New Baby Sidestep Card

My Mother in Law has asked me to make a card for a new baby girl for a friend of her's who has moved to Canada. She asked me not to make it too big or heavy as it costs a lot to post.

My friend Sarn recently made this style of card at a cardmaking class at The Glitterpot and shared the pattern of how to make it. It uses a piece of card 6" x 12" but as I don't buy much card of that size I decided to alter the sizes slightly and make it fit a standard sheet of A4. A little tweaking later and I'd altered it to fit.

The main paper is by Doodlebug (now only got a small piece left, boo hoo) The paper on the second layer is from The English Paper Company and the spotty one at the back is by K & Co. The cardstock stickers are by Doodlebug, the baby is a photo realistic sticker from MAMBI and the welcome to the world banner is from the same pack. The New Baby sentiment is from Lets Make Cards, the epoxy bubble message is Paperchase and the silver teddy peel off is Papermania.

I really like this style of card and will definitely be making more of this shape. It looks really effective yet is quite easy to do once you know where to cut and fold.

365 Cards Day 133 & 5 other Challenges !

I've again not had any chance to make cards this week as it has been waaaay too busy again in the Cruxton household. I have had the most mega migraine for most of the day but am feeling a whole lot better after lots of sleep and a couple of rounds of painkillers. One home made lamb curry for tea and I came over all crafty and rustled up this card.

This card incorporates 6 challenges, details as follows :-
The paper is from a large Rob & Bob pack that I got off QVC a long time ago. It is one of my favourites and as soon as I saw the challenge details on 365 Cards today I knew I wanted to use this paper. The stamped image and the ribbon/flower have been re-used from a RAK card that I got from one of my forum buddies about 2 years ago. I had been keeping the card as it was too nice to throw away and I am glad I have been able to re-use some of the elements.

The card sentiment is from Craftworks Cards and the stick on lettering is from MAMBI.

365 Day 61 & Di Hickman April # 5

Day 61 at 365 Cards and the challenge today is to incorporate at least one leaf into your card.

I used the latest sketch from Di Hickman and I was rifling through a box of various floral elements and came across these glittered daisy die cuts which I am sure are from a Lets Make Cards pack. I added some clear alpha stickers by MAMBI to the panel and dug out my favourite Tim Coffey Daisy papers from K & Co. I covered the card with the yellow plaid and cut out square panels to mount the flowers to. I edged these with a little ink as they blended into the paper too much.

I do love daisies and this is such a cheerful card, a perfect antidote to the horrible wet weather we have had all day in Birmingham today.

CPS 112 & 365 Cards Day 51

It is absolutely ages since I have played with a CPS sketch and I didn't think I would get chance to this week but have managed to incorporate Sketch 112 with the Day 51 challenge at 365 Cards.

We were given a photo of some red flowers and were to make a card inspired by it.

The flowers are quite vibrant but against a black background so quite bold colouring - just how I like it !!

I used an A4 sheet of black cardstock for the base and used a sophisticated patterned paper from Issue 3 of Creative Cardmaking magazine which is a relatively new mag in the UK that has a really good selection of papers and embellishments with each issue. I have bought the last 2 and I am very impressed with the quality of them.

The rest of the papers and the sentiment panel are from a HOTP Classic Creative cardmakers pack and the lettering is from MAMBI. The roses are embossed stickers from Docraft from a TSV I had from QVC last year. They are a very heavy weight of paper and the embossing is very defined, mush like the K & Co stickers. I finished the panel off with a couple of ladybirds from the same sheet.

I have a particular recipient in mind for this card and shall be popping it in the post very soon to tell her that I am thinking about her.

Wedding Card & Box

My colleague Christine asked me to make a wedding card for Helen from the office staff she works with.

I used embellishments from various sources for the front. The dress and the heart is Papermania, the velvet feeling tuxedo is from Woolworths, the glitter sticker is from Mambi with an epoxy sticker over the top from LMC. The sentiment sticker at the bottom is from a wedding pack from Poundland.

Inside the card I did a pop out stylee sandwiching burgundy
paper with peel off hearts on it. I also used Docrafts peel offs to add detail to the inside. There is also an extra couple of pages for her colleagues to add their sentiments to it.

The box is decorated using a wedding cake die cut from a Poundland pack. The heart and sentiment are from the Papermania stickers. Peel offs are from my stash.

Chris loved the card and so did Helen.
