Correspondence of the Richmond Dispatch.
things in Nansemond — the Fast — public meeting a failure, &c.

Suffolk, Va.,Jan. 4, 1861.
All business is suspended, and the day is observed here with even more sanctify than it is customary to observe the Sabbath. Two churches were opened in the town for divine service — the Methodist and Episcopal — and both were well filled with what appeared to be earnest and devout worshippers. I attended the latter particularly, and must confess that I was deeply moved by the full Litany of that beautiful and solemn service, said in connection with the fine prayer issued by the Bishop of the diocese for the state of the country.--May God hear the supplications of his people, and stay His avenging arm! Todd.
