From the South.
--Intelligence was received yesterday by telegraph from Hon. Waller R. Staples, one of the Virginia Commissioners to the Confederate Congress, of the adjournment of that body, and its purpose to re-assemble at Richmond at no distant day. It is needless to say that the last item of intelligence was received by persons of all classes and conditions in life with unalloyed pleasure, and that the expression of satisfaction at the determination of the agents of the Southern States in this regard was not only hearty, but universal. No doubt Gen. Davis will be here at an early day, and then our people will be afforded an opportunity of paying him the respect they feel and which is so eminently his due.
