t been away anywhere for a summer holiday this year but for me it has to be a visit to the beach. If I go abroad the 1st thing I have to check is how close the hotel is to the beach as the sea is a major part of it for me. My Grandfather and Great Grandfather were both in the Navy and it has always drawn me to it in a way I cannot explain. I love to listen to the sea crashing onto the rocks and love nothing better than looking for special pebbles and paddling in the sea if it’s not too cold. Paula and I went to Snowdonia earlier in the year and quite by accident found this almost deserted beach. The weather was fabulous and we had the most amazing time there. The pebbles were amazing and I could have stayed there all day

My card has been made using a Kraft base. The beach wordart is from TLC Creations and the bucket and spade is a digi from Happileigh Scrappin’ coloured with Promarkers and cut using a Nestability die. Both digis have been matted onto cardstock scraps from my snippet pile.

The ribbon is from a set of DCWV drawers I had from QVC which has alload of holiday things in.The cardstock sticker sentiment cam from there too and last but not least I used a couple of plastic beach themed beads to finish off the image.

I’m looking for ward to sharing your Summer holiday Memories too.

Happieigh Scrappin' #38

We have a new challenge today over at Happileigh Scrappin' Challenges which is to use Autumnul colours of Brown Orange & Yellow

The Happi Sisters as always had the pick of the many images in the Happileigh Scrappin' store and I do hope you will take a look at the fabulous creations they have all made on the blog as there are some real beauties there.

For my card I have used a newly released image last week called First Kiss which is in the Girly Girls Section of the store

This is a great value for money set because as always you get the black and white and coloured versions, but you also get 2 sentiments in this set as well all for only $3
I had to keep this away from my hubby as it is my 10th wedding anniversary at the end of the month and I will be giving this card to him. We have been together for 22 years and although I won’t go so far as to say each kiss feels like the 1st, I will say that he still makes my tummy tipple over and I know I am very, very lucky to able to say that after such a long time J
Anyhoo, I love Autumn, love the colours and so this image was easy to colour with my Promarkers  in oranges, browns and yellows. I coloured in the little boy and girls in hair colours that we both had as children, brown for me and ginger for Paul. The background paper is more brown than the photo has brought out and has little flowers and leaves all over it with glitter on them. The sentiment was cut out using a nestie label die, inked around the edges and matted twice onto brown cardstock. The orange ribbon is from my stash. I have use scraps of cardstock to cut out 2 lattice hearts with my Martha Stewart punched and layered them over one another so they are entwined and the last touch is a felt flower with a button centre.

There are loads of fabulous images in the Happileigh Scrappin' Store and Leigh has also got some gorgeous new designs available. With every purchase you this gorgeous image and sentiment free........

For my card this week I have used an image by Jess at Floppy Latte Designs called Life Is Sweet. It certainly is very yummy judging by this gorgeous ice cream sundae image.

The base card has been covered with a text paper with birthday words and phrases from a Dovecraft paper pack. The image has been coloured with Promarkers and I added some Crystal Effects to the cherry and chocolate sauce to make them look shiny. I used a fine tip to draw a grid on the table to look like a tablecloth. The sentiment on the image is a rub on from Sizzix.

The circle sentiment is a freebie from Brossart Addiction and I have coloured it in and added some gold Stickles to the scalloped edge.

Materials Used in this card are as follows:-
Card Size – A5
Sentiment – Brossart Addiction & Sizzix
Paper – Birthday paper pack by Dovecraft
Embellishments – Crystal Effects & Stickles gitter glue
Tools – scissors, 3d foam, Promarkers
