κλέπτην σ᾽ ἀπῆλον κ.τ.λ. See Or. 54 § 1 τῇ τῶν λωποδυτῶν ἀπαγωγῇ n.—ἐπ᾽ αὐτοφώρῳ, flagrante delicto.

ἀναγαγεῖν] ἀναφέρειν, sc. ἐκεῖσε ὅθεν (or εἰς τοῦτον ἀφ᾽ οὗεἴληφας, demonstrare unde et qui facultates illas adeptus sis (Reiske). ‘Had I then required you to name the person from whom you got it, to whom should you have referred as the donor?’ Kennedy.

οὔτε πατὴρ παρέδωκεν, οὔθ᾽ εὗρες Or. 36 § 43 οὐδὲ γὰρ Πασίων σὸς πατὴρ ἐκτήσαθ᾽ εὑρὼν οὐδὲ τοῦ πατρὸς αὐτῷ παραδόντος. —πατήρ, here (as often) without the article.

βάρβαρος ἐωνήθης Eur. Iph. Aul. 1400 βαρβάρων Ἕλληνας άρχειν εἰκός, ἀλλ᾽ οὐ βαρβάρους, μῆτερ, Ἑλλήνων, τὸ μὲν γὰρ δοῦλον οἱ δ᾽ ἐλεύθεροι, the first four words of which are quoted by Arist., Pol. I 2 § 4, with the comment ὡς ταὐτὸ φύσει βάρβαρον καὶ δοῦλον ὄν.

ἐπὶ τοῖς εἰργασμένοις ‘for what you have done,’ Or. 21 (Mid.) § 105 φεύγειν ἐφ᾽ αἴματι. Dem. 3 § 24 τὴν ἐπὶ τοῖς ἔργοις δόξαν.

τὸ σῶμα σεσωκὼς 22 § 55 τοῖς μὲν δούλοις τὸ σῶμα τῶν ἀδικημάτων ἁπάντων ὑπεύθυνόν ἐστι, τοῖς δ᾽ ἐλευθέροις, κἂν τὰ μέγιστ᾽ ἀτυχῶσιν, τοῦτό γ᾽ ἔνεστι σῶσαι.
