Cupcake Birthday for Our Creative Corner

Hi there! It's Saturday and time for a fun challenge over at Our Creative Corner! I ended up missing last week's challenge due to a really hectic schedule. (So sorry, gals!) I have been a horrible blogger lately, life has been getting in the way. Please don't think I haven't wanted to visit your blog....I just need more time in the day lately. :(

This week, the lovely and talented Kristin Tierney is our hostess and this is unfortunately her last challenge with OCC. Boo! Our theme is "Bakin' Beauties" and we are using the inspiration photo to get started. The rest of the challenge details are listed below, in Kristin's own words.
"I'm obsessed with beautiful cookies and 'fancy' cakes!  I always try to make them myself, but generally fall a bit short...  Your challenge this week is to make a creation based on these delish looking treats - the catch?  You MUST use something you would use in baking in your creations.  Get creative - use food coloring, paper liners, or sprinkles.  Know any cool techniques with egg whites, flour or sugar?  You need to explain your 'ingredient' in your description of your creation."
Although my card has a whole lotta ingredients, two were pulled from my kitchen cabinets. Can you guess what they are? The base of the cupcake is made from a light pink cupcake wrapper. I stamped the image on it, then punched it out. After punching, it lost a lot if it's dimension, so I punched another "base" out of white card stock, stuck the punched cupcake wrapper to it, then ran it through the Paper Crimper. The top of the cupcake is decorated with some edible sugary sprinkles...thanks Williams Sonoma! I guess technically the baker's twine could be considered a "kitchen" ingredient, so I will include that, too.

I used the awesome sketch from Deconstructed Sketches for the layout. Check it out!
Thanks for stopping by! We sure hope you will cook up some fun in the "creative kitchen" for this week's Our Creative Corner challenge. Please stop by and see what the rest of the Design Team have whipped up this week for inspiration:

Card Monkey Coffee

Hello and Happy Thursday! I hope you are having a great day today! Here is a card that I created inspired by this week's challenge from A La Card Monkey. It immediately caught my eye because the sketch is centered around one of my favorite things: COFFEE! Of course I had a trusty Starbucks cup by my side, when I made this one. Haha!
The main image is from a retired set called Sip by Sip. After I colored it in, I decided to abandon the search for patterned paper and used an embossing folder to mimic the steam coming off the cup and a paper crimper to mimic the little "sleeve" on my Starbucks cup. What is the actual name for those things? Does anyone know? I also added some Crystal Effects to the coffee in the cup and on the coffee pot.
When it came to the color combo I just HAD to use Early Espresso. ;) What goes great with coffee? Crumb Cake and Cherry Cobbler sounded good to me, so they were added, too. I also love using that satin ribbon, any chance I get. It ties perfectly EVERY time! Behind the little hearts, I added a layer of Glimmer Paper for a little pop of sparkle.
Here is the shot of the inside of the card, made with scraps from the front. I stamped a little trio of coffee beans, because they were too cute NOT to:
Thanks for visiting today! Before you go please leave a comment to say hello. (Scroll down two posts to check out my give-away, going on through Friday, too!) Have a fantastic rest of your day! Is is too late for more coffee? Hmmm.... :)

Get Your Jingle On

Nope, your eyes are not deceiving you, I REALLY made a red and green Christmas card today! I like it, too! Crazy, huh? I'm trying to get over that little quirk of mine, embrace my "Christmas Spirit" and just go with those traditional colors. Maybe it had to do with my favorite man in the BROWN suit (he's kind of like Santa, isn't he?) who delivered a box of new stampin' goodies to my house yesterday. I finally ordered the Tags til Christmas set and couldn't wait to ink up that ornament stamp. I think I have established that I love my Ornament Punch, mucho! :)

I was inspired by this week's challenge at Fresh Brewed Designs, which is a Winter/Christmas theme.

Then, I saw this week's Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge and was immediately ready to "get my jingle on":
I guess my color inspiration came to me after running errands earlier today. Yeah, I BRAVED the grocery store the day before Thanksgiving. I like to live on the edge, what can I say? Holy cow, it WAS brutal, though. Never again! I did manage to pick up two of my favorite things while fending off the crazy shoppers today. My "favorite things" from this shopping trip are not NEARLY as cool as Oprah's, but they make me happy. Here they are:
(If you have never tried these Mint Truffle Kisses, RUN to get them ASAP!)
*note how the bag has already been ripped open

So, thinking about coffee and chocolate, I went to a (retired) Simply Scrappin' set, Christmas Jingle. I bought this kit last year with the intent of making a boat-load of holiday cards with it. But, like most of my coveted retired DSP, I couldn't bring myself to cut into it. To all the "supply hoarders" out there...YOU understand what I'm talking about, don't you?? Yup, it is time to start using up this stash of goodies I own...
I made sure to add an appropriate amount of "bling" in the form of pearls. (If SU! ever gets rid of these I will probably need therapy, not kidding!) I decided to use the "Joy" sentiment from The Snowflake Spot (ret.) because it played off all the dots and pearls. It's just simple and I love that!

I dressed up the inside with the sentiment from the A Cardinal Christmas set. There you have it "jinglin' in the holiday spirit"! I'd love to hear what you think about the card, grocery shopping today, chocolate...or anything else! :) Please leave me a comment, I appreciate them and I am happy you took time out of your day to visit me.
