This was my first time using the Friends are Like Seashells Bundle and now I’m hooked! I used quite a few of the products in this suite on my card, including the Friends are Like Seashells stamp set, Seaside Seashells Dies, Seashells 3D Embossing Folder, Sand & Sea Designer Series Paper and the beautiful Opal Rounds. I also used a soft color combo which paired with a couple of the colors in the Designer Series Paper.

Color Combo:
I just love how the dies and embossing folder work together. That really made it easy to add gorgeous texture to the card. I used sponge daubers to add ink to the seashells, which really brought out the textured detail. To add the pearlescent finish to the shells, I used Frost White Shimmer Paint. If you have never tried Shimmer Paint, I highly recommend it. There are two colors available from Stampin’ Up!®: Frost White and Champagne Mist.

I also shared another Facebook Live Video a while back with lots more ideas on how to use Shimmer Paints. It’s really fun! You can check it out here: Shimmer Paint Facebook Live

  • Blushing Bride Card Base: 4-1/4” x11, scored at 5-1/2”
  • Crumb Cake Cardstock: 4” x 5-1/4”

Third Thursdays Blog Hop - Christmas in July

Welcome once again to our Third Thursdays Blog Hop! This month, our theme for the hop is Christmas in July. Everyone on the hop will be featuring projects to get you in the holiday spirit! Christmas is just 5 short months away, so it’s a great time to get to creating.

Today, I am featuring a “fancy fold” diorama card using the Winter Woods stamp set and coordinating In the Woods dies. This wintery scene came together pretty easily but has a LOT of texture and dimension. If you have never tried creating a diorama card, I encourage you to. They are a lot of fun to make! I’ve listed the measurements below.

For my team meeting this month, I created our make and take projects around “fancy fold” cards and this was one of the cards everyone made. (I’ll share the other 2 soon.) Everyone at the meeting really enjoyed making this card and loved how it could be easily displayed. The only stamping on the card is the sentiment, which makes it even easier.

I really like the tree die-cut because of all of the added details. Those little “snow drifts” were also created with a die in this set. I layered them on the front and then added two more under the tree, inside the card. The background is is embossed with the Woodland Embossing Folder which paired up perfectly with the stamps and dies.
 Today’s Colors:

 Card Measurements:

  • Real Red Cardstock - 5-1/2” x 6-1/4” (2 pieces)
  • On the 6-1/4” side of BOTH pieces, score at 1/2”, 1”, 5-1/4” and 5-3/4”
  • Whisper White Cardstock (front of card) - 4” x 5-1/4”
  • Smoky Slate Cardstock (embossed with Woodland embossing folder) - 3-3/4” x 5”
  • Whisper White Cardstock (front of card, stamped sentiment and die-cut using In the Woods die) - 2” x 4”
  • Whisper White Cardstock (inside card, die-cut suing In the Woods die) - 1-1/2” x 3-3/4”
  • Shimmery White Cardstock to die cut 2 of the tree images from the In the Woods dies
As shown in the photo above, I layered the Whisper White cardstock on top of one of the Real Red pieces and used the Stitched Nested Labels dies to cut through both pieces. Then, I burnished the score lines as you can see in the photo. Once you add the elements to each layer, the card is held together by adding adhesive to the folded “tabs” on either side of the card.
To create the shimmer detail on the embossed Smokey Slate layer, I mixed up a couple of drops of Champagne Mist Shimmer paint with rubbing alcohol (70% works best) in a Stampin Spritzer. Just make sure to shake it up really well before you spritz. It creates a gorgeous sparkly detail and dries quickly because of the rubbing alcohol.

For some added dimension, I layered two fo the die-cut trees together using Mini Stampin Dimensionals and then layered them on the card using more Mini Dimensionals. It really added a lot to the tree. Of course, a tree this fancy isn’t complete until you add some bling, right? The Red Rhinestone Basic Jewels were the perfect finishing touch!
What I really like about this style of card is that it easily folds flat to fit in an envelope but really has a “wow factor” for the recipient.

I hope you have enjoyed my card today. Please leave a comment to say hello and let me know that you stopped by. Make sure to check out all of the projects featured in our Third Thursdays Blog Hop for July
