Paul Smith jumper -
consigned to Room 101

One of my readers spotted this - thanks Thomas! - while watching an episode of Room 101 on the BBC.

Hosted by Frank Skinner, who appeared in Mummy On The Orient Express, guest celebrities get to put the things they hate into the fictional room 101 from George Orwell’s 1984.

This week the guests were Miles Jupp, Dragon’s Den investor Kelly Hoppen and quiz show presenter Vernon Kay - who was seen sporting a somewhat familiar jumper!

If you look closely you can see it is a salmon pink colour way of the holey Paul Smith jumper, favoured so much by the Twelfth Doctor.

Personally I wouldn't mind seeing that jumper thrown into room 101, never to be seen again.

Viewers in the UK can re-watch there episode on the BBC iPlayer.

Robot Of Sherwood - Paul Smith Shirt

This week’s episode, Robot Of Sherwood, sees The Doctor’s first major costume variation.

He’s dropped the bespoke-cut white Budd shirt and John Smedley cardigan in favour of a burgundy shirt.

If you’re looking for the shirt you don't need to look very far.

Peter Capaldi seems to have a charge account at Paul Smith, as it seems to be his favourite label, both on and off screen.

If you look closely at this candid photo from the filming, you can see there is wording etched into the buttons, something Paul Smith often does.

If you look at the detail shots of the shirt, you can just make out that the buttons have writing etched into them, and they are the same steely grey colour. You can also see the edge-stitch detailing around the collar and button stand.

That will be the shirt then!

The Capaldi look - a Doctor in civvies!

Series eight of Doctor Who official wrapped this week and the very next day the Doctor Who World Tour kicked off.

I was lucky enough to be at the first leg in Cardiff, and saw WORLD premiere of Deep Breath.

The next stop was the later the same day in London at one of my favourite film venues, the BFI.

The BBC issued some nice portrait shots of Peter Capaldi and Jenna Colman, taken just before the screening.

Peter is sporting a rather natty shirt with a star constellation design.
It reminded me very much of the many fabric designs available through Spoonflower!

I wondered where it came from and did a bit of research.

It didn’t take me long to track it down to - of all places - Paul Smith!

Paul smith seems to be the choice of the recent Doctors, with David Tennant’s tuxedo from Voyage Of The Damned; Matt Smith’s Burgundy and Blue Scroll shirts in series Five; and now it’s the favourite of the latest Doctor, Peter Capaldi.

You may remember that in October last year I reported that Peter had visited Paul Smith’s workshop for a cup of tea with the man himself, so seeing him wear a shirt outside of the show isn’t entirely surprising.

Great choice for a Time Lord though!

The shirts are available to buy online and are in stock in all sizes (while I write).

The Capaldi look - the trousers

When Peter Capaldi’s coat was revealed to be from Crombie, a lot of people noticed that they also sell trousers which bear a mark resemblance to those in the new costume.

They certainly have the right general look, and are in probably the right colour being a dark navy. But looking at them they seem to lack the very tapered ankle.

I think they can only be regarded as a good alternative.

The trousers now identified as probably the right ones are from the Spring/Summer 2013 Paul Smith range.

If you remember, back in October Paul Smith himself posted in his blog that Peter Capaldi had visited his workshop.
Could this have been when the trousers were chosen.

There is one notable difference however, the pleats on the front are flapped in the opposite direction. That said, the trousers could easily be altered to change the way these pleats lay, so I’d say these are the right ones.

Doctor Paul Smith?

A few days ago there was a possible - and only possible I hasten to add - hint as to where the Doctor might be shopping for his new wardrobe.
