Joe Murray Reflects On Using Animals With Anthropomorphic Qualities On 'Rocko's Modern Life'

“Using animals with anthropomorphic qualities allowed me to delve into the human psyche in a more pedagogical way. I could get away with more (including the lead character not wearing any pants.) The stories had bite with lots of wackiness thrown in.” -Joe Murray, creator of Rocko’s Modern Life, in a 2014 interview with The Huffington Post. Original art by Joe Murray himself! Are you looking forward to Nick's upcoming Rocko’s Modern Life TV movie, "Static Cling"? Sound off in the comments below!

Emily Kapnek & Monica Tomova | As Told By Ginger | Women's History Month | Nickelodeon Animation

Nickelodeon Animation are continuing their celebration of Women’s History Month with these storyboards by Monica Tomova from the 2000 Nickelodeon show As Told By Ginger, created by Emily Kapnek, who sums up her inspiration for the show: “Why has no one done an animated show that really looks at all of the angst of being that junior high school age [when] you’re so awkward and want to fit in but also want to stand out [and] not knowing how to do both. That was the whole motivation. Plus, just a healthy dose of reality. I didn’t feel there were a lot of cartoons that were really honest and dealt with real issues that kids were dealing with. The plan was to have Ginger clearly grappling with a lot of the milestone stuff that kids deal with, [like] the pressure to fit in, the pressure to look a certain way, shave her legs, etc.”

Pinky Malinky: Could JJ Jameson Have Two Dads?

To celebrate National Ugly Christmas Sweater Day, which took place on Friday 15th December 2017, Nickelodeon Animation background painter Jocelyn Liang unveiled a fantastic set of pictures showing how Pinky Malinky star JJ Jameson celebrated the day! Although each of the images are awesome, one picture in particular features a very interesting detail about JJ: he is drinking from a mug saying he 'Hearts My Dads'! Could this mean that JJ will have two dads on the show?!

Although it's not confirmed that JJ's parents will be a same-sex couple, it would certainly fit into Nickelodeon's commitment to inclusiveness, featuring diverse characters in the networks shows. Pinky Malinky would follow in the footsteps of Nickelodeon's hit animated series The Loud House, which features a same-sex married couple and a bi-sexual main character, The Legend of Korra, whose lead character was gay, and Glitch Techs, which will feature a multiethnic cast.

Check out Jocelyn's fantastic art below, and be sure to tune into Pinky Malinky when it premieres in 2018!

Production Crew Mixes Final Episode Of "Harvey Beaks"

Cartoonist C.H. Greenblatt, the creator of the Harvey Beaks, has announced the bittersweet news in a post on his official Tumblr blog, Nerd Armada, that the production crew mixed the series finale episode of Nickelodeon's popular animated series on Friday 23rd June 2017. In his post, Carl shared a photo from the mixing suite, featuring a scene from the episode "The End and the Beginning", and revealed that in the series finale, we'll see Fee and Foo's parents, and how Harvey and the twins, Fee & Foo, became friends. Carl also revealed that the episode will feature a special story about friendship and family, which will summarize the whole point of the series, and that he's glad that he got to end the series this way.

We mixed the final half-hour of Harvey Beaks today. It has a lot going on. We meet Fee and Foo’s parents and we also see how Harvey and the twins became friends. I hope fans enjoy it because it’s a special story that summarizes the whole point of the series. I always told the crew the core of this show was friendship and family. Well this episode has that in spades. I’m glad I got to end it this way.

I don’t know exactly when the last batch of episodes will run, but I’ll spread the word as soon as I get the info.

In separate posts, Carl also revealed that if Harvey Beaks had been renewed for a third season, that seasons finale episode would have featured a story about Harvey’s grandpa, Roland, and what happened to his wife. Then he’d move in to the house and become a permanent part of family life, and teased that we'll find out what happened to Princess's mom in the upcoming season two episode “Princess Wants A Mom.”

Although airdates for the last batch of new Harvey Beaks episodes are yet to be announced, Nicktoons Africa is set to premiere the remaining episodes of Harvey Beaks season two in July 2017.

Original Composer - Ego Plum.

Harvey Beaks (2 seasons) debuted on Saturday 28th March 2015, and follows Harvey, a sweet and well-meaning bird who's never broken the rules, who makes two new best friends, Fee and Foo, the wildest imps in the forest who don't know there are any rules. Although their friendship seems unlikely, their connection only grows as they push each other out of their comfort zones and into endless adventures. Harvey Beaks is a good kid on a mission to have fun, and nothing can stand in his way! Well, except for the fact that he irons his bed sheets and is always on time. From fighting a gang of squirrels to stealing bikes from Randl the grumpy raccoon, there are tons of adventures to be had in Bigbark Woods, and Fee and Foo and always on hand to help Harvey tap into his wild side. Harvey Beaks is created, written and directed by C.H. Greenblatt (SpongeBob SquarePants, Chowder), and is produced in-house at Nickelodeon Animation Studios in Burbank, California. Nickelodeon picked up the series in September 2013.

C.H. Greenblatt Reveals What He Had Planned For "Harvey Beaks" Seasons 3 And 4

Following the announcement that Nickelodeon's popular animated series Harvey Beaks would be ending after the shows second season, cartoonist C.H. Greenblatt, the creator of the Harvey Beaks, has revealed in a post on his official Tumblr blog, Nerd Armada, some of the storylines he had in mind for the series if Harvey Beaks was renewed for a third and fourth season:

"Fee & Foo’s parents would move in to LittleBark. They’d be part of the cast as Harvey’s crazy neighbors. Fee & Foo would have to parent their folks since they don’t know much about raising kids. Season 4 was going to have grumpy Grandpa Roland move in with the Beaks. The original concept was to add a new factor each season to disrupt things just a little (like Michelle). The core dynamics would still be there, but we would have new relationships to play with."

Although Harvey Beaks will be ending after its second season run, Carl has promised fans that the series finale of Harvey Beaks will be massive and epic.
