Fuel for the poor.
--It is hoped and expected that the various railroads leading to this city will, for the time, reduce their tariff of tolls on fuel to a very low figure, so as to enable the country people to send wood to market, and sell it at reduced prices. At the present rates asked for wood and coal, the poorer classes will not be able to buy enough to keep their families comfortable during the winter months. A few thousand cords, brought in by each road, and sold to the poor only at reduced rates, would be an act of charity never to be forgotten.
