I love Christmas, especially trimming the tree and I adore this image Lite Brite from Stitchy Stamps. I have always loved how elegant and simple it is and I am so glad I had the chance to work with this one. I coloured the pot and stalk of the tree with Promarkers but the rest of it is pure glittery goodness. I always felt this card would be great with multiple colours of glitter for the lights. It was quite time consuming and VERY messy but I am delighted with how this has come out. I used a fine tipped pva glue and just played with lots of colours of glitter, working on one colour at a time. I added a decoupage layer for the star and 2 more layers for the pot and bow. I added lots of gold glitter to the star to make it twinkle even more J

Using the current Tuesday Morning Sketch I layered candy cane papers in red and white and the green striped paper is from the Smirk Christmas pad, I thought the card needed a bit more glitter LOL. The image was matted onto some scrap black card to provide a strong contrast to the papers and tie the black tops of the lights together. I added some gold ribbon from my stash and the digi sentiment was diecut with a Nestabilties label die and embossed
I love this card so much and think I may do some variations of it in different colours. I think a blue and silver one would look good……

Hope Butterfly D2D

I didn't make a card using last weeks image from Designed 2 Delight as it was a Halloween image and I had no reason to use it as we don't 'do'  Halloween in the Cruxton household and it's not really celebrated that much in the UK. Fortunately as it was week 5 it had no major impact but I did of course miss out on the rest of the gorgeous set that this Hope Butterfly is part of.

Unfortunately the big C has a massive impact on everyone these days. I would be very surprised if someone you know hasn't been directly affected by it in one form or another. Breast Cancer in particular has affected my family as Paul's Auntie was very ill with it for many years and ultimately died from it. Closer to home my maternal Grandmother died from it just before I was born and my Sister has had a couple of scares from it. My own boobies are on the VERY generous side and I check them every couple of days as one of my concerns is that a cyst or tumour could hide amongst them and be undetected for quite a while unless it was painful. Due to my family history I am considered in the high risk category so now I am 40 I will be put on the screening register so I guess I have that to look forward to in the not too distant future....

I coloured this gorgeous butterfly with Promarkers/Flexmarkers, creating a second layer for the ribbon, mounted on 3d foam and using tonnes of pink ultrafine glitter..... yes I got covered and so did my pop up photo tent LOL

I followed the current sketch from Cards & Things, the papers used for this whole project have come from the scraps box I had on my desk on WOYWW #123 yesterday. I love the pretty flower paper from Smirk and it has glitter embedded in some of the flowers :) I punched a scalloped edge with a Martha Stewart punch.

The Hope sentiment is a freebie by Penny Duncan and has been cut into an oval shape with a Fiskars template.

Materials Used in this card are as follows:-

Card Size – A6
Sentiment – Digi by Penny Duncan
Paper - All Scraps :) Floral one is by Smirk
Embellishments - Ultrafine glitter
Tools - 3d foam, scissors, Fiskars template, Martha Stewart Punch

Tableu Tuesday #10

Woohoo! I am really pleased to announce that I am a Guest Designer at Daisy Doodles Creative Challenges for the whole of September.

They have some gorgeous designs and it is fabulous to have the opportunity to design for them using these little beauties.

The challenge theme this week is Anything Goes and I chose the Doodle Bug set and in particular design #2 which has these groovy flowers. It is a fabulous value set as you get 3 different styled images of cars and 2 sentiments for only $3

I covered my pink base card with this pretty glittery flower paper from Smirk and coloured the digi with Promarkers to suit. I created 2 layers to the image, the back layer for the inside of the card and the wheels and the front layer being the rest of the bodywork. I added Stickles glitter glue to the flowers to make it look groovy baby (said in an Austin Powers voice of course!) As a finishing touch Crystal Effects has been applied to the windscreen and the lights to give them a glasslike appearance.

The magenta coloured mirri card has been run through an embossing folder by Crafts Too and I used an emery board to distress it and bring the white backing through. The flowers are an assortment of paper and fabric ones from my stash and I added a congratulations banner to make it suitable for a girlie passing her driving test.

I hope you like my colourful card and with such a popular theme for this week's challenge I am sure we will see lots of entries.

I'll see you again next week with another lovely Daisy Doodles design.

Materials Used in this card are as follows:-
Card Size – A5

Embellishments – Assortment of fabric and paper flowers, Stickles glitter glue, Crystal Effects
Tools - 3D Foam & Scissors, Promarkers, Nestie dies, Crafts Too embossing folder

365 Cards Day 86

This is one of the cards I made at our Crafty session yesterday. My primary objective was to make cards that would satisfy some of the older 365 Cards challanges that I have missed.

This card is for Day 86 which was to make a card which was mainly grape coloured and to incorporate at least 5 circles.

The backing paper is from the new Christmas paper pack from Smirk and is really glittery. The circles are the baubles on the tree, the sentiment strip is a scrap I had lying around and the sentiment sticker 'trimming the tree' is from a DCWV drawer set from QVC.

I may howerver have to add eyes to my little characters as I think they are a bit freaky without them just like the Magnolia stamps without the smiles.
