The Conscript law.

Nearly every day we receive letters from soldiers in the army, asking an explanation of the Conscript law regarding its effect upon those over thirty-five now in the service. The recently published explanatory orders from Gen. Cooper gives a very clear statement of the matter. Only those persons under the age of 18 and over 35, who have not enlisted for the war, will be entitled to a discharge on the 16th of July. Those persons who have been regularly mustered in for the war, will be still held to service the same as if the Conscript law had not been enacted. This will answer a number of in quarries upon the subject.
